  1. GM isn't worth -$37billion, even if that shows up on the balance sheet as the stockholders equity value. First, nothing can be worth less than zero; second, since GM is publicly traded, GM is worth whatever its market cap is at any given moment.
  2. Next question, then: why not?

  4. Assuming he's not ruling out 2-seater coupes, maybe a Solstice coupe?...

  6. Yes, it's a paper loss. But it tells us GM is not expecting significant profits over the next few years: more restructuring/downsizing. Look at the buyouts for 74K people they're seeking. 74k people is the number of employees represented by the UAW. There's still a huge task ahead
  7. A colleague from college did part time in a mobile phone company's call center. One that I remeber him telling us was: I want to delete a text message and I'm getting a 'Do you want to delete? yes/no' message - Which option do I choose?

  9. A question: should XLR offer a model with the DI V6? What are everybody's thoughts on that?
  10. The American market isn't growing, Russia and other emerging markets are, so those markets are more relevant (strategically) than America. EDIT - In M&A talk those markets represent future growth opportunities.

  14. No price cutting. Discounting itself and destroying brand hierarchy (which has to be reflected in prices) is the reason GM got into the trouble they have. They'll get new product. I wonder if a nice Gamma-based 2 seat convertible with turbo engines could make an interesting Sonnet I have to check for numbers later, but Saab's reportedly doing well in Eastern Europe as a whole. IIRC around 50% of the forecasted volume growth in Russia in premium brands (Saab-Cadillac-Hummer) will be Saab. Adding 10K/year on Russia alone would be very important for Saab's future.
  15. Well, the 'spy' is Pedro Ribeiro, 31 years old, born in Lisbon (Portugal). The 'spy' works for a French company called Mazars. There's really nothing more to me that I think is worth sharing here. I am just a car fan who loves GM and the brand represented in my avatar.

The Viper has been essential in fighting the K-car stigma, but money rules and I suspect Chrysler does not have that much money left. Add to that the fact that Cerberus (like many other PE firms) was really into high financial leverage deals and that accessing debt markets is harder now.

I had a hilarious one: 1. Meeting at a client. 2. Client arrives 1 hour late. 3. Client sits down and asks me 'so, what are we supposed to talk about today?'. Speaking of the car, it looks like a slightly fatter Accord (bc to me it's an Accord - No Acura here).
