  1. Well, one thing to say, synthetic oil is "cleaner" than regular oil, so there is a good chance that Mobil 1 is doing a better job of cleaning the engine and you're still getting some deposits that are being cleaned out from the 12,000 miles of running dino juice.
  2. If it were my ball of wax, I'd tell her just like everyone else has told you to tell her. At the least, she'll know, and maybe it'll bring her around. Like with Amy and me. When I first met her, I felt an instant click (the old addage of love at first sight), but I, shortly after meeting her, learned she was just ending up a bad relationship. So, being respectful like I am, I waited a small amount of time instead of more or less just telling her how I feel. During that time, her and the other guy patched things up for a little while (and I thank God for this), they fell back apart and the rest is history, we've been married for two+ years now and we've got squirt. I'm happy, she's happy, it all works. Here's what I say do, pray about it tonight, see what the man upstairs said (I did it for three months before asking Amy to marry me), if he says go for it, then you'll know. If not, keep praying about it and take matters into your hands. Ask her out for something innocent, coffee, a burger, heck even a milkshake somewhere, whatever, just get her. Then lay it out there, just tell her what you feel in your heart. Watch her body language, a lot of women won't say anything, but their bodies doggone sure will. If she seems thoughtful about it, then you've got a chance, if not, then you might have to bide your time. And if she slaps you in your face or laughs at you, then well.....you'll know.
  3. After 3k on the Cobalt, the oil still looks relatively clean. Sure, its darker than it was when it came out of the bottle, but it isn't "sludge black". And Sly is right, the dirtier the oil coming out of the filter when you change it, the overall cleaner the oil running through the engine is. Although by the same token, the dirtier the oil is coming out of the filter, the more restrictive the filter will be when it comes to passing more oil out through it as time goes on.
  4. Most of the models I've built are Revell/Monogram, I've build a few AMT models, and I can say that I didn't really like them, dunno what it was, but always seemed less detailed, yet harder to build than a comparable Revell/Monogram model. I still build them when I can, matter of fact, I've got a 1:72 scale F-14D Super Tomcat that needs to be built, along with a few others that I wouldn't mind building. My #1 that I've been keeping a lookout for is a 1:12 scale '69 Camaro.
  5. Ooh, now someone do a GTA 76ChevyTrucker version of one of the Chevy Trucks in there and I'll be quite happy.
  6. She looks good man, I'd buy it!
  7. Here's the only really bad experience I had with a dealership. I went with a friend of mine to the local Mercedes Dealer (her mom's car needed to be taken in for service), so whilst she's getting the MB into the bay and all that paperwork, I'm cruising the lot in my "normal" clothes (shorts, t-shirt, flip-flops if weather permits) and a salesperson walks up to me and asks how I'm doing. I respond cordially with an "I'm fine, just looking around while my friend is having her mom's car serviced" So far, so good, right? Wrong, after that he procedes to ask me what I'm driving, I tell him a '99 Pontiac Grand Am coupe, from that point on I'm treated like toxic waste...he kinda scoffs and says, "If you require assistance, our Pre-owned lot is right over there" and walks off(guess they thought I didn't have the bones to lay down for a nice, new, over-engineered, Mercedes Benz). Anyway, had to leave the car in the bay, as it was late in the afternoon and they wouldn't be able to finish up till the next morning (btw the service guys were OUTSTANDING!). The next day I come back with her, although this time I'm in a full business suit (had a presentation to give for class that day), and I'm tooling around the lot. The SAME BLOODY salesperson comes out and treats me like I'm a pot of gold.... Needless to say I lit into him like he'd just slapped someone I loved, basically I told him that I was just here yesterday, YES you helped me into NOT EVER buying a vehicle from there in my entire life because when I first came, I was in "less than money" clothes so you treated me like hammered doggy doo. Oh, but let me come in here with a suit and suddenly I'm your best friend. Nah, I'll take my time, money, and vehicles elsewhere.

  9. I know that the CarQuest number for the 2.2L DOHC EcoTech engine (such as the one in the wife's Cobalt) is a number 84082, as far as the actual Wix number, I'm not sure, but most of the time, the last three digits of a Wix filter and ours are the same. I like the filters that I put into the Cobalt and my Impala, they keep the oil relatively clean for the mileage put on the vehicles, and they'll come with the necessary gaskets needed to do the complete job.
  10. Oh yeah, I'm a daily/regular visitor there.
  11. Wix not only supplies NAPA's filters, but also CarQuest's filters. K&N is too expensive for a bloody oil filter unless you're racing and need to be able to saftey wire the filter in place. I'd got with a Wix fitler, Purolator is all right, but I wouldn't go really happy with them.
  12. No more stir-craziness, the wife and kid came back home, I actually got a full night's sleep and all is well. And you did see an auto plant along the side of I-65 just south of Montgomery, its the first (and only) Hyundia plant in the US. They currently produce he Sonata, and the Santa Fe at the plant....
  13. Happy birthday sir!
  14. basically yeah, you would. Now as far as swapping radios, what you would have to do is cut the harness off of your radio from the geo, leaving bare wires attached to the back of the radio. From there you should purchase an adapter harness for the Shadow, and from there you'll be matching colors to the back of the radio.
  15. Truthfully you make the most horsepower at high-er rpms, and since the transmission has to spin normally 3 times faster to transfer the power from the engine to the ground, when its spinning about 4 grand, the transmission is spinning about 12......so I'd say that the torque would be worst to the axles and differential portion of the transaxle, but the high-rpm would be more harmful to the transmission.
  16. Nor would I sirs, nor would I.
  17. Saabs are welcome, just as the core GM brands. Glad you're here, hope you enjoy yourself.
  18. Beautiful pups there Camino....and I like the names tying into Corvette history.
  19. damned young whippersnappers (imagine in an old man voice)
  20. Yeah, I run I-65 and 85 every day and I am SOOO glad that road construction is coming through to fix the mining pit-sized potholes..... And widen the road.
  21. Glad you like it, I wanna see pictures though.
  22. Eh, I sell parts for a living and work on cars as a part-time thing. I have to know what I'm doing, and I have to be able to describe to those who don't know what's happening so they'll be able to take care of the problem (and understand why I'm fixing what I'm fixing if I'm working on theirs).
