I think just FWD versions are CVT. If that is the case, most want their CUV to have AWD in which case you can upgrade to AWD plus 9 speed and its a non issue. Car and Driver gave decent praise to the CVT in the malibu, although it is still a CVT...it replaced a 6 speed.3 points

OK...back to cars. Where were we? Oh yes. Where we left off. Daisy Duke shorts. And what does that have in common with the Aston Martin CUV? Its ass. I got another image of that Aston Martin CUV ass. Daffy Duck's bill...2 points

Im glad the thread temporarily went from ugliness (AM CUV) to prettiness (50s and 60s chicks) for a brief moment.... I was responding to @dfelt and @USA-1 posts about Marilyn and JFK. I googled to see what kind of cars Marilyn drove or liked so I couild at least link it to Aston Martin, but I found nothing concrete to tie it in. (Seeing this is an Aston Martin CUV thread and all...) She had a Cadillac convertible, a 1956 Thunderbird. It lo0ks like she owned a 1961 Corvette and a 1962 Chrysler 300. Maybe a Land Rover and a MG. She did own a Jaguar XK and a Mercedes 220 both convertible and the link also said that apart from her Land |Rover, she did not really like European cars. So...if she was a sex pot alive today, I dont think she be driving around in a Aston Martin car or SUV. I think a Mary Kay Land Rover and a Cadillac Escalade would be her choices for SUVs and as far as cars go, probably a Cadillac CT6... So there, you cant say I totally derailed the thread. ?2 points

CVTs BLOW Hard, take a 9sp any day over a CVT.2 points

The C8 is missing quite a few things though.... The C8 does not offer AWD and continuous and limitless gear ratios... The C8 is ONLY RWD and is limited to 8 speeds...BLAH! And let us not talk about the price...holy Jeebus! I could buy 2 Trailblazers for the price of 1 Corvette. So...what is so mighty about the C8, then?2 points

Good thing American companies like GM build all their cars and make all their components right here is the good old USA. Oh wait. And “light pipes”? Seriously? What should make you mad is that this looks better, on the inside and outside, than the Cadillac it competes with, the XT6. The most hilarious part here is that you didn’t mention the one MUCH MORE OBVIOUS thing that Hyundai copied here. The profile is almost 100% Tahoe (it can join the Expedition in that department). Oh no! Guess that makes me a Hyundai fanboy now! Oh, the horror!1 point

The first product to come from Ford's investment into startup automaker Rivian will likely be a Lincoln SUV due to arrive sometime in 2022. The vehicle will be all-wheel drive and compete against Rivian's own R1S which is priced at $72,500. The models will share Rivian's skateboard platform, a design that combines the motors, batteries, controls and suspension into a single unit that the body can be built around. The Rivian R1S is a three-row EV crossover with a range of up to 410 miles and will be built in Normal Illinois at a former Mitsubishi plant. It is expected to go into production sometime in 2021. There will also be a compact Lincoln EV crossover coming for 2021 that could be built on the same platform that the Ford Mustang Mach-E rides on. EV sales have been tepid so far in the US, but Lincoln is banking on the EVs to be bigger sellers in the Chinese market. View full article1 point

Im gonna get my cues from the movie The Shawshank Redemption Rita Hayworth And just like with the inmates watching the movie when this scene comes on. Except substitute boys instead of the girls in the gif... Then there is Rachel Welch. And Ill up the ante further with Barbra Eden. Just because I could honestly say Ive seen most if not all of the I Dream Of Genie episodes via reruns in the 1970s that I watched with my mom after school waiting for my dad to come home from work. I could post a Genie pic, but I found this instead and I found this to be sexier than her being half naked.1 point

I don't find any of them to be particularly better looking than MM. I mean, c'mon; Mia Farrow ?? For me, some women 'elevate' their physical appeal with a combination of looks and (perceived) personality. MM was one of those. Another that fits this bill and pops to mind is Catherine Bach from the Dukes days:1 point

Here is an interesting read on a comparison of what is known about this SUV versus the Urus. https://gulfnews.com/auto/car-culture/comparison-aston-martin-dbx-vs-lamborghini-urus-1.1574676553090 Guess the web site did this to get clicks as there is no info on the Aston compared to the Maybach. https://www.suvdrive.com/comparison/aston-martin-dbx-2020-vs-mercedes-maybach-gls-600-4matic-20201 point

There IS no downside... Even if range will NEVER be improved to what we got today, which is almost 300 miles. Not quite 300...its still NOT a deterrent for a lot of folk. In Greece, on the island where my momma grew up, even up until the 1990s...AD... there was not many gasoline stations around. And as we all know, Europe and Greece limit engine displacement, plus its an island where thousands of years have gone by where donkey and horses were the main transport, so even a Chevrolet Sonic would have a hard time to get around let alone a full sized, big blocked American V8 land yacht would be possible to be driven in, would be a downside. Here in America, we dont think twice about that...right? So, it be a downside to own a 427 Impala SS in Kefalonia, right? Or even a 350 cubic inch LT1 1996 Impala SS, right? The downside of owning an EV in Lancaster, might be a downside for you...but for you, in Lancaster, its a 1st world problem... Unless of course Lancaster, in 2020, is still like my mom's Greek village from like, the 1990s...BC. As in BEFORE CHRIST... If, in Greece, on that stupid island where my momma came from, there are people that consider buying EVs, why in the phoque would someone from the good 'ole USofA find it such a thorn on their side is beyond my comprehension? As you may or may not know, 2 summers ago I took the family to Greece, and yes, I talked to local yocals about EVs, I did NOT meet one sumbitch that was against EVs... anecdotal, sure, but maybe its the dumb Greek way of life that does not limit their spirits and their progress...I dont know...1 point

Dont forget married to baseball star Joe DiMaggio. I think she also had romantic links to Hollywood hunks Marlon Brando and legendary Frank Sinatra. The girl got around. The why part? The answer: The wholesome 1950s and the EARLY 1960s. Sex was taboo. Sex was forbidden. Sex was a hush hush thing. But there was innuendo galore though. And the image was blondes have more fun. Busty blondes especially. (I dont even think she was a natural blonde either) But the start of the sex pot, dumb blonde was well on its way and Marilyn was the leader. I agree with you Dfelt. I dont get the attraction either. But to be fair, she is a product of her time.... Im curious though, what dark secrets did she carry about Hollywood especially when its finally out in the open with this whole #metoo movement with the likes of Epstein, Weinstein, good 'ole Willy Billy Clinton, Prince Andrew, dare I say Donald Trump, and um....JFK...1 point

So everyone is groaning and moaning about Nissan, Honda and Subaru using CVT but nobody mentioned it here? I guess the badge justifies different treatment. 1.2L turbo with CVT - ohh I am sure this will be lightning fast.1 point

I like the relatively upright, flat windshield. This feature should lend a feeling of good visibility and interior space, as it does on the Jeep Renegade. The LT trim looks good over at Chevy's site, but the Activ fits me to a T. The Trailblazer manages to look better in all trims than its massively expensive, larger bro, the Blazer. The Blazer looks pitifully boring in any guise except for the RS. I can agree with SMK on the name, Tracker may have been a more logical name for it, based on history, but it is what it is. I am noticing a whole lot less vitriol over this being called Trailblazer than the whole Blazer ruckus that was raised... maybe it is because the Trailblazer, as a product, is more compelling than the Blazer. I would rather drive a Ford Edge than a Blazer if I were looking in that size/price class.1 point

True. I havent noticed it because it is so subtle on the cars. And nicely done I might add. This CUV rear end though, to take your choice of words, has been uglified unfortunately. About the Cybertruck. The most popular consensus seems to be that the Cybertruck could be a truck from Blade Runner. I see it as an Aliens universe truck.1 point

^ Maybe they also can help the newly-rudderless Musk and offer him their design, like Nikola did. Thats 89 billion times more appealing. We can hardly find people who are in the new car market to go BE, how many vintage vehicle customers would there be? Would also like to know how they allow for bolting up to dozens of different transmissions?1 point

It's futuristic in that it looks like it's a prop from a sci fi movie...more futuristic than the hideous Silverado HD, for example, which looks like most any other truck of the last 20+ years but with an uglified front end. One aspect of the Cybertruck that is very different is the low, pointy front end and sloped back windshield instead of the usual overwrought grille and bloat of a mainstream truck. I do wonder if we will see sleeker trucks emerge, EV and otherwise, instead of the overwrought, blunt fronts that pervade trucks now.1 point

Those are some Hardcore Ford "fanboys" right there! Invite them on so they can chat with Errol Hassol! (decipher it) ?1 point

I still think Musk is screwing with everybody. They'll release the actual Cyborgtruck and say "Psych!" ? Noway they are releasing the "Lego Truck" for an actual production truck. If so, they are all severely lacking oxygen out in the Bay Area.1 point

And I could hear @ocnblu say from the top of his lungs up here in Montreal...(that is quite the distance from Lancaster) "Yeah! Spoiled Rotten!"1 point

About the bolded part... The ass of that Aston looks like the face of that Tesla. Its unique because I think its the first time in automotive history that a car took inspiration of another for its ass...maybe Tesla's face is only good enough for Aston's ass? I see what you did there!!!1 point

You cannot remotely compare the Tesla truck to ANY production car (I can think of). ‘59 Edsel is a dreamboat in comparison.1 point

I have no problem with Aston making an SUV. That's where the money today is and it is a big and profitable market. I bet DBX will sell more than the rest of the lineup combined. I am just a little disappointed in the design. It is not a bad looking SUV but I expected better from Aston.1 point

I have to say that a $20K Trailblazer is a good idea. Here is what would improve that: a $14K Trax to go along with the new Trailblazer. Gotta get more Chevy buyers to ditch the used car market for NEW affordable options.1 point

Nice try, but it's an ugly take on the signature Cadillac front LED lightpipes. Like you said @Drew Dowdell trying to emulate Escalade. Nice try Hyun...? So much for being "Assembled in U.S.A." like so many think about many of the foreign cars in this country. 91% Korean parts...Final Assembly Korea. Where are the last 6% of parts from China and they didn't want to show it? ? All in support of Korea if one buys it...????-1 points
