  1. Took the day off and drove down to Ocean City, MD for the 29th Annual Cruisin' Ocean City weekend. Met up with my bro and his family. Was a great day.

  2. The non-Chevy, Corvette-esque concepts of '54 weren't really considered seriously- they were attention-grabbing show cars is about it. There was no development past them; they weren't intended for production. And Cadillac actually did get one- the '53 2/3-seater LeMans, which Cadillac built 5 of. It likely had more serious consideration that the Olds/Pontiac/Buick versions for production. The Corvette, I believe, was intended to be more of an 'everyday man's' sport car, and therefore seemed logical for Chevrolet… but even from '53, it was high priced. It was closer to double the top '53 Chevy base price, and only $100-200 cheaper than the base Series 62 Coupe at Cadillac in '53. smk's claim it's been a cheap sports car since the beginning is invalid. A 'Corvette' for Cadillac in '53 was too far removed from their position & mission at the time. The LeMans would've worked well, tho… but Cadillac had the Eldorado convertible, which would have it's own unique rear clip from '55-58.

  3. I am hoping my love for Duke Cannon Sandalwood Old milwaukee beer soap excludes me from that hipster category you deftly described above. ??Plus I have SOME hair. Not bear hair but some. ? It’s a shame a hot brand like Tesla (does that mean their cars like to catch on ??) can’t even get trim and body panels to line up that’s my own photo from the other day

  5. Favorite package and drive day to day. Right size, right look, right comfort, right power...and 2016+ have further refined and updated steering systems, etc. 549 miles on a tank, and that crisp 8 speed with a Pentastar that rips...perfect. Still nothing has lived up to them, in all my drives. Even equally enjoyed a well used 38k mile 2016 GC Laredo 4x2 with ZERO options back in 2017. No camera, no remote start, tiny radio, yet drove the same, and averaged 27.5 mpg.

  6. ^ I don't believe that's a major percentage OR factor in plant operating costs. It's not like an EV uses 50% of IC assembly space, it's probably closer to 90%. Not going to move needles except in new EV-only plant construction (which we've yet to see any of). Besides, EV brands could use the extra floor space to do extensive and common post-assembly repair work (Tesla) or stockpile unsold production when the next tax credit halving hits (every EV maker).

  7. Coupes were a viable alternative when the full-size cars ruled. When the intermediates began to eclipse the full-size cars, it seems the attention to the F/Sers BY THE OEMs waned. Then as each successive model line showed up, increasingly smaller, this is where the disadvantage to a 2-dr became more pronounced, and they waned as a body style. - - - - - This was sitting in a fringe parking lot at a major Lowe's /shopping center, I assume it was a prank :

  8. I've been there 2 years, '13 and '16. '13 was great, but in '16 it rained and it was a ghost-town. My buddy gets a hotel room and he didn't want to leave, since I rode down with him I was stuck. Even looked into getting a train north but nothing worked out. That was miserable.

  9. @ocnblu Nice try. The word "coiffed" has 2 f's. Regarding the car, it's a nice try. It is sort of boring. Maybe it won't be boring to drive. A proportionately long wheelbase is often a good thing to have for ride quality. As has already been mentioned, the front overhang, or lack of it, could be a problem. In terms of the side/rear, I do not like that kink in the belt line where it meets the C-pillar and the heavy handed chrome there. I'd like to see what this car looks like in rear 3/4 view before judging it more firmly. I'm all for people scooping up Cadillacs. I'm not one of their customers. Buick has failed me and others by not offering a new Verano. The dealers have told me this ... that people are asking for it.
