This one. that is, if I have $70,000 and only if they sell these things in US. Probably the only Korean car I like that is hand-made.

Pontiac G8 to start at $27,595 | Ordering Guide
Diehard GrandPrix Fan replied to Lamar's topic in Heritage Marques
I won't buy it, since 1. I hate the styling. Too Plain 2. I absolutely hate the interier 3. Costs too much for what it is 4. Not a pure American Pontiac 5. Lacks personality to be a Pontiac 6. It's a reason that my next car Grand Prix is dying for. I hate that. -
Hyundai Pickup Truck May Be in the Pipeline
Diehard GrandPrix Fan replied to Intrepidation's topic in Hyundai
I am a Korean myself but I don't really have love for Hyundais, for Kia, I kinda like them btw, even though Hyundai now owns them. When I saw this Kia Pick Up concept in the Auto show a whille back along with the video in the show-floor showing the automatic seats moving back and forth remotely to aid in gettin in and out and other duties, I thought it was pretty nifty, and thought, "this has a potential, and I think it will sell in US". But, now Kia just announced the new SUV using the same name of this concept, I was like, Oh, so, they finally scraped the idea. So. To me, I don't think we will see pick ups from the Korean make anytime soon, well, it could, but not very soon. an old concept from Kia called 'Mojave' which most of you probably have seen. -
You ready for a V8-powered, RWD coupe from Hyundai?
Diehard GrandPrix Fan replied to BrewSwillis's topic in Hyundai
Um, just out of curiosity, what do you have against Toyotas? No, I am not a fan of Toyota nor any Japanese cars for I hate them as well, but I wouldn't prey to have a giant company whose doing so well to crumble. That will be a sin(well, I couldn't think of the better word, well, sue me, I wasn't born in the English speaking country anyway so). I hate Japanese due to my countries history, but I wouldn't go that far to wish for their failure. Just wonderring. -
I am sure most of you have seen this by now. This is the pic that Road & Track magazine have put in their November issue. I have already posted this on my new, car site, but just wanted to share the pic here too since nobody here posted the pic. Honestly, I prefer the current Tiburon in looks, since to me, it looks pretty generic for a sports car, even though people say, sports cars all tend to look alike, but this new design does not break any new ground and lacks the unique personality that the current Tiburons have in my opinion. The magazine also saids that there is a posibility that Hyundai will throw in the V8 engine that is to be used on the Genesis sedan into the Tiburon as well, but I don't think the chance of that happening is that good.

New Interior Shots of Hyundai Genesis
Diehard GrandPrix Fan replied to Autoholic217's topic in Hyundai
Well, I would wait. It's still in a prototype status, so anything can happen to that interior. I hope they do a better job in dressing up the interior when it finally goes on sale. As Korean myself, I also think it's pretty ugly. They certainly should have done a better job than that. -
To be honest, and I know I may be the only one. I prefer the current one, or even better, I prefer the original Daewoo Kalos which is the car it is based on(though they aren't much different, I like the headlight area and the grill of the Korean version here more).

Hyundai Concept Genesis
Diehard GrandPrix Fan replied to Flybrian's topic in New York International Auto Show (NYIAS)
Well, I kinda like it believe it or not. Comming from Hyundai especially. I really wished they'd keep the fancy headlights that they had on that concept(which I actually saw in person in the NY Auto Show, and believe me, it looks way better than the picture shows, and way bigger than you can imagine when it comes to the size). Rumor has it that, if the Genesis succeeds in customer reaction and in sales and all, Hyundai may create a new luxury division like the Japanese Toyota, Honda, and Nissand did with their Lexus, Acura, and Infinity, which I think is not a bad idea. Provided, only IF they succeed with this big sedan, which is a question mark, since most Americans still consider Hyundai as nothing more than a cheap, breakable cars which they were in the mid 80's when they first exported their excels to US. Even though the models they are selling right now are far better and advanced than those Excels and the 1st generation Sonatas were, well, in my opinion.(I have never owned a Hyundai so) Too bad it will lose one of the rival that it will compete against when it debuts. Grand Prix won't be there to compete against this low ball Korean make(since I was hoping that Pontiac would update the mechanic and styling for 09 for the Grand Prix, but oh well.). To me, G8, and other cars in the same leaque will eat this Hyundai alive since they have much larger fan-base and reputation than the Hyundai, however much price advantage this big car has. I heard that their Veracruz isn't selling well since it is simply more expensive than the other Hyundai models, so.... -
I am not going to get involved in this argument anymore. It turned out ugly as I can see as some of you fighting over the matter. All that matters to me now is that, my mind is already set and my decision is firm that I am determined to get the last, true, ORIGINAL, American Designed Pontiac before Luts(aka, Pontiac hater) makes a stupid mistake killing it like they did to Firebird. Well, the brand new 08 models, though it isn't any differ to the 07. That's all that matters to me. I agree btw, the current line up of Pontiac is pathetic. Aside from their best selling G6, last breed of Grand Prix, and the Solstice which was so popular that later spawned Saturn version(though GM already had it planned), the rest of line up can be easily laughed at and forgettable. Vibe is nothing more than a recycled Toyota(even the new 09 model I can tell), G5 being only a copy of Chevy Cobalt trash with a pontiac grill, G8 being nothing more than a re-badged Holden Monaro(or is it commodore, I forget, the two looks confusing to me) which to me, do not FIT in Pontiac styling unless they make some restyles on it, and correct me if I am wrong, Torrent seems just like a modified version of Chevy's Equinnox, which I NEVER liked, though Torrent has a better look, that is sportier. Well, I am still hunting for the best price on my next Grand Prix, so I will just leave it at that. Hey, everyone have his/her right to have opinions, but to me, GM is just making another STUPID mistake. They can just bring back Grand Prix along with G8, after making some update to the Grand Prix(which dates back to the 1970s, that has history) and also add in newly updated models of Fiero or something, to really have the chance to compete, and in line of the ever-expanding Chevy line up. Pontiac needs some good NEW models as well. As is, they won't make much money as they should. Well, that's how I see it. About the only other gripe I have about Pontiac in addition to it, is their new naming scheme, They should stop putting numbers after G. There are so many good names they can use for a car rather than taking lazy way out of just adding number to the alphabet. Well, it worked for an Audi, but the same naming game won't work for more than 1 make, and certainly Pontiac is not one of them. Well, that's my opinion.

I personally think this version: http://www.gminsidenews.com/naias/revitali...iacria/g8.shtml looks way better since it looks like it's an updated version of the current Grand Prix which in my opinion, is the most BEAUTIFUL car that I am getting this December. I hope the production G8 goes in that direction in terms of styling and hope esp, the interior gets re-done completely, since I absolutely hate the current interior which is a garbage. For a $28,000 car, it is just too over-done and busy, too wild. I am not sure if this is believable or any real, but I hope it is accurate. I still hope 2008 isn't the last for Grand Prix. I hope GM changes their mind about Grand Prix, since it is one of the last remaining, American Designed, Pure Pontiac that I love. Cut above the same bodied Chevy Impala(that I hate) and anything in it's price range in my honest opinion. (I don't care much about the power since GM is known to give the most powerful engine only to its BABY, Chevy).
-
Thank you. Well, yeah, that was the pic that the magazine had. It looks pretty much the same to the Statesman so I guess I got confused with the 2. Still, it looks far better than the G8 we are going to see in US. Hopefully G8 gets some major, major restyles done to both inside and out(esp, interior) before they ship it to here. Since current G8 looks pretty disgusting.
-
Really? I didn't know. I am not living in Korea anymore so.... But I hope it isn't as ugly as the G8 is. Even though I won't see Korean version here in the state side.
-
Well, I've seen that car in the Motor Trend(or was it a motor trend?) about couple months back, and they said the car name is LX4 and it had that car pic. So, I think that is what the Korean market is getting for the G8 variation so....
-
I just found this in Google, from the site called gmtvfeedroom.com. The Korean version of the G8, and personally, I think this version even looks better than all the G8 pics floating around. The interior is nice and dark, and in ONE color, unlike that ugly red and black seats that looks too wild for any age for the $28,000 car. If G8 looks something close to this, then I have no problem, I would still want the Grand Prix to sell as 09 in ADDITION to G8, but since GM WANTS to make the foolish mistake again killing it, oh well.... http://gmtv.feedroom.com/?skin=oneclip&...78885cd0&rf

In my honest opinion, if Luts really wants to IMPORT Holden, he should establish its OWN division under GM, not using the current, already established, classic division as his excuse to bring them in. To me, that's cheating, for all the Pontiac Fans. I am not saying Holden's are bad cars, but if they want business here, they should build their own store to do business, rather than BURROWING, and using the well-established store to take easy way out selling THEIR products. Well, that's how I see it, this so called GLOBAL project is not only ridiculous, but absurd, and STUPID that should have NEVER have brought up in the first place for ANY GM Division. Period.

08 Grand Prix will be my last Pontiac as well. Unless they bring back the Firebird, or the likes of Fiero, even 6000(updated of course). It is my third Pontiac already and I am the die hard, loyal fan of Pontiac and all, but, Mr. Luts, so called, Pontiac Hater, is just forcing me to walk away from my favorite brand. I know the zeta platform and Holden are very good platform and very good car, but to me, it is only workable in Australia. It doesn't work for me for U.S. well, at least for me. They should really learn to use the US resource of designers to design their cars rather than relying oversea counterparts. If they want to sell the G8 here, that car really needs some rework in styling both inside and out. Ever since Mr.Luts took charge, Pontiac is in a steady downfall and only ONE brand is prospering. The Chevys. If he really kills Pontiac in this fashion, after I get my 08 Grand Prix, and when it comes to buying my next car, I may have to give the Europeans a nod(which are far more expensive, since I hate the Japanese and I will never get it, and NEVER a chevy). Luts is succeeding in losing the loyal Pontiac Fan. Though one person will be nothing for them, but, if he continue to turn the American car maker such as Pontiac as nothing more than the copies of the cars made by down under, GM will lose the potential customers one by one, and later, will only have Chevy as their lone brand, which is ridiculous. They already screwed up Saab, and Buicks also losing some of its potential models, now they are killing their performance division by turning it into Aussie car maker. Bad Move Bad Move, and you have yet made another big mistake again Bobby Luts. Killing Firebird was enough, don't screw up again.
-
Chances are, they will keep the Impala and kill the better version which is Grand Prix since GM and Mr.Luts(Pontiac Hater) only cares about Chevy. Impala probably will go on without GP which is RIDICULOUS.

Sketch Competition #22 - The Next HHR
Diehard GrandPrix Fan replied to Flybrian's topic in Sketch Competitions
I know mine sucks, but imho, I think the drawings hers are pretty darn good. I wonder if this contest will start anytime soon, though I am only in for fun. -
If Grand Prix dies, Impala should die as well. TO HELL.

Sketch Competition #22 - The Next HHR
Diehard GrandPrix Fan replied to Flybrian's topic in Sketch Competitions
Sorry for double posting(hey, my previous post was last night so), but I actually took the time and draw the HHR. It's back(though it's crooked, I don't why, but I am having trouble getting them to look right ), and its dash. Well, I hate what it turned out, and as usual, I admit my crudeness for I know I suck in drawing, but hope you enjoy. You can laugh all you want, so use these instead of the Aveo that I have posted here. As usual, I don't care people hates it, laugh about it or what not, but drawing is my free time activity after work sometimes. When I am not on PS2 playing, or coding in front of the computer, that's what I do, so.... Hope you enjoy them, though they suck. -
Hyundai Concept Genesis
Diehard GrandPrix Fan replied to Flybrian's topic in New York International Auto Show (NYIAS)
I am sure most of you have seen this by now. The concept Genesis. The spy photo that is floating around the net and rumor has it that, the production ready car has been seen, that looks very much like the concept except that the headlight is now a normal version, not the fancy one you saw on the concept. Well, I hope it does well as well, since, as a Korean myself, I would love to see Hyundai grow from a cheap car maker to an upgraded status. By seeing their recent products, I can see that the Korean makes are learning from their mistakes and building a better, more quality laden cars these days, which is a good sign, though I won't buy Korean cars, but I wish them a good luck and hope they succeed. -
To me, it looks original enough, with a few parts here and there that they burrowed, like most companys do these days. Burrowing better designs and intergrates to it. To me, it looks like a Kia version of Hyundai's I30. I am not a fan of neither since I don't like small cars, but it doesn't look too bad. It's only for Korea and Europe right? Too bad we won't see it in the Stateside anytime soon.

BMW and Mercedes aren't the only ones that Chinese copied. Hey, everyone's doing it these days you say? No, what the Chinese are doing is way beyond that. They just build the EXACT same car to every inch of the spec without any change, remove the original brand's logo, put their own and call it their own. Korea's Daewoo and Kia are also the victim of it. Daewoo's Matiz was ripped off by Chery Motor's by their model called QQ. Which is about 98% copy and sold for lot less in China. The Chinese also imported Kia Sorento, removed the badging and replaced it with their own and claimed it it's their's saying 'China's version of Kia Sorento'. It's gone too far to the fashion that it is just pitiful. Chinese should be banned from the automotive market if they are not going to design their own cars. Especially if they want to export any of them, since all they would face is the lawsuit if they continue to do this.

What is Pontiac's current slogan?
Diehard GrandPrix Fan replied to gm4life's topic in Heritage Marques
Um, on the very first flap of 2008 brochure of Pontiac it reads 'Design + Performance at the speed of Light'. I am thinking that's their slogan right now. Right now, Pontiac is like the only brand I know who NEVER advertises, whether it be a newspaper, radio nor TV. I don't see ANY advertisements anywhere. I don't think they are spending any money advertizing their products. I mean, they don't have many exciting cars like they used to in about few years ago, but they still have some very good cars like Grand Prix(the one I am getting soon) or the Solstice, or their hot-selling G6. I mean, don't they want to make money? Hmmm. -
2007 Pontiac Grand Prix
Diehard GrandPrix Fan replied to Oracle of Delphi's topic in Heritage Marques
Well, I am getting one this December. I am trying to get a good deal now on an '08. I just want to get it before GM makes a foolish mystake again by killing it after 08 model year. I want to catch one before it goes away.
