One gets ethyl spilled all over its rear quarter
Sixty8panther replied to Sixty8panther's topic in Automotive Trivia
Ha-ha! I honestly could not ever think of another incorrect answer that's as close as this one to the true, correct one. You're SOOO close it's ridiculous. This right there should give away the true answer. -
So as some of you now know, and most probably do not, I have moved recently. I now live right at the intersection of Rt.3 & I-495 just outside of Lowell Mass. It's been a nerve wracking experience and I'm glad it's over. Now Sofia has more room to play and a much nicer back yard and the Super 88 & Datsun have semi- indoor storage. The Super will soon enough be sleeping in a barn when not driven. The only bad news is that we're renting again and didn't buy a house, but all good things come to those who wait. Now on with the show: I went to a car show again today with the Super 88. Kimbal's Ice Cream & Miniature Golf in Westford, MA. Just a few minutes away from me. It's a great show & there was somewhere around 300 cars there... well 250 minimum. There's two lawns: one for parking and one for "Show Cars" it's up to the public's discretion to pick the appropriate one. This is usually not a problem but there's always a few jackasses who are too lazy to walk and park a non-show car on the lawn with the show cars. There was a Saturn Sky there for instance with 1500 miles on it. That's okay since it's a rare car that just came out, and it's a sports car of low production volume. Same for an SSR or 911 Targa. It was actually the first Sky I have ever seen standing still outside of a dealership. It was very nice. On the other hand there was three blatant violations of the "show car" rule. And guess what? All three were TOYOTAS! As soon as I parked my Super 88 I got out and admired the '68 Camaro SS & '57 Corvette I was parked between. Then I notice a few rows over there's a 100% stock yellow Toyota Matrix. WTF right? It gets better. Several rows over there later turned up a brand new 100% stock blue 06 Corolla. Mind you it's parked amongst vehicles like '66 Corvette Sting Ray Roadsters, '44 Willys Military GPs and '55 Pontiac Starchief convertibles. And now the icing on the proverbial cake. Parked between a C5 ragtop with a custom hood, paint job, rims and Z06 motor transplant and a riced out SRT-4 Neon is a Camry. 100% stock Camry LE. Tan exterior. Tan interior. Same ugly f@%$#ng wheel covers it left the factory with. 2002-06 vintage. Yes... a silver-brown metallic Camry. I walked back to the Super 88... (Sofia still in my arms) took a paper wrapper from a 6 pack of Jewel Tipparillos and wrote in block letters: WHAT THE HELL POSSESEED YOU TO PARK YOU CAR HERE? IF I WANTED TO SEE A BEIGE 2006 CAMRY WITH STOCK HUBCAPS I'D GO TO ANY PARKING LOT/GAS STATION IN THE GREAT US-OF-A AND THERE'S SURE TO BE ABOUT A DOZEN OF THESE UGLY NEW TOYOTAS, ESP. CAMRYS! When I pulled out of the car show at 8:00pm tonight, the sun dipping below the trees and Sofia resting in her tired head in the car seat, that note was below the windshield wiper of that gross Toyota pile of $hit. What a blatant sign of disrespect: to park the car that is regarded by 99% of the population to be the most boring and unexciting vehicle ever made in a row of cars like a '58 Fuelie Corvette & a flat black '49 Ford rat rod. [end-of-rant]

Hemi only? Their loss sales wise. But I'll be they'll sell well anyway. It's a high money car and people will assume it will be an instant classic, which will probably be true to some degree. Like, for example, the C-pillar. That thing is as thick as a $h!house brick and would serve as a massive blind spot. 178655[/snapback] Better a thivk C-pillar but NO B-pillar. The rear side window has to be small enough to dissapear into the rear 1/4 panel on the car... and the hardtop bodystyle is crucial to the car's design language IMO. Even Mustangs & 1st gen. F-bodys has thick C-pillars. It's all good.

Todays's hard-core Jihad obsessed Arabs share little wiht the scholars and mathematicians that are being mentioned here. Yes... the Arabs gave us the concept fo the ZERO wich was a quantum leap in thinking at the time. Without the concept of zero modern math, physics, science, engineering etc. would not be possioble. They also mapped the stars to an incredible degree.

Wow... the great news just keeps on pouring in. There's already been a few excellent Firebird chops done on this board and a few others. The Firebirds I really liked were the ones with 2nd gen. styling hints.

I saw this hot chick today at a carshow... she was checking out a 1970.5 Trans Am and when she bent over to look at the shaker hood scoop I thought to myslef: I'd love to stick my balance shaft in her intake.

Front Drive Mafia of C&G - Official Thread
Sixty8panther replied to Cory Wolfe's topic in The Lounge
Wait... I don't get it. Is this for people who are PROUD of owning a FWD car? Oh, wait. I gottcha. This is like C&G's version of the special olympics, everyone gets a prize. How cute. -
Wow... very cool, I missed that too.

I never doubted for a second... but it's very nice to know it's official. The Camaro concept is more "lower-longer-wider" than almost any modern GM car (except for the Corvette) that I can think of.

Replace "wrote" with drawing & legos and you've got my childhood. I was not thrilled at being an only child, that's why I do not want Sofia to be one either.

If you think the Camaro looks like the Mustang you need to go get your eyes checked dude. If you mean the Camaro is more retro than you would have liked, be glad I was not designing it becuase I'd have left the more retro big headlights & speed lines down the side on it as well. Retro kicks ass when done up in a good fashion, and the Camaro conceot is said by most to be one fo the best & cleanest examples of retro.

Wow... by favorite do you mean "funniest"?

If you cut off a Prius and jam on your brakes...
Sixty8panther replied to Flybrian's topic in The Lounge
Recently... might have been on the way to pick up my Super 88 SpeedingPenguin & I were driving along on Rt.2 and I flipped off a Prius Driver, he looked like a snide, condescending jackhole & I was feeling fiesty. That Prius with the Vermont plates and the paper mache tree on top probably gets about 11mpg since it's drag coefficient went from 0.28 to 1.74 after that retarded "tree" was glued to its roof. ...but it's registered and insured by his mom. -
As well as every Audi, Mercedes & VW made in the past 8 years.

I've spent enough at Exoticar to have paid for the front clip on the owner's Ferrari F50 and or his Aston Martin DB9s recent tune up. Their warehouse is awsome, it used to be in Framingham then it moved to Avon and now it's been moved AGAIN. I've bought many $70 models from them in their "damaged sale" and fixed up a few things to make thme mostly mint $20 models that look like I spent $70.

What a beauty, love it! The original GTO was based off the Tempest... it was a grocery-getter car with a big 389 under the hood. That's waht made it the first true muscle car and the first factory sleeper in that vein.

This thing looks like an Echo XL.

This country is begining to suck a little bit more every few days. Here in New England we get F*&$ed on insurance, F*@#ed on registration/excise/tolls and now we get F#$%ed on gas too. There's always Canada or Australia though.

Sofia's been playing with her yellow H2 for a week now. (xcept daddy ate half her frog fries)

You wouldn't want to be inside the Geo if an Exploder ever hits you though... I'd rather deal with high gas prices by driving my Q45 at 69mph rather than 83.

My teeth suck, my DNA gives me poor enamel & I hate dentists. 'nough said.

Yeah... sorry to be a stick in the mud but IMHO any GM car from the same era azs the Gran Torino is better looking than the G.T. Only the Mustang II is uglier. It's not just the bumpers it's also the side... the G. Torino looks like it's a beached whale with a harpoon slice in its side. Gross. Not to mention those nasty, tacked on rear lights & cheesy headlight buckets. Even though it was the star car of Starsky & Hutch it has no place in this quiz. I do not eevr associate 68 Camaros, 72 Cudas & 70 CHevelles with those ugly piles of $#it. If they were going to throw in a FoMoCo product or two then make it a Shelby GT500KR & a Mercury Cougar.
