Mercedez Benz News Why Hello Mercedes-Benz SL *UPDATED*

Recommended Posts

Automakers are having a tough time trying to keep their new cars under wraps till the day they're ready to announce. Such is the case of Mercedes-Benz which had their latest SL leak onto the internet.

The pictures are suspected to be from a brochure and show the SL from the front and rear, along with the top up and down. The overall shape comes from the SLS AMG supercar and SLK roadster. We also see a shot of the interior as well, decked out in various shades of black and white.

We know the next SL will lose a bit of weight thanks to the extensive use of aluminum in the body. No one knows what will lie under the hood of the SL, but expect a V8 and V12.

UPDATE: Earlier Today, German Car Forum unleashed a massive stash of official SL pictures. Gallery has been update with the new pictures.

Nose is getting as bulky & long as most FWD generica. Proboscis monkey huge.

From that tiny image, the interior (except the seats) looks quite 1990.

mercedees no longer has any direction stylistically, but that's been evident for some time.

Hope there's a V6 and a diesel and a turbo 4 option! Otherwise, don't bother!

Also wonder when mercedees will build a FWD A-class-platform version.... :D

As always the haters are jealous. I think it is a nice evolution of the current car, and it incorporates the SLK, SLS, and CLS styling cues into it. They need to make it more affordable if they want more sales volume. But the Lexus SC and Cadillac XLR are dead, the SL is pretty much stands alone in the roadster class.

I'd take a Jaguar XK over the Mercedes any day of the week though. The Jaguar could have an engine from a canal boat and it wouldn't matter, on looks alone it wins.

Don't like the long front overhang. It doesn't have those classic RWD proportions. That alone turns me off from it.

The nose is quite bulky and upright, which is no doubt to meat European pedestrian safety standards.

I like the interior, although it looks like other Mercedes coupes.

Not feeling it overall.

I like it! The headlight shape is a little awkward at first glance, but nothing I couldn't get used to (because face it, we're probably going to be stuck with this generation for another decade).

The rest of it is HOT though. Make an AMG BLack Series out of THIS!
