  1. Boa Constrictor
  2. crash-rated, grill-covered fog lamps for those gruelling off-road races.
  3. *twitches and drools* WHOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOO! I was waiting for this announcement. Must pay off Impala, get our kid grown enough to be out of a car seat, and then I shall buy one of these monsters.
  4. eh, it doesn't look all that good at all, I'm sorry to say.
  5. Yeah, it is hard, but the more reports like this that come out, the more people that will read them and start to understand that American products ARE just as good, in fact, probably better than most imports.
  6. Balance Shaft. It can also be found in some later 4.3L engines, along with numerous Honda 4-banger engines. If I remember right, the 60* V6s don't have such things as balance shafts, although I could be wrong.
  7. Speaking of this problem, I've had to sell the first set of lower ball joints for a Liberty today to one of our shops. Customer wasn't happy at all, its only got about 26,000 miles on it.
  8. what about cops? Hell, my car IS a 9C1, and some of my best friends are cops.
  9. He's not. I've seen similar happen before when I was just out and about at a couple of dealerships. A salesperson will tell you anything you want to hear to make the deal, doesn't matter if its true or not. They are there to make a deal, nothing more, nothing less.
  10. Yeah, but the problem with that is that there could be so much misinformation about the whole thing that by then you could end up with a really screwd up movie.
  11. Hey, its like I've said before. I even have a good mileage getting car. Its 5 years old, has the "coarse" "decrepit" "insert deversive comment" 3.8L V6 in it and still turns roughly 32mph without trying.
  12. I normally don't even interact with the salesman, other an a simple "I'm just looking" until I find what I want. If they don't have it, I might inquire about it, or I might take my checkbook elsewhere.
  13. We Were Soldiers is equally accurate without the Hollywood stuff.
  14. Easy test here. To check for a power draw, or possibly a bad battery. Go drive the car for a while, then park it, disconnect, the battery cables for the 30-ish hour period. After that, reconnect them. If she fires up like nothing happened then you've got something (could be the trunk light, or a light in the dash somewheres, or something like that drawing power). If she doesn't fire, I suggest looking into buying a battery.
  15. Y'all know that the "options" youse guys named off actually sound like some real options on cars these days. I also agree with Fly, seeing mom cracked on the head by the rear hatch, then watching her legs just kinda kick wildly and a muffled scream coming from the back of the van whilst the hatch is closed is a hilarious mental picture.
  16. Now this is something I've heard from the local Toyota dealership tech that comes into my store when he needs parts for his own toys (none of which are from Toyota). There is apparently a C-clip at the end of the transmission clutch assembly shaft that will break, causing you, the driver, to lose 2nd and 5th.
  17. I still don't see the reason for having a "mega cab" option, if you want that much freaking leg room, go buy an SUV, then you get the nicety of a "covered" cargo area. I mean sheesh, what happened to the old days of a Suburban being basically a Chevrolet C10 1/2 pickup with a permanently attached camper shell and two extra doors? Now everything has to get rid of bed area to include someone's precious leg room. If you want leg room, get a crew cab, dually truck with a long bed and call it a freaking day. By the way, I KNOW GM's trucks get overloaded every day, and you still see them chugging down the road as happy as they were the day that they were driven off the lot. I hardly ever see a Tundra going anywhere with ANYTHING in the bed.
  18. nah, GM has never had a problem with crappy ball joints, however they have torn up many an idler arm and pitman arm on the older trucks. Being a parts guy I get to hear all sorts of things about suspension and steering components and I haven't once heard a peep about an abnormal amount of GM trucks coming in with catastrophic ball joint failure.
  19. As the owner of a black metallic gloss 01 Impala. I doubly agree with your statement. Although my car hasn't seen a good bath in about a month, its going to get one this weekend by hook or by crook.
  20. Gotta love those response letters. Its good to see GM hitting back with something like that. I know that most people around here don't get the paper, or if they do, then they get it just because, not really to read it.
  21. This is absolutely stellar to hear about. I've been drooling at used F-bodies around here as a "last fling" before the baby comes, but with this announcement. I might just wait, save my pennies and put down the cold hard cash when the new toy comes out. As far as engines are concerned, I'm thinking 3.6 VVT V6 with about 250-275 horses, then moving up to a 5.3 DOD V8 with about 300-340 horses, then a SS-model engine, either 6.0L, or 6.2L w/ DOD with about 360-400 horse, and finally, and in very limited production runs a very special-edition Camaro with the wonderful hand-built 7.0L with about 470-horses. Something that would bring you right up into middle-Vette country without stepping on toooo many toes. Besides, a car like that would be VERY low production, so no harm, no foul.
  22. disagree
  23. Mafia, definitely mafia. Here's the shot.
  24. I didn't go see Flight 93 for the same reason. I don't want to get that angry again. I remember when it happened, I was in my dorm room, getting ready for an Economics class when the first plane hit. At that point, I didn't even go to class, I kept watching the TV when the tears started falling. Next thing that happened is I sprinted to my Detatchment building (I was USAFROTC at the time), and caught it all with the rest of my Detatchment. After that, we all went and gave blood and got ready to head out. It was then that I got to be deployed to Seymour Johnson AFB and help marshall F-15s on Operation Noble Eagle (the aircraft patrols set up along the US coastline to keep extra things like this from happening).
