  1. For Sale, Camino - If you know anyone interested in a clean 1963 Avanti that just needs finishing touches, send them this way.
  2. And 2011 Buick LaCrosse CXL V-6 in White Diamond Pearl in. First Buick I have ever owned and my wife loves it. And here is an interesting "Quiet Tuning" that I found. In the wheel wells which usually have just black plastic in the LaCrosse there is some padding material set up to absorb some of the road noise from the tires and road.
  3. I have actually started to like the door locks there - it was strange at first - but much like not having key slots in the passenger-side doors and the hatch - I find myself using the door locks less and less because of the autolock - and with it right on the dash everyone knows where it is if they want to open the door and the car is just in Drive. And that steering wheel works well. Does every car that GM makes have to have a different steering wheel? I don't get the complaints. And the thing worth complaining about, the ugly fake plood, you leave out.
  4. Thanks guys. Just got back from Englishtown Swap Meet. No real great cars there because of pending rain - and the swap meet part is getting $h!tier and $h!tier by the year. Going to have some Stuff Yer Face bolis and a few pints of Hop Devil IPA tonight to celebrate.
  5. I've logged about 1500 miles on my 2011 Terrain SLT2 3.0 and it is the most comfortable and ergonomic GM vehicle I have ever owned. Went to Atlantic City this week and pulled about 26mpg average on the trip - not too bad in a CUV. the only small complaint is that I would like to have the 3.6 in it. I think a lot of my struggle is getting used to the 6 speed - in the 4 speeds you were never far from the power band - you have to cruise a little different with this. Just something I am getting used to - but I could always use more power. I wanted the SLT2 because I love the chrome grille and different back bumper - makes it stand out more from the other Terrains that are roaming central NJ. Wish your sister good luck with it. I see she got the nav - that's the one thing I did not opt for. I'd rather have the 3.0 instead of the nav, but I'm sure it's nice.
  6. Other than the 2.8 in my Fiero, this is the smallest displacement I ever owned, so there was no way I was going to take the 2.4.
  7. I figured with FWD I'm not all that worried. If I picked up a full-size Sierra I would go for the 4WD. I don't go skiing or travel up north, so for the couple of snow storms we are getting, FWD is fine. I warmed to the style a lot. I like it better than the more car-looking Equinox.
  8. Hello all, Long time no post. I still stalk but don't engage much. There's not much in the automotive world that I am much passionate about anymore - so I'm still paying attention, but not too engaged. Love to see Toyota implode but hate to see belief that Hyundai is the second coming. I've buried myself in history and politics (ugh!)... but enough about me. I just wanted to throw out a pic of my new ride - a 2011 GMC Terrain SLT2 3.0 FWD in Steel Blue Metallic. It has basically every option but AWD and Nav/monitors. I traded in my 2006 Malibu MAXX SS - which served me well and I got good $ on a trade because it only has 32,000 miles on it. Plus the GM card bump and loyalty got lease payments super low. What a difference the interior on this is just compared to my 2006 - everything feels good, works smoothly and looks good. I took an Acadia for a ride also, and though I liked the power of the 3.6, it is just too much vehicle for me at this time - I don't need 3 rows and all that space. Any questions let me know - I just got it yesterday and there's only 24 miles on it - but I'll shake it out soon. Walt
  9. When you use TTAC as your source, do you think you are going to get 1. unbiased reporting about GM 2. anything worth anything?
  10. your brother in law doesn't live in Berkeley Heights does he? I have a friend that has a firebird that's been off the road forever and he keeps it in hopes to fix it up still. I've never seen it out of the garage without $h! all over it, but I thought it was blue.
  11. Most Canadians aren't brown - 'Muricans don't like brown people.
  12. When I said "low mileage" I meant in odometer ratings not fuel consumption. I would much rather have an Avalanche, but a 30,000 mile Envoy Denali is $7-10,000 cheaper than a similar mileage Avalanche. Don't really care about gas mileage - more so keeping the payments down.
  13. Or even if it sticks out the glass hatch - I could fit about 4 in the Blazer with the hatch open and the spare tire off. the old two door Blazer was wide enough for the plywood and I think the Envoys were wider than my old 94. Who knows...
  14. Roger, Thinking about picking up a used Envoy - only if it can fit a 4x8 sheet of plywood in the back with the tailgate closed or even sticking out through the glass hatch. Do you know if the Envoy can swallow that? Can you fit something 4 foot wide in the back? Or does anybody have a pic of an Envoy with lumber in the back? Maybe from a GM press pic? My 94 Blazer took me for a ride this morning on RT18 when the front breakline gave out and needed to get towed home. Thinking about getting rid of the Blazer and my 2006 Malibu MAXX SS for a used Envoy. Rather an Avalanche or Tahoe but can't really afford the price on a low mileage truck like the Envoy is. If the Envoy can do what I need it to around the house (like have room for plywood/sheetrock and other things then it could be a good match. Thanks for any help, Walt
  15. I use the clay bar (either Mother's or Maguiars) every spring. It works great to get the grit and bugs and winter's worth of grime off the cars. It's well worth the time it takes to clay bar the whole car.
  16. I know its kinda lame but I though it was cool that all 3 gens of the latest Malibu were stuck in order at a red light: 2009 LTZ (out front windshield to the left) 2006 MAXX SS (interior shot) ~2001 Malibu in rear view mirror Keeps me occupied until I can buy a real car (Camaro SS).

    cliffside!!!

I still can't figure how anyone can see the amount of crap we humans have spewed into the air and water over the past 200 years and not think is has any effect on speeding up the natural processes of the Earth. Humans aren't the only cause - we are just speeding some things up. - That is something that most scientists do believe.
  18. It's gonna take 30 years to try and undo the damage from the first decade of this century. "Activist Judges" are judges who think that corporations have the same rights as individuals and "activist judges" are the majority of the SCOTUS. Here's some statements from John Paul Stevens' minority decent: * Even more misguided is the notion that the Court must rewrite the law relating to campaign expenditures by for-profit corporations and unions to decide this case. * The conceit that corporations must be treated identically to natural persons in the political sphere is not only inaccurate but also inadequate to justify the Court’s disposition of this case. * Although they make enormous contributions to our society, corporations are not actually members of it. They cannot vote or run for office. Because they may be managed and controlled by nonresidents, their interests may conflict in fundamental respects with the interests of eligible voters. * The financial resources, legal structure, and instrumental orientation of corporations raise legitimate concerns about their role in the electoral process. Our lawmakers have a compelling constitutional basis, if not also a democratic duty, to take measures designed to guard against the potentially deleterious effects of corporate spending in local and national races. * The majority’s approach to corporate electioneering marks a dramatic break from our past. Congress hasplaced special limitations on campaign spending by corporations ever since the passage of the Tillman Act in 1907....We have unanimously concluded [in 1982] that this “reflects a permissible assessment of the dangers posed by those entities to the electoral process"...and have accepted the “legislative judgment that the special characteristics of the corporate structure require particularly careful regulation...The Court today rejects a century of history when it treats the distinction between corporate and individual campaignspending as an invidious novelty born [in a 1990 opinion]. * The Court’s ruling threatens to undermine the integrity of elected institutions across the Nation. The path it has taken to reach its outcome will, I fear, do damage to this institution.
  19. Someone stuck a Caddy emblem on a Mercury Milan. Headlight shapes have to change for the production. Does not look like a Caddy. Biggest let down of the show so far.
  20. This will have my vote for the ugliest production car from NAIAS. There is nothing, NOTHING attractive, fun, or interesting. Plus a 122 HP HYBRID that gets 36 city? FU Honda. If the Lemmings in the US eat this one up, hold on to your classic iron boys because it's over.
  21. I've changed batteries many times on GM key fobs from 1988 - 2008 and never had I had to reprogram. I know this sounds stupid (I did work at a PC helpdesk for 8 years) you have tried the battery in both + and - positions? The metal contact that the battery sits on is making contact with the battery? The only thing that I could think of is the battery is not making the required contact with the connectors... of that they sold you dead batteries.
  22. I'm a social libertarian, but not a libertarian on what the government should/can do for its people.
  23. Hey asshole - The Prius doesn't have a key - hence the reason this is a big deal. I need to find where this guy is a mechanic and never go there number one. Number 2 - If this was an article from a real journalist they would have known that fact and called this clueless asshole on his bull$h!. A Toyota executive could come to some peoples houses, kill their children, tell the parents that it was necessary for the good of Toyota, and the parents would hop in their Camry and say "Toyota is just doing what it needs to do."
  24. I was just at Perrine (the G6 had the same intermediate shaft problem as my other 2 Epsilon cars and needed it replaced under warranty) and saw those same two Terrains. Let me say - I hated these in the pictures and thought that the Equinox was much better looking. But after seeing them in person, I really liked them... maybe more than the 'Nox.
