  1. I like the original, angular headlights and smaller grille on my wife's LaCrosse better. This looks a lot like a Lucerne to me in the front. The interior needed to be repackaged. While I liked the current design and materials, it suffers from a complete lack of storage (two coffees and a cell phone? nope.) i hope this new design includes some extra cubbies for cell, ipod, etc.
  2. phew! for a second there I thought there might be something original and attractive from Hyundai, but their streak continues. My most hated brand in America (has pulled ahead of Toyota).
  3. Maybe I've grown too practical, or gotten some taste, but this, the LaFerrari, even the Alfa 4c with those horrific headlights are all awful. They are not graceful, beautiful, or interesting to look at. A mish-mosh of lines and fins and wings and garbage. No wonder I don't give a $h! about the auto industry anymore. I find with the more money you have, the less taste you have.
  4. Posting for my dad who picked this up today: Beautiful car - and the first non-GM for my dad since 1969
  5. Great article. Troegg's Nugget Nectar (only available for a limited time each spring) is one of my favorites. It's a beer that has to be "pre-ordered" because it goes so fast and is limited. Yards (in Philly) has become a new go-to of mine. Weyerbacher makes some good craft stuff - some high-alcohol sipping brews too... Yuengling is always good for a cheap quality beer (alternative to the 3 domestic evils). Toured the River Horse brewery (just over the Delaware River in Lambertville, NJ) has been doing some real quality stuff since changing owners a few years ago. Hop Hazard and Hop-a-lot-a-mus are great. Just tired their milk stout during the holidays and it too is very good. Brew pubs in the area are good too. I've hit all 3 Triumph Brew Pubs (New Hope and Philly, PA, and Princeton, NJ), Harvest Moon in New Brunswick, NJ can make some good brews and I believe my name is still on the wall at J.J. Bittings in Woodbridge, NJ.
  6. This will replace my Terrain. My only worry is that it will not be available when my lease runs out.
  7. Sadly Ford is becoming victim of the gaping hole grille too. I was watching TV and I thought it was a Hyundai commercial and it was a Ford - the Focus Hybrid (gaping maw) and the very Hyundai-like Escape is not winning me over on the Ford side. This thing is a Camry with a Sonata Hybrid hole in the front. Toyota and Hyundai - bringing the ugly to main st america
  8. Almost makes me want to buy a Fit - so I can add to Honda's negative cash flow...
  9. It's 4 grand more than my loaded (with V-6) SLT-2 (only missing AWD, the Nav and TV screens). 5 and half more with the V-6. Don't see the value for a diff grille, tailights and Denali script.
  10. These are all over the place in NJ. There are 2 black ones within a few blocks of my house. I can't turn the corner without getting my eyes raped by these horrific little things. Hyundai has supassed Toyota as my most despised car company with thier "multiple size, one melted deisgn" design language.
  11. The RL Polk article is bull$h!. They are playing with "non-luxury" here so they count the Nissan Maxima as a fullsize (190.6 long, 73.2 wide, 109 WB 96cu ft pass vol) but ignore the cheaper Buick LaCrosse (196.9 long, 73.1 wide 112 wb 102cu ft pass vol) which is bigger in every category except .1 inch in width. They are looking for a story where there is none. Yes there's no more Panther cars - we get it. Without their livery sales, the fullsize market has contracted.
  12. So can we suppose that the Camaro drops the SS in 2014 and goes with Z/28 - then the SS will just be a model and not a trim level? Camaro Z28, ZL1 Corvette Z06, ZR1
  13. And it's made by the same $h!ty company that created the monstrosity called the panoramic sunroof used by GM in the G6 and Aura. It was the noisiest and most horrific $2000 option in my 2006 G6 that the engineers had in the shop for over 1 month (and 3 tries) to fix it. Thankfully it was a lease. No need for this gimick for such a small opening. Wonder what the wind noise is like at 70mph.
  14. Roads are littered with this Hyundai crap that all looks the same. Thankfully they are dumping another clone, just a little bigger. Yay. And along with the Nissan Juke, the Veloster is one of the few cars that is uglier in person than in pictures. And you wonder why I am not involved much with cars anymore....
  15. He won't have it on the tester because it has the Nav. The nav screen deletes that. The one on my 2011 (I didn't opt for the nav) is nice and smooth. Much like the console door. It doesn't ratchet.
  16. Blu - ask your aunt and uncle how many American tax payer dollars has been handed over to Subaru for their assembly plant in Indiana. They are subsidizing them. (The factory was given $98 million in state and local tax incentives when it opened in 1988, and these remain in place.)
  17. I am averaging about 20 mpg with the 3.0 - good mix of around town and highway. It gets better gas millage than the 3900 in my Malibu. Cruising at 70 mph it shows an instant mpg in the 30's. I find the ride quite nice. Gotten used to the 3.0 and the 6 speed. Would rather have the 3.6 (the LaCrosse can move quite well) in the beginning the trans would hunt and peck, but once I got used to the 6 speed I can keep it under control. I just hit my 1 year with the 2011 Terrain SLT2 FWD and no problems and no real complaints. I still love the interior, still love the looks. No problems and never gone back to the dealer for anything. It's the most trouble-free GM car I've owned so far. Here's my responses DFelt after a year of ownership: How is the fit and finish, has it gotten better? - No complaints at all - one of the best interiors I've seen in this class of truck. How is the road noise? - Relatively low for an SUV. No wistling or rushing wind noise at high speed even with the roof rack cross rails. Could you see yourself taking this on a long road trip, 1500 to 2000 miles and not feel worn out at the end of a long 10hr drive day? - Yes- though the longest I've probably been in it is around 2 1/2 hours. I find it comfortable and this comes from someone who much rather be closer to the ground in a Camaro. For me I never thought there were blind spots, do you feel this vehicle has any large blind spots? - Not that effects me. It has the standard (for all Terrains) back up camera that has the screen in the rear view mirror, so it makes backing up super easy. Does it have remote start? - SLT2s do. Not sure of the lowest level, but I think so. Layout of the buttons, does it make sense or is it a jumbled mess? - I love the dash. Everything is good - the radio buttons are a reach, but everything is duplicated on the steering wheel. My main complaint for 2011 (and not sure if it is fixed for 2012) is that you cannot Bluetooth streaming audio to the radio - I have to use a physical jack (that's all I listen to is Slacker off my phone). Not terrible, but I assumed when I bought it, it would work. Does the cruise control work smoothly or does it speed up and slow down? - Just used it on Tuesday and of all the times I have used it I have noticed no jerky acceleration. Smooth. Does this v6 seem to be thrashy at times when you step on it? - It could use more power. It took me some time to get used to the 6 speed and the lower-torque 3.0, but for regular driving once you get the feel of it, I am happy with it. It can get loud when you've got it pinned to pull out on the highway, but it gets out of its own way and gets you up to speed quickly. No complaints- but I will always want to see more power. The 3.6 would make this thing a rocket.
  18. Much like every new Audi - I really couldn't care less (nor even notice) a Porsche reskin. (And don't get me wrong - I like some Audis, but their lack of styling updates/differential between models in getting bad)
  19. The interior needs a full gutting. When I test drove the Terrain, I took an Acadia out too. While I liked the 3.6 and the size (plus with the extra deals it was in the price range) the interior was a deal breaker. It still has what I call GM 1.5 interior - better than GM 1.0 early 2000s, but no where close to GM 2.0 like the Terrain/LaCrosse has. Even if the outside isn't all that much different, if the interior gets the GM 2.0 upgrade, it will be well worth it.
  20. Has the HHR died a silent death? I don't remember seeing notice that it was canceled, but it no longer is on Chevy's site and only shows 23 sales. Maybe I missed the obit. No loss to the 2012 lineup, though a small CUV-type replacement would be good - but I guess GMC is getting that.
  21. So tired of this design language. But the sheeps are eating it up. I honestly can't tell a Sonata from a Elantra from an Accent sedan - and now this. I think I saw an Equs the other day, but it could have just been a Genesis with lounge chairs...
  22. Here's a post that you can share around if you know of anyone interested. Price is up in the air a negotiable - http://avant1963.tumblr.com/post/9667607386/1963-studebaker-avanti-r-1-for-sale
