    The Av is gone

    I wish you a speedy recovery, K.C.
  3. *ouch* poor dog
  4. I'm late but happy b-day, sir!
  5. I don't work for GM so I don't know. People on GMI refer to the '08 CTS as being on Sigma II.

  8. Quoted for relevance.

  10. I think there was once a plan for a NG Sigma. Before Zeta became the RWD platform of choice.
  11. I agree with you in general terms that the face of a company might ruin it's reputation/image, but what face are you talking about? Carl-Peter Forster? With a couple of exceptions, the people who post here never met the man, nor have they read anything regarding his vision of the auto business... I can only speak for myself, but I would love to talk to him, as much as I'd love to talk to Lutz, Wagoner, or any top executive of GM, Ford, Chrysler, or any other automaker. To me it's about undestanding the evolution of the business: as simple as that.
  12. I think the frame was inspired by the Y-body (the structural central tunnel), and the other parts are essentially from the parts bin.
  13. You forgot one: diesel can be subsidized by being taxed less than gasoline, making it easier to recoup higher MSRP for diesel cars. That's an important part of the economics of diesel popularity here in Europe. :AH-HA_wink:
  14. But people want Pontiac to offer RWD, and the news here is about a FWD minicar. Pontiac could get a 1-Series sized Alpha (let's call it the G4 for branding/naming logic purposes) that would fit under the G6 in a G4-G6-G8(?) lineup.
  15. I've had a fantasy of a modern day Sonnet using the Tigra undeprinings and a powerful small turbo I4, but at this point I don't think that will happen: new 9-5, 9-4X, 9-1 are priorities.

  18. I think the Corvette will remain V8-powered. That's a model I don't see GM getting too creative with, except on what was hinted by the Autoblog story: a lighter car with a smaller engine that would get similar or slightly better performance.

    just checking

I misinterpreted you then. Thanks for clarifying that.

My post had nothing to do with that, and that does not make C&G statistically representative of the car buying universe. If you pooled all the car enthusiast forums together, maybe you'd be lucky enough to get a statistically representative sample. Like PCS said we barely know each other, but please refer to my new avatar: I find that picture delightful!
  22. I believe the Kappa cars moving to Bowling Green, KY is indication of the two architectures merging. Maybe there will be a 'small' (i.e., Solstice/Sky) and a 'large' (i.e., Corvette/XLR) version of a NG Y-body/Kappa, or maybe a high percentage of component sharing.
