  1. If you go with a G6 stay away from: Electric Steering Panoramic Sunroof Other than those two areas, the 2 G6's we've owned have been good. The 2008 is a year and a half old and not one problem. Not even a little one.
  2. Just thought it was funny - Gotta sell Aveos somehow: http://www.geekologie.com/2009/08/sweet_co...umblebee_tr.php
  3. Congrats. How was Malouf to deal with? Once Laffin's closed I decided to use their service department (Oasis Chevy has more nightmare stories than I wanted to deal with even though it is closer for me). They treated me well in service and the one service advisor Chris is from Laffins. Just curious on how the whole experience was there since if in a year or so I go for a Camaro, they are my first choice for a dealership. Good luck with it.
  4. Whoever has the 1 Luxo Blue ZR1 has a rare bird... http://corvetteactioncenter.com/specs/c6/2...production.html
  5. Yeah... in 2000 I started and ran it, but since 2005/06 you guys have been running it. Drew has been integral in keeping the site afloat both monetary and emotionally (and the dedicated unpaid admin staff. I really lost any interest in day to day work on the site back then. In the past year I had gotten offers to buy the site from groups that were not closely involved with it. I would not sell the site from under the group 1. to someone outside the group 2. to someone who wasn't interested in keeping the core of the site the same. Drew has some great ideas and with the transfer of the domain to him, it frees him up to make those changes without feeling he is stepping on my toes. I'll still be around to watch how it grows. It was a fun ride to get the site to where it was and is now, just my priorities changed. You're in good hands. Good luck.
  6. You also have to add a "Sport" model. What is turning me off right now and has me in no hurry to replace the wife's G6 GT Street Edition is that Chevy doesn't offer any kind of appearance upgrade. Yeah there's the LTZ, but that's a chrome grill and two extra round marks on the taillights. Where's my deep front spoiler, blacked out trim, aggressive rims/tires, rear spoiler, side skirts. I won't buy the Malibu that looks like everyone else's. The G6, even in base trim, looked 100% more aggressive than then Malibu. The only reason I bought my Mailbu MAXX SS was color, MAXX hatchback, and a performance upgrade. Otherwise I would have never went that way, even as an interim car to get me between Camaros. Chevy is going to lose me if they don't step in where Pontiac filled the niche.
  7. I rag on the G6 a lot since it was the worst GM car mechanically (most of that due to the panoramic roof), but knock on wood my wife's second G6 GT (2008) has been perfect for over a year and a half. My wife loved the car (even though she had to drive a Buick Century for 4 weeks when they were trying to fix the roof) which is why we went for another one. I said as long as it has a normal sunroof (by 2008 the panoramic roof was discontinued because it was such a problem) and that it did not have the electric power steering (by 2008, all GTs also had hydraulic steering). At least GM learned. And I haven't had to take the G6 back for anything since I bought it. And Roger, the G6 looks great.
  8. Finally got a new set of stainless pipes and mufflers last week (along side the two old tailpipes in this pic) Test fitting: The correct chrome tips came on Monday. Replaces the "turkey-gun" ones that were on the old busted pipes. This car was hobbled together before I bought it. Four exhaust hangers three completely different styles. Of course I bought all new hangers that match. The Avanti uses the "X" frame from the Studebaker Lark convertible to give the fiberglass car more rigidity. The added bonus is the X frame in the middle that the exhaust has to slide in and out of twice on each side. It makes this exhaust a difficult one
  9. My pleco died a few days ago. Tank perfect, other fish happy. My last pleco lived over 5 years. Odd.
  10. With all those opening doors and flopping bodies, all it needs is the "Yakkety Sax" music in the background (music used in Benny Hill fast-motion hilarity).
  11. I've had an: RS - (1967 Camaro) IROC-Z - (1988 Camaro) Z-28 - (1996 Camaro) And two SS's 1987 MC SS Aerocoupe 2006 Malibu MAXX SS (weak I know, but it says SS on the door - so you know it's fast )
  12. There is a lot of money in Pontiac Heritage, just on the T-shirts and Die-casts alone. You want to sell that? Keeping the Pontiac name (just like Oldsmobile) is the smartest thing GM has done in the past 2 years. How much money is in the S-Series die-casts? Lots of people displaying them on their shelves, huh? Did they ever even make one?
  13. The quote that CaptainBooyah pointed out, if true, is the final nail for me. If there is no chance of getting a small, fun RWD coupe/convertible (Alpha) or a full-size Chevelle/Impala replacement (Zeta), and the Camaro will always be in the crosshairs because it doesn't fit with Chevy's new FWD/4-banger philosophy, then Chevy is a dead brand also. Chevy already said their would be no "sport" or "SS" packages on any of the more pedestrian models.
  14. One of my favorite cars from the 90s. Black only.
  15. This morning The Wall Street Journal, that Conservative bastion of "kill the American working class" pushed a headline of "Most Dependable Vehicles: Lexus, Buick, Jaguar." They could not accept that Lexus was not on top, and made sure that their headline kept Lexus as number one. When I searched for that headline to put here, I noticed that they changed it to "Buick, Jaguar, Lexus." But check the comments on this page or all the people complaining - the only reason that WSJ would bother changing their Toyota headline. http://blogs.wsj.com/wallet/2009/03/19/mos...r/tab/comments/ I know - I see media bias where there is none, right? When you write an article where the biggest news is that Lexus is not number one after 15 years, the headline puts Lexus in front. Not intentional right? WSJ - brought to you by the same journalistic integrity of Fox-Opinion and the NY Post.
  16. I saw a truckload of the under-bite new RXs a few days ago. They were worse in person than in awful pictures. Buy them up America!
  17. This thread as run amok as if I said I was never buying GM ever again. It was more of frustration for the multiple times my 2006 Malibu has been back to the shop (Broken rear sunscreen, warped interior a-pillar cover, kinked ac drain which caused all condensation water to drain into the passenger-side floor, steering clunks, and finally with 4 months left of warranty, replaced the radiator) plus replacing the front brakes and rotors myself at 10,000 miles because they were warping and squealling. I just felt like a schmuck when after 5 days of ownership my friend calls me from the dealership with a limping Malibu. I'm not recommending any cars to anyone again, GM, Ford or other. I still lust for a Camaro SS and a G8 GXP, and hopefully GM will be around to supply them when I am ready.
  18. 4 banger/6 speed They replaced the computer. He said they called GM, and that was were they think the problem came from. We'll see if it happens again. No matter what, my confidence has been shaken.
  19. Seeing that it's whatever gas the dealer put in, have no idea. The car isn't a week old yet. He's going to call me when they finally make a decision what is wrong. So far it is either a throttle body or a main computer or both.
  20. Short story. Friend needs a new car. Wife wants Nissan. He wants GM. I recommend a 2009 Malibu. 100 miles and Malibu is dieing. Goes into Limp-home mode on the NJ Parkway. Dealership not too sure what happened or what's wrong. Sorry GM. I can't recommend your vehicles any more. My 2006 G6 was the worst car I ever owned and my 2006 Malibu just had the radiator replaced for a leak at 24,000 miles. That on top of the 4 other times I needed to go to the dealership with the Malibu. The 2009 Malibu is supposed to be the new GM, and chances are my friend got the one lemon in 10,000, but I still feel like an ass for recommending it. Hate to see you go, but have fun in bankruptcy.

  22. I love any show that makes people interested in science and reason. Adam Savage is a great voice for skepticism and science. My favorite is the moon landing myths. After that show, no one should be questioning if that was real or not.
  23. That's the only thing that went wrong in this interview. The $70 statement was a softball for the mayor to hit out of the park, but he was so "guns a-blazin'" that he missed the opportunity to get some real "news" out there. Though real news does not exist on Fox Opinion.
  24. My 06 just started leaking... but it is coming from passenger-side lower radiator. I was unable to find the leak (too much $h! crammed into the front end of the car even after taking out the headlight and all the plastic underbody pieces I could, I still couldn't get a good look. Since my local Chevy dealer closed this month, I have been hesitant to go somewhere else, but I have to soon since my warranty runs out in June.
  25. It looks like an "N" and a NIKE swoosh...
