  1. The bigger question is how relevant is TV advertising in the age of streaming, where a lot of content can be consumed ad-free?

  2. If those two are cross shopped, the XT6 looses 10 times out of 10, saving $10,000.

  3. Weak. 271 torques in a 3-row, luxury SUV shouldn't be a thing. The XT5 is large enough that there should be an upgrade available and the XT4 doesn't really need more(258 in the turbo-4) but an optional engine would be nice. This is a luxury automaker, after all. Lincoln, mother fckn Lincoln, has a much better drivetrain portfolio than Cadillac does right now with the 4.2 being discontinued and no s/c V8 available.

  4. If only GM were really dialed into the rest of Cadillac too. . . . .

  5. Much better, but still not inspired, the female voice is so flat and unexcited. It is as if they have a person who loves Lexus trying to sell Cadillac. WHERE IS THE PASSION? That is missing from both of these commercials. I remember the commercial that had and projected true emotion of I want to check out that auto. Recardo Montalbon. There are others, but we need people who can project passion and sell the auto even if you do not care for the auto. This has always stuck in my mind as he did an outstanding job of selling the auto with passion.

  6. Just saw it again on Hulu watching the Container Home show. NO car commercials “inspire” me, I am largely numb to advertising influence and I’ve seen it all / its all been done before. That’s just your strict association with 3-row CUVs tho. Anytime 6 or so want to travel in one vehicle, what are they supposed to do; hire a stretch limo?

  7. How about this XT6 ad with a diverse group of Millennial hipsters... (struck me as funny since the XT6 is a 3 row soccer mom family hauler type of CUV).

  8. This is the 30 sec version Ive been seeing; theres a longer 1 min version too Theres also the one from a bit ago where someone is peeling the vinyl wrap camo off a CT5.

  9. GM is rapidly becoming a small regional automaker, period...

  10. Diesel is DEAD ON ARRIVAL for Escalade. This Diesel engine has not had the time to really have enough real world driving to see if an Aluminum block with steel sleeves can live up to the 15:1 compression and not crack or have other issues. I would leave it in the Chevy and GMC brands and not in Cadillac. Luxury buyers in the US are past wanting diesel even in German brands. Diesel is Dead Dead Dead. Hybrid, Supercharged / Turbo charged is where the engine options should be. This whole basic V8 and Diesel with a look that is way too Chevrolet shows that the new head of Cadillac is more concerned with playing politics than building Cadillac back into the standard of the world Luxury company with unique engines, interiors, exteriors, etc. If Cadillac CANNOT set themselves apart from the rest of GM with their EVs and using names again, then Cadillac will never be anything other than a small local specific luxo auto company that has given up on the world.

  11. Diesel seems like it would be a dead end, outside of HD pickups. A supercharged V8 then a Hybrid of some sort would make more sense...

  12. Ugh, GX or XT6, I'll pass on both. If I was into offroading I might like the GX but such a dated interior and poor on-road dynamics. Nice leather I'm guessing though.

  13. Agreed- traditional TV has to be losing significant marketshare to other mediums.

  14. I doubt they will be dead, the one area that Unions seem to have a strangle hold on is basic construction of buildings, roads and especially the plumbers, electrician and appliance service industry. The change is eventually you will find more folks going out on their own as independents giving pricing options that are better than a mega large unionized company. Yet some who will not do their research will still over pay to a union shop. The 24 hour fitness I go to has 9 TV's up on the wall in front of all the cardio equipment. Only one is on music videos, the other 8 are all on different stations so I felt it was a good spread of seeing what commercials are playing as I looked over them all and people watched warming up. I did end up seeing an Acura commercial and 2 Toyota commercials on when I was leaving. I still did not see any GM ads. Very weird. That's cause the Trust Fund 600lb Millennial's need the Escalade to move their Butt around. ?

  15. It’s more torque than the 3.6 LFY in the XT6’s siblings from Chevy and Buick though (but the Acadia being Professional Grade gets the same engine/torque). And about the same as a major competitor (Lexus RX).

  16. No, but the LGX 3.6 in the XT5 and XT6 makes 271 units.

  18. Some cats are okay. If you have a cat that was socialized by being handled and played with by kids, it tends to like people more as it grows. I hate the ones that run away and hide under the bed. We once had a good cat when I was a kid. I much prefer dogs. I don't like those dogs you refer to all that much because they're too big. I like the medium sized "working/herding dogs:" border collies, Australian Shepherds, etc. They are among the smartest breeds. The way they run a study like this is that they have to quantify strata of qualitative factors. Then they do observations. And then they would run the numbers. That's what it sounds like based on statistics courses I took a long time ago. I'm not surprised a dog loves its owner at least 5X as much.

  19. GM do you hear the Banshee, it has been screaming for the last 3yrs since you killed local production. There was nothing to allow you to revive Holden. It was a slow hemorrhaging death. R.I.P. Holden, you will be missed as you made amazing products!
