  1. Hey, a VW I would actually consider! It's a better take of the Ridgeline while combining it the flexibility of the Avalanche (which I also liked). For urban dwellers or folks who just don't need a "full on" pickup, this is a nice option IMO. And I'm with you @Frisky Dingo. Get it out there and lets see if it floats (sales wise of course).

  2. Yeah, VW does seem good at putting out concepts then taking forever to follow up with production vehicles..they have been showing microbus/kombi revival concepts for at least 20 years and nothing has come of them.

  3. This is great, but they need to shut up and put up already. The Tanoak is probably a little risky for the market. This would be free enough from competition it would own it's niche segment. But they have to be quick about it! VW has a HUGE problem with not striking while the iron is hot. If good ideas aren't capitalized on soon enough, they don't stay good ideas.

  4. Oh, this thing will definitely be a smash hit. I think it looks great, and I'm thrilled to see they did a traditional, upright 2-box design.

  5. Well, size matters. Sized right, I think this thing will sell like hotcakes.

  6. Rated for 24/34. Got 23.5/38.5 https://www.motortrend.com/cars/cadillac/ct6/2019/2019-cadillac-ct6-20-first-test-review/ The Malibu's engine doesn't shut down to 2 cylinders during highway cruise.... the CT6 does.

  7. Building to a price point no doubt resulted in cheapening of materials.

  8. I thought the same.... and so does the one from last year.

  9. Let me just say this. While I am still not a fan of the profile (especially the rear quarter of it), kudos to Cadillac on the improved interior. Love the two tone option and the overall design (outside of the floating tablet nonsense that I don’t like fro anyone these days). Maybe the exterior will show better in person. Here’s hoping for some sales success that defied the current CTS (which I am a general fan off overall).

  10. So SMK claims the Stinger is priced way too high over a FWD Optima while Mercedes does this. The A Class starts at more than $32K while the C Class is almost $10K more. We will sidestep the fact that $32K gets you a whopping 188HP in the “entry luxury” car.

  12. Awesome news. 10 inch 1080 screen. NFC.. AND FINALLY.. forced induction only engine line-up! 335HP/400ft-lb of torque is a welcome mid level engine. Same HP as the 540i, but a whopping 68ft-lb torque advantage. I'm betting a much lighter overall car too. Comparable in every way to the 5Series, this new car has a 116 inch-long wheelbase(5series 117.1), has a length of 193.8 inches(5series 194.6) and a width of 74.1 inches(5series 73.5). Yes.. the Caddy is wider. Interior looks great.. except that damn non-leather steering wheel hub on lower models

  13. Stop moving the bar. That was not your initial gripe. You complained about the price being too high when compared to a compact luxury car and now you are splitting hairs over the interior when it looks just fine for its price/performance range. Shall we bring up the relative cheapness of entry model German cars and their faux leather, for example? And did you really type that? A Camry? A FWD non-sporty sedan against a RWD/AWD grand tourer? You have to be kidding me. Hey, while we are at it, let’s compare a $35K loaded Camry against a $53K 303 HP (35 HP less than a lower priced and loaded Stinger) Mercedes Benz E300? That’s how apples to oranges your comparisons are.

  14. Volkswagen is introducing a concept that will see production for South America, but they brought the concept to New York to show it off alongside the Volkswagen Atlas Basecamp Concept The Volkswagen Tarok is built on VW's MQB modular platform and along with the VW Atlas, is one of the largest MQB vehicles to date at 193.5 inches long. The Tarok features a Chevy Avalanche like bed with a mid-gate that allows the rear seats to be folded forward allowing cargo as long as 73.2 inches. The mechanism uses an electronic lock and sealing system to keep moisture out of the cabin. The Tarok Concept is powered by a 1.4-liter, 147-horsepower four-cylinder turbocharged and direct-injection TSI engine, mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission and permanent 4Motion all-wheel drive. Volkswagen showed another truck concept at last year's NY Auto Show, the Atlas Tanoak Concept. VW says that while there are no plans for US production, the Tanok is being used to gauge US reaction to a pickup from Volkswagen. View full article

  15. Nissan is celebrating 50 years of performance credentials with the 2020 Nissan 370Z 50th Anniversary Special Edition. While it is mostly a sticker and paint package, it will be available on the Base, Sport, Sport Touring, and NISMO models, so customers can pick their own level of performance. It will come with special 19 inch alloy wheels with red accents. Inside is a Special Edition Alcantara wrapped steering wheel, leather and suede seats, with unique graphics and stitching, and suede door panel inserts. The rest of the 370Z carries over and with it, the history of Nissan performance. We will have more pictures and updates from the New York International Auto Show on April 17th. View full article

  18. I think the interesting thing is the no lease buyouts. If Tesla really does have the most loyal customer base next to Porsche, then that forces their customers into a new lease every 3 years. It's Brilliant!

  19. ATS-V, CTS V-Sport, XTS V-Sport, CT6 3.0TT, CT6 V-Sport, CT6-V, Escalade I don't think it's a matter of "balls"... I think it's a matter of business case. Will they sell enough of them to make money on it... I think they think the answer is "No"... at least on the crossovers.

  22. So... U see why I've gotten a bad rep around here now? Craziness people come up with to complain about. I wouldn't buy the 2.0L. but I enjoy the fact that they at least offer the choice. I see why they downgraded in power too. Even from a marketing standpoint it made very little sense to go and buy a 3.6L with 321HP/275ft-ib before when the 2.0L was 272HP/260ft-lb.. . NOW.. look at the distance. Perfect. And I see a VSport being in the 470-500 range with a VSeries in the 600s. AWD at that.

  23. I'd assume CT4 will be in a similar price range as the ATS, the CT5 similar to the CTS...

  24. It's not just that. They simply don't feel as well built, as nice materials. Not what I expect with a Merc badge. They feel like what they are... economy Euro cars with a fancy badge. You'd be just as well getting a Jetta. It even comes with the big screen cockpit display if you want.

  27. I have to say I love it! This is one of the best I have seen from VW as I like the dash flow and the exterior. I really think GM messed up on not continuing the Avalanche pickup that Cadillac also sold in luxury form. I bet the Profits on every Escalade EXT was crazy high. GM needs to bring this back I think! Would love it in an EV format as the ultimate city / suburban auto for Home Depot duties and family fun. VW, make it and I truly think you will see the sales!

  30. It is exactly the same exterior length as the e-class... 193.8 inches and has a 1 inch longer wheelbase.

  31. Wonder if you could make this an EV with battery pack that would give it 300 miles on a charge? ? Would be a kick to the nuts of Tesla if they did it!

  32. Sharp...the regular Atlas is a good looking CUV, this would be a nice enhancement.

  33. So again, it is a vehicle with options you cannot get for cheaper. I'm not sure where the argument is coming from. Why would somebody be cross shopping mustang and camaros with a 4 door sedan? Not to say it never happens but I would think most that are looking at one is not in the market for the other. Also, Mustang and Camaro are down on sales...maybe it is stealing them.. ?
    1 point
  34. Your gripe is severely misplaced, is my point here as you keep comparing it to completely non related cars which now includes the Camaro and Mustang. Even your Optima comparison is off base because the 2.0 motor is the thing they have in common. Seriously, I just don’t even see how you can make these arguments about it being overpriced while being a fan of a company known for overpriced cars. Just stop the nonsense already. I would dare say that part of its issue is due to brand snobs like yourself. And for the love of all that’s holy, stop with the apples oranges comparisons.

  35. There are a lot of vehicles that come with factory tinted rear windows. I would assume that'd be available here as well.. maybe not? My Escape and Lincoln both came with factory tint behind the driver's row. I can't believe that's a Ford thing. Don't the GM large SUVs and trucks some with tint on the rear windows in higher trims as well? While 13.7 isn't huge, 3+ cubic feet more is a good amount difference.

  36. I get the impression that it will be limited production so they don't get spanked if they only sold 100 of them.
    1 point
  37. Lucky me, PNW does not have inspections so unless your doing something really stupid for the cop to pull you over, tinting is not an issue here. Though I think with the amount of State police cars with limo black tint, that the whole tint thing should just be dropped. I also have come to think that inspections are good as too many dangerous auto's on the road. Amazing how many people buy and auto and let it fall into disrepair.

  38. yeah. I need something sooner than this will be available. Plus, I don't want to buy new. Current thoughts are to replace the Cruze with a Canyon and replace the Encore with a 300S.

  40. Honestly, I would still just rather have an older model for the V8 noises in a car like this. The sound they make is a whole part of the experience, imo.
    1 point
  41. And still none of those offer AWD or hatchback space in those trims you pointed out. Now arguing a Scat Pack(485hp) Charger starts at 41k is another story. I would definitely argue that is a fantastic value at 41k vs the Stinger GT at 39k.

  42. To be fair 2010 Mustang GT had 315hp and 325 lb-ft, weighted about 3500-3600lbs This one will have 330 hp and 350 lb-ft and probably will weight around the same. As I said I would rather have the V8 as well but this new turbo-four will smoke a V8 from less than a ten years ago in a straight and most definitely on a track.

  43. ^ I don't think that last statement is accurate, but 'truly wealthy' would need definition. I have a number of clients I would put into that basket, and tho there is no 'automatic' vehicle class choice tethered to wealth, my observation is that it skews heavily toward 'luxury brands' (mostly BMW tho).
