  1. I wish GM could do plood like this... and update their 8" infotainment screens to something a little larger perhaps.

  2. Detroit 3 Truck makers CANNOT do this, Rivian will have a Tank Feature on their Truck and SUV for added Off-road capability. https://electrek.co/2019/07/24/rivian-electric-pickup-truck-tank-steer-video/ Very Cool

  4. That may be the case... but what kind of cost cutting and shortcuts are they going to take to drive down costs?

  5. They are flush with cash, they have over €21 billion in cash and short term investments, €121 billion in current assets and made €7.25 billion last year over €10 billion the year before. They’ll be fine.

  7. Sorry. BMW is NOT stupid for charging for Apple CarPlay. BMW owners and lessees are stupid for PAYING for Apple CarPlay in the BMW of their choice. Many of them would be better off replacing the roundel with a Cadillac of their choice.

  8. So just do the opposite of what it takes to NOT lose more money as well as alienate your buyers with a bordering illegal bait and switch tactic? Mmmkay. Why would the “best or nothing” need to build its brand image?

  9. If the Dodge brand is still around in 5 years, it will just be the Charger and Challenger I suspect.

  10. AMG GT and G Wagen are priced high enough that their low sales shouldn't be an issue. You could probably average those 5677 sales at $150,000 per unit.. Oh that's a good way to lose some of the wealthiest people in the world as clients.

  11. Welcome to the global recession start. Expect job cuts in many countries world wide of basic worker assembly line jobs to manual labor day jobs. Time for the world to take a break and focus on reduction of debt. This is going to hurt many.

  12. So let's take a hard look at MB sales which was posted here: Based on these numbers for the first 6 months, anything under 10,000 a year sold is not considered profitable by the auto industry, the following models should be cut: B-Class - Only 6 sold year to date. SLC - Only 1,187 sold year to date. SL - Only 928 sold year to date. AMG GT - Only 1,858 sold year to date. G-Class - Only 3,819 sold year to date. Smart - Only 496 sold year to date. I am sure there are other models that if we broke down the coupe versus regular models we could find additional efficiencies by model reduction. Also, All customers effective immediately should get refunds for the Vaporware Hypercar that is not able to be made roadworthy and really is a waste of time and money since the F1 engine was never designed for street legal roads.

  13. I'm just giving @smk4565 a hard time because we all know MB is his baby. I know this is just part of the industry. There are highs and lows and getting ahead of those times is crucial. Please, Please axe the GLC Coupe and GLE Coupe.

  14. Just because others have done doesn’t mean it was okay for Daimler to do it.

  15. I really have to wonder if if Kia will keep making the Sedona based on the sales figures of less than 20k a year in the US, especially now that they have what appears to be a very popular three row CUV.

  16. They are “flush with cash”, while standing in front of the toilet apparently. Now we know why they abounded their “worlds best luxury pick up” plan.

  17. Dana, Maumee, Ohio. My sister is working a consulting gig there...sounds like their IT organization has issues from many acquisitions of other companies.. Some trucks have tilt beds, this is the tilt frame option...

  18. He is..sadly.. I was never a huge fan of his late night show but I've always loved him as a car guy. The one line that confused me because I know he has a lot of modern stuff, too, was when he was talking about the 8spd DCT transmission and he said he was surprised because a lot of other cars are using 4 and 5 spd automatics. That was a decade+ ago. Do you guys need pictures of the Colorado breaking in half as well? Or is that blasphemy because Chevy?

  19. There’s issues, and there’s issues bad enough that an OEM buys their product back at 1.5X market value and destroys it. yes; no consumer product is without some flaws.

  20. Now that's thinking! Simply rig up 100 extension cords into the car's power system output port (somehow), snake them thru the front door/across the showroom floor, then back-feed it into the dealership's panel box (somehow).

  21. GM would benefit from these solar roof cars, so many of GM's overpriced strangely packaged cars sit on lots for 12-18 months if they plugged the cars solar panel's into the grid they could power the dealer's building lights and power i bet

  22. Truly, again, the real world impressive...sounds, feels, look... https://youtu.be/rmm8fjOiMCs I followed a new red XT6 with dealer plates from NYC Friday night...holy meh...on road, it's bland even vs. an Acadia. Let alone the core, and internals.

  23. An honest to goodness real legit Cadillac XT6 passed me on the highway today. Well, it’s ok but doesn’t ooze luxury. And it’s sort of generic. It seems to be a bit taller than other CUV’s oh they’ll still sell a bunch of them

  25. Sometimes I feel that Fiat knows less about American market product than Daimler did. Daimler at least flooded the product pipeline and was very forward looking with crossovers and new concepts - maybe they were a little too early. Daimler's problem was that they thought American product ought to be done as cheaply as possible - damn styling and interior quality. Fiat on the other hand will put a lot of capital in just a few products - but their brand strategy is very confusing and diluted. In either scenario, I'm not sure the guys at Auburn Hills ever have much say. 93-99 was really the golden era and will never return.

  26. Layoffs are very common with cash flush companies in the name of "efficiencies" or "refocusing their efforts". Banks, tech companies etc etc It is just about the share prices and bottom line, not the people or the places.
