'GM's New Brand Strategy: Chevy Uber Alles'
76ChevyTrucker replied to HarleyEarl's topic in General Motors
I know that right now, since Cadillac has turned around and Saturn is getting new products and being the American Opel (although part of me would like to see Opels on the road here in the US since my father-in-law has five Opel GTs) Pontiac and GMC really need to be the focus. Turn them around like they did with Cadillac and the show will be on the road. That'll really only leave Chevy to be really turned around, although with ideas like a RWD Zeta-based sedan and Camaro coming around the corner, their turn around is started too. -
I enjoy seeing things like this. Thanks for posting it Fly.

Youse guys suck. No comments....wow

Electronic Throttle is good, the wife's cobalt has it. As far as the 3.5, it is the same family of engines that brought GM the 2.8, 3.1, and 3.4. There aren't supposed to be anymore intake manifold failures (actually its the acid-based properties of the antifreeze combined with it coming into contact with RTV), due to a redesigned intake manifold and gasket combination.

Now THAT is funny.
-
I want one! It would look great sitting beside my '76. I like how both of the trucks draw from their heritage.
-
I'd definitely like to see billboards like that going up around here. I'd get a kick out of it.
-
Yeah, it does have a sort of natural flow, or evolution to it.
-
I woudln't mind seeing some more youth-focused Cadillac ads.

That's more or less what I was thinking. And believe me if I were to buy it, I'd replumb the entire fuel system and brakes. I don't trust lines that are that old if I don't know the history behind them. As far as the rust issue, there isn't really a thing such as surface rust, but there aren't any holes in the body, not a single one, its just a mild rust from where paint has been knocked off. All the body panels are solid.

Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit: A GM Tag Line?
76ChevyTrucker replied to Northstar's topic in The Lounge
I'd like to see that as a tag for all of GM. -

All right, ladies, gents, I don't know how many of you have been or are in the Bowling Green, KY area, but I took a little side trip up there today whilst the rest of the family was enjoying our annual Family Reunion in Portland, TN. I've got some pictures from the NCM, just thought I'd like to share. Hmmm...maybe it time to replace the wagon....
76ChevyTrucker replied to daves87rs's topic in The Lounge
I always get dirty looks when I'm in my truck, but I don't give a $h!. Its been in my family since it was new back in '76, and I really don't care what you think of it. You weren't there when I decided on the color, flames, cartoon characters on the back, roll pan, custom interior, stereo or anything else. And since you weren't there, guess what, your opinion doesn't count one ounce of $h! with me. Meanwhile when I'm in my Impala, I get a lot a "semi-dirty" looks then when I tell them it gets 30+ miles per gallon, their attitude changes. -
I would buy it now, but I don't have 300 clams!

I am 23, married for 1.75-years, and my wife is due on our first rug rat in mid-January, although given my grandad, dad, and my one-month early arrival, I think I'm going to have a Christmas baby.

Governor (as in automotive related governors).

If I had the money and the availability, I'd go for the V8 Aurora, but he V6 is a reliable and sturdy car, I haven't heard complaint number one from the people that I know that drive them.

All right, I was down at a friend of mine's shop just shooting the breeze with him when I noticed a car sitting in his back lot. I saw the Buick herald and asked what year it was. He told me that it was a 1964 Buick 225. The body was in great shape, just needed some paint and needed to have a little surface rust knocked off. The interior was in good shape, actually, great shape. The engine even ran without any problems. The only problem, needed to have the brake system completely replumbed. I asked him how much. My answer: $300.00. I dunno about you guys, but that sounds like a steal for a classic Duece-and spare change. Just curious though, which engine is it? I didn't get a chance to pop the hood, I just got to hear it purr.

Bad drivers tend to own... Honda? Toyota? VW?
76ChevyTrucker replied to Sixty8panther's topic in The Lounge
I normally don't have trouble with "normal" people on the road, but ricers seem to attract my anger and road rage much more. Lets think about this, you're going to drive along in front of my 5,200-lb truck and slam on the brakes just for $h!s and giggles....Hmmmm....... -
Are you more courteous to Domestic drivers?
76ChevyTrucker replied to avant1963's topic in The Lounge
All right, I tend to be more domestically biased when it comes to my driving, however if someone is tailgating me without good reason, then I WILL give them a "think fast" and hope that they eat the ass of my Impala, so I can get out and stomp a mud hole into them. Now if I'm in my truck, I have a slightly different approach. I flip one switch which actuates power to a set of ignition coils, spark then travels to a set of AC Delco R45TS spark plugs strategically mounted in the tail pipes. Then I downshift into second and let the perfectly set, slightly-rich Holley 675cfm 4-bbl dump all the nice, pretty, raw fuel into the exhaust pipes. You can only imagine the reaction at that point. -
I haven't heard any problems out of them and I'm in the parts business. The probable words of caution are the normal "first year woes" that most people get/have whenever a new car comes out. Supposedly you don't want to ever buy from the first year because that's when you'll have all the bugs in it and they might come up and bite you in the ass.
-
I'll take my 30-year old, third-generation owned '76. I can't beat it (except with a Caterpillar D10, or a Mk-85 500-lb GP bomb), and its been a family hierloom for me. Besides, of all the vehicles in the family, its the only one that's got all three of our (granddad, dad, and me) blood sweat and tears into it.
-
I've only got one thing to say. Whilst everyone else rags on the 4.3L V6 and the 4-spd trans. I like the truck, I like the engine choices, and I like having a 4-spd transmission. I mean you don't bloody need six gears to cruise around town with a load of lumber. Its not a damned Peterbuilt conventional hauling 115,000-lbs of timber across a muddy backroad..... All right, rant over. I think that the trucks will sale, no matter what, I like the GMC more than the Chevy, I agree with everyone else, the GMC looks much more masculine.
