Bentley News: Rumorpile: Bentley Considers A Four-Door Coupe

Car Magazine is reporting that Bentley is planning a four-door coupe arriving in 2018. The four-door coupe will take on the likes of the BMW M6 Gran Coupe and Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG. Sitting beneath the Continental GT, the four-door coupe will take the place of Bentley's entry-level model.

The new model will use Porsche's upcoming MSB platform that will make its debut in the next-generation Panamara. Bentley chose the MSB platform since it could work for the next-generation of the Mulsanne, Continental, and the four-door coupe. MSB also offers significant weight savings. For example, the next-generation Continental GT could lose close to 992 pounds.

The four-door coupe will likely utilize V6 and diesel engines, and have a pricetag around €125,000 to €150,000 ($168,650 to $202,380).

couple more years and there will be a FWD Bentley "3-series competitor" on the VW MBQ platform with a starting price of $29,995

Automakers need to stop the insanity of 4-door coupes. Most don't even look like coupes anymore.

Maybe even a VW Up! based city car, ala the Aston Martin Cygnet.. :) The possibilities in the brand expansion arms race are endless...

Over at Rolls Royce, maybe a Mini-based city car eventually?

Output is expected to be 850 horsepower and 800 pound-feet. Corvette Zora: The powerhouse of the C8, it will take the Twin-Turbo LT7 and augment with a hybrid system. This is expected to produce 1,000 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque. Hagerty's report says the rollout of the new engines will begin in 2022 with the LT6, but the COVID-19 outbreak may push the plans back.

      According to the Rumorpile, Toyota is working on bringing back the Venza, a car that went out of production after 2015. The original Venza did not sell very well, partially due to its wagon-like shape and also relatively high pricing.  It also lacked any off-road pretense that typically comes with a crossover.
      The problem for Toyota is that there is a large Venza sized gap in their SUV lineup between the RAV-4 and Highlander. This time around, the Venza would ditch the wagon looks and instead be a true crossover along the lines of the Chevrolet Trailblazer, Honda Passport, and Ford Edge. There is a possibility that the Venza would come in only hybrid form using the same 2.5-liter setup with rear electric motor that the Highlander uses. 
      If the rumors prove true, you could see a new Venza hit the auto show circuit as early as 2021.

      It's not possible to message you.  At least, it wasn't possible to do that last summer.  So I'll post it here.  I had a crazy layover back in June at PHL ... for about 8 hours ... and wondered how far into NJ you were from Philly.  What I did is get the PHLash day pass and did the self-guided tour of Center City before heading back to the airport.  I stayed too close to the center because of time. I actually wasted time by going into South Philly.  I wanted to venture out onto the Main Line and see Villanova.  That rail line was included on the pass I bought.  I had to manage my time because of the late afternoon flight to the Coast.  Cheers.
