  1. I'm sorry to hear about your misfortune. It really is too bad that more parents don't buy minivans for this reason alone.
  2. The big question will be, how fast do they close the dealers and stop providing product. A BK means they can and will need to drop the division and everything it represents within a month to make it a fast one.
  3. Thank you. Happy Birthday 68panther!

    My First Ride

Any older honda = Death trap for a 16 year old. 1992 to 1996 Chevrolet Caprice. You won't be able to hurt it, it has the sheet metal and frame to protect you, it uses an "old school" design allowing you the opportunity to learn how to fix cars, and it doesn't cost much. Roach I, II and III took more abuse than any vehicle I have ever known, and none of them ever let us down.
  5. I would have thought they wanted the diesel 1/2 ton to improve their EPA mileage numbers.
  6. Subaru has the most annoying sound ever. It sounds like it's broken the day you take it home.
  7. Logic = Cobalt Not only is the warranty included, you also will know how well the car was cared for. With that said, I have a friend who frequently gets "new" cars, and he LOVES German products. It cost him $350 to have a battery installed in his VW, and over $2000 to have his brakes done. If VWs cost that much to fix, I could only imagine how a BMW could drain a wallet overnight.
  8. And this is why we get to keep Buick. Atleast China will end up doing one good thing for us.
  9. Not a bad idea. It might irritate some current Pontiac owners, but it could breath life back into the brand as a whole. They could even resurrect the Oldsmobile name? How about calling it the Oldsmobile Curved Dash or Oldsmobile Runabout.
  10. Happy Easter to all. We are heading down to Eugene, like we do for most Holidays.

    Buick's future

To respond to smallchevy's post: * Do you want it to FWD or RWD or a combination? Mostly FWD with AWD options (like acura). * Do you want it to be cars only, or a cars + SUV/crossover? Mostly cars with the Enclave staying. * Do you want one car lineup or cars with different sizes and shapes? Yes, see previous post. * Do you want them to handle like BMW, or just float like lexus or a match of both? More lexus, less BMW. * Who should be Buick's customers? Those that have "made it" but don't want to flaunt it. Similar to acura owners. * How will it share with Caddy and Chevy? See previous post. * How will it be differentiated from Caddy and Chevy? Caddy = Stand out luxury, Chevy = a vehicle for everyone, Buick = mid-luxury, aimed at professionals that don't like the overtly flaunting style of Cadillacs.

    Buick's future

Though I like your idea, I'm not sure that fits in with what the government will require and desire for tomorrow. I think Buick needs to take a leap and make the BEST small luxury cars any maker has ever built. There is nothing wrong with a small car if they spend the money and energy to do it right. A strong lineup for Buick tomorrow might be: Volt like product - Yes I do think this is one time GM should make sure every division gets a platform. It doesn't need the flair of the Cadillac, or the simplicity look of the Chevrolet, but it will need luxury details that the current Volt is definitely missing. Compact Super Luxury FWD sedan - Take the beauty and cues of the upcoming LaCrosse and make it the size of a Cobalt. It should be available in hybrid, and standard 4-cyl models. Regal (small mid-size sedan) - Just as they have shown, making sure to have a high output 4-cyl and hybrid model available. LaCrosse (large mid-size sedan) - Just as they have coming up, but add a hybrid 6-cyl version Enclave (just as it is) - Adding a hybrid V6 model similar to that of Lexus (more power, better gas mileage) IF additional money exists: Lucerne (large sedan) - Available in AWD only. Can be a super stretched Epsilon platform if needed. See LaCrosse for engines, and if still legal and possible, one V8 or supercharged V6 option.
  13. As of late, it seems that toyota and Hyundai are the Kings of rental fleet.
  14. Here is a letter that you can use to pass the info on to your local media. Make sure to read the report and check out the video. I think ANY automotive fan would find it of interest. I have a news story that I think would intrigue many viewers. There is a product purchased by "A" celebrities to show they are "green". This product violates human rights and most people don't know it. The story is about workers rights on a company that many people in the US associate with an environmentally positive company. Please check out http://lauraflanders.firedoglake.com/2008/...t-worker-abuse/ and http://www.nlcnet.org/admin/media/document...N_FINAL_WEB.pdf Thank you,
  15. Before you throw flames, try finding out the story.
  16. Are you not reading my comments? I have no problem with you enjoying the car you want, but I have every right to spend my money on what I want as well. I find the Roach to be a waste of MY money. If you love your car, more power to you. I do understand the love that can happen, especially on an older Cadillac or B-body car. It's just not for me and not something I want to spend my money on. Let me put it another way. If your wife forced you to buy a 1999 toyota corolla as her car THEN said that your kids cannot ride in her car because it was too dangerous so every time the family went out they used your car, which they trashed it as kids do, THEN she decided her car was to dangerous for her to drive to work, but was not willing to get rid of it, so she drove your car everyday and added to the hosing of your car, would you not also want to burn up her corolla? It's not that I don't think B-Bodies are not great cars that have served many people well, it's the overall situation that has me pissed and wanting to kill the car off.
  17. As stated earlier in the thread, I would pay someone to take it away if my wife would let me. I didn't want the first one, I didn't want the second one, and I REALLY didn't want the third one. She has a weird attachment to them. My stance; they where good when they first came out, now they just eat at the earth and my pocket book. VERY few people need a boat like this. Just like those that drive SUVs and big trucks. I understand using it instead of a truck, but that is the only reason someone should own such a gas hog. (little hippie moment coming out). Ok, ok, really though; I'm not against anyone else wanting it that loves it, but I just don't want it in my driveway. I am all for the individual getting what they desire. I just don't desire the Roach. There's just a little anger coming out when I think about how much money we have wasted on the car. Especially since my car gets trashed because she thinks we should use car instead of hers as a family car (gas mileage and reliability). Just because she buys a crappy car that nobody wants to ride in, why should I suffer.
  18. YellowJacket984 - If you can find a way to get my wife to part with it, I'll pay you to take it away.
  19. YellowJacket894 - All great ideas, but I have to be able to do it without my wife knowing I am.
  20. Bleach will only take out the injectors as well as sand. She'll insist we just fix it even it costs over $1000. Besides, I'm guessing, like everything else with these cars, for some reason they built something into the car that will still prevent it from hurting it. Then again, if bleach or sand would eat at the walls of the cylinder heads . . .
  21. 1994 Caprice with LT1 - Ex Police vehicle
  22. Those that have been around a while will remember everything I did to try and kill Roach I, non of which actually killed the cars (Roach I had over 390,000 miles on original engine & trans). I want Roach III to go away and the only way it will is if it has a major mechanical breakdown. Does anybody have ideas on what I can do to cause this to happen without my wife knowing? For the record, I've tried to the following to one or all three Roaches and NONE of them even hesitated to keep running. 1. Jumped off the ground and landed extra hard on frame 2. Put in reverse at full highway speed 3. Used one gallon of water for 10 gallons of gas 4. Pushed down high a gravel pile 5. Darn near totalled a honda civic in an accident, but only caused VERY minor damage to Roach I (wife did this one) 6. Take curbs at full speed (as high as 40 mph) 7. Rallied on back dirt roads 8. Refused to do an oil change for over a year (and anything else the car needed) 9. Pulled spark plug wirees out for weeks at a time to see what would happen 10. Let 18 year old borrow car and rail on it as hard as he could (Roach II) 11. Drove down highway at full throttle in drive 1 12. Took it "off-roading" 13. Used Ram bar to push anything one could think of, including a trash container that weighted more than any car sold 14. Jumped, walked on, hit with things on the hood, roof & trunk Any other suggestions?
  23. GMCTruckGuy74 - My wife does the same thing to me. I would almost kill a person for her to get rid of that ugly gas hog of hers. I've recommended and offered MUCH nicer newer or new cars and she just doesn't want to give up Roach III. For those out there that want to argue cost of ownership of a new car vs an old gas hog, let me give you the break down. 2000 miles per month (gas alone) Roach III = $467 2008 Malibu = $233 NEW Malibu gas savings = $233 per month Add the constant repairs / maintenance that an old well used car needs (averages $1500 a year) and well . . . I give credit to GM for building a car that is so durable, but it's time these old cars are put out to pasture. They eat at the earth and people's pocket books for no reason. Sorry to those that are in love with these cars. I'm just getting tired of pouring money into a car that only she is willing to ride in. My kids hate it and I get tired of it eating my money. As of late she keeps using and abusing my car because I keep complaining about the amount of gas it costs to run the Roach.
