One day, once Lithium Ion batteries are replaced with much better ones, the question will be, "Who wants a ICE car when a BEV is so much better and more convenient?"2 points

Not sure the styling is an improvement over the current model. I don't think I'd choose it over the 2020 Explorer if I wanted a 3 row midsize crossover.2 points

As solid state batteries that DO NOT need cobalt become the new norm with denser storage and power and liter we will then see this become an even bigger change.2 points

The real issue here is that Coal cannot compete, so this IFO study is really Big Coal's way of saying, "Turn back the clock to 1980". Batteries are fairly efficient now; just wait unit Lithium-Ion is replaced by a much better battery type. What will Big Coal say when it is far cheaper to power everything electrically via renewables? Eventually (I hope sooner than later) all of transport will no longer need oil or natural gas. Coal is already too expensive for power generation as it is because of natural gas and renewable energy sources.2 points

I get my gasoline from the renewable gas stations. No worries here.2 points

Sorry the late reply but this is a reflection of a similar criticism you made on the Vette article. Let me just say this again. Please stop comparing larger cars (The Stinger) to smaller cars (3 Series and C Class). It simply isn’t even close to a comparable situation. And given that. C Class is smaller in every department in terms of front seat room, I’m guessing it feels really cramped since you seem to think a Stinger is cramped.2 points

Well, it's directly on Cadillac's website. I think we all have said their marketing team has been junk at GM for awhile now. A long while.2 points

While the CT5 does not carry the presence of the CT6 and I will attribute this to the over kill use of the Coupe design plus shaving here and there, the bigger reason is public perception of cars which is dying as folks move to trucks and SUV/CUVs in replacement of cars. Honestly, Cadillac could kill off a CT4, no need, just keep the CT5 and CT6 and upgrade the interiors and keep it best in class. Luxury does not need anything below the CT5 / low $30K to $20 K line when you have Buick and Cheverolet. Focus on world class with best ATP's. Then pour the rest of the money into the CUV / SUV lineup and focus on EVs.2 points

The Great Homogenization of Auto Design continues. This looks like, nothing. And everything.1 point

@Drew Dowdell Thank you for posting those. They are nice. The last time I looked at the pixel almost 2yrs ago, it was not as good as the samsung then to my eyes, so I went with the samsung. Will have to take another look when I get ready to upgrade phones again.1 point

THAT said... the real issue isn't cars these days anyway, it is shipping. Rail, Air, Ship, Truck are all bigger emitters of CO2 than cars. Rail and Truck have started cleaning up their act. I don't know about Air. Ships are way way behind.1 point

Edit for the first 10 minutes after posting. If you're a premium subscriber $1.75 a month or $15 a year, that restriction gets removed and so do almost all of the ads. Plus.. it helps the site out a little bit with the cost of running the place.1 point

I've never heard of such strict advertising rules.... so do I need a VIN for the Reeses cups they want me to buy?1 point

24/34 mpg rating for the CT6 with the same powertrain. So that or better. But no, it's not officially released yet.1 point

The study based its findings on power by coal in a country that is rapidly moving to clean energy sources. Renewable energy use is now very slightly higher than coal use in Germany as of last year. There are days in the summertime when Germany generates ALL of its power from renewable energy. Even here in the U.S. where coal is still dominant, in most states, one who drives a Tesla can select clean power for their home (as I have, I get my energy from a wind farm). TL:DR - the study is flawed F.U.D.1 point

But no mention of MPG, marketing people say a heavy duty truck has an “efficient” V8.1 point

I have a feeling we will only see EVs from GM on purpose-built EV platforms, not legacy platforms.1 point

This is Mary Barra's GM. I doubt the CT5 will start much lower than $39,995. The CT5 competes with the E Class and the 5 Series, so pricing will matter but Cadillac does not quite have the brand equity of the E and the 5 to price above those two. Now a Lexus GS should be the main price target of the CT5.1 point

Not gonna happen any time soon. The Cadillac BEV is about the size of an Equinox, that's about as big as I would expect them to get in the next generation of EVs.1 point

I honestly have had a hit or miss with refurbished phones. I think one truly needs to do research as it is buyer beware on the phones. I tend to change phones every 4 years so I buy top of the line, in this case been staying with the Samsung Note, went with Note 3 and then Note 8. So yes, $1K is allot of money but when figured over 4 years or so it ends up being cheap for a reliable long term phone.1 point

My phone is a refurb that was sent to me as a warranty replacement. It's been fine.1 point

i tried looking for the Silverado's meat curtains and i don't think i found them. er, i mean, air curtains with as small as that lil' turbo looks under the hood there, you'd swear when showing your friends that maybe there's un alectic mootor under the hood of that thing. You could tell your friends you got the first electric pickup truck, they wouldn't be the wiser, and you could stun all your friends.0 points

I finally sat in one of these, the interior is a joke for the price point, and it is a cramped interior too, a C-class or A4 has more interior space and they are smaller cars. The interior isn't any better than what you get in an Optima, it just has a different layout. The big mistake of this car is it should have been priced on par with a Mustang, upper $20s for the for the turbo 4 and $35k for the turbo V6. The Stinger I sat in had a sticker over $54k, and in mid to high 50s you are talking 340i or C43 money, neither of which say Kia on them.-1 points
