Cool web site and good info on what GM is doing to work with the Environment rather than against it. https://www.gmsustainability.com/ One can download the sustainability report here: https://www.gmsustainability.com/_pdf/resources-and-downloads/GM_2019_SR.pdf Key bits on what the new EV roadmap which has expanded is as follows: The Product Cadence of Our Evolving EV Portfolio GM is well on its way to an all-electric future, with a commitment to 20 new electric vehicles by 2023 and plans for additional models taking us beyond that. Our all-new modular platform removes significant physical constraints associated with conventional vehicles — no need to build around gas tanks, engines, radiator or exhaust pipes, for example. In the past, EV design placed great importance on differentiating the EV visually from its ICE counterparts. No more. The flexibility of this new platform frees us to proportion vehicles to meet unique brand personas and to design around vehicle and customer segment needs. Here are the EVs that each GM brand anticipates introducing. CADILLAC GM’s luxury brand plans to introduce four electric SUVs and one statement vehicle including: • Cadillac Lyriq SUV, which is designed to hit the heart of the crossover market and meet the needs of customers around the world. • A globally sized luxury three-row SUV that emphasizes interior space and cargo capability for the modern family. • An SUV EV with attainable luxury — similar to today’s Cadillac XT4 — and aimed at this key global growth segment. • A full-size, three-row luxury SUV that builds on the DNA of the brand’s highly successful Escalade. • The Cadillac Celestiq Statement Vehicle that is an ultra-lux EV with bespoke, hand-assembled craftmanship and project build rate of only 1.2 vehicles per day. GMC Teased during the 2020 Super Bowl telecast, GMC is bringing back the iconic Hummer brand through two models: • GMC Hummer EV truck that boasts performance of 1,000 horsepower, 11,500 lb-ft of torque and 0 to 60 mph acceleration in three seconds. • GMC Hummer EV SUV builds off the GMC Hummer EV truck but will be configured as an off-road-capable SUV. CHEVROLET Building on the success of the 2020 Chevrolet Bolt EV, which offers new front-end design and other exterior updates, the brand intends to launch: • A mid-sized SUV targeted to U.S. customers who are looking for an electric option in this segment. • Chevrolet BET Truck, which will be the brand's first electric full-size pickup, offering 400+ miles of range on a single charge. • Chevrolet Bolt EUV that features a distinctive SUV design inspired by the Chevy Blazer and offers Super Cruise driver assistance — the first vehicle outside of Cadillac to do so. BUICK Two new all-electric entries for the Buick portfolio will carry the new face of the brand: • A Buick SUV will offer more conventional crossover proportion that maximizes interior space and cargo. • A Buick CUV will feature more expressive proportion with a greater emphasis on form and athletic fashion. In addition, the Cruise Origin autonomous vehicle will be the first production vehicle from our partnership with Honda. Read about the Origin on page 74.3 points

I question, after 2020’s inevitable tax shortfall, where NYS is going to get 3/4 of a billion extra dollars from.2 points

It's slightly stupid. I didn't mind FCA. Stellantis reminds me of the renaming of what was salvaged of (highly full of themselves) Arthur Andersen as "Accenture," with all of these new corporate names of the last 2 decades having this ethereal, intergalactic ring to them. Accenture is kinds of weird, too. It sounds like something related to cosmetics. As for Stellantis, I think of this:2 points

You said it yourself... the oil industry feeds far more than... So why does the oil industry STILL get help from that same state coffer you want to defend? The oil industry is a multi trillion gabagoodillion dollar industry. Why arent you up in arms for them still getting some teet from taxpayers? Like I said... I really dont understand the pushback that some industries face while others dont seem to bother the endless sucking of public money even when its CERTAINLY not necessary anymore... PS: Like you say, even if gasoline powered cars go away, there is enough oil products to be consumed that the oil industry still stays to be a gabagoodillion dollar industry. There is no need for big oil to cry foul for EV subsidy help, or gasoline taxes to go up or whatever. The big oil industry is certainly not gonna go away and whither. And BECAUSE its a gabagoodillion dollar industry, they could INVEST in EVs and make THAT much MORE money. But NO! The fat phoquing cats that collect all that phoquing money from all the phoquing oil derivative products out there, and all the phoquing government subsidies want ALL that wealth ALL to themselves... And WE as consumers ALLOW them to do that. Ill repeat.... I really dont understand the pushback that some industries face while others dont seem to bother the endless sucking of public money even when its CERTAINLY not necessary anymore... What we OUGHT TO DO, is pull a French revolution on some of these fat phoquing cats STILL having their fat phouqing cat hands out. Let them eat cake...and they beheaded the bitch... Ill repeat: At the turn of the last century, big oil got all kinds of help...all kinds of wars were fought, people died...but yet here we are...we get a little upset when gasoline taxes are asked to go up to subsidize another power source... Why do we want to be so loyal to big oil? I mean...I get why Texans and Albertans get all huffy and puffy about it. But as for Alberta...they got another source of energy they could exploit. WATER... They could EASILY make gabagoodillion amounts of money doing the water thing... NOPE! If the people that want to continue to pollute the planet by driving internal combustion engines...THEY could subsidize the cleaner fuel alternative. And when not enough taxpayer money is collected by gasoline, we could tax electricity the way we tax gasoline in 2020... Oh...and when EXXON's ship captain gets drunk and hits a rock because he was too sloshed to see where the phoque he was going...EXXON could pay BILLIONS in not only clean-ups, but in FINES. Dont worry...EXXON has got gabagoodillion amounts of money. They could afford it the billions in fines to clean up their messes... (yes I realize that was a 30 year old accident...but oil spills CONTINUE to happen WITHOUT a NAY or PEEP by ANYBODY. I toss a banana peel in the street, Ill get pushed to the ground, read my rights and fined...and Im lucky for that as I have white skin...had I been black though...)1 point

Well... The oil industry got big big....big subsidies from governments...and continue to get big, big...big subsidies from governments to continue on... Tit for tat is what I say. Government gives tax breaks to car makers all the time Government has bailed out car makers in the past. These car makers produce oil burning cars. Does it seem economically fair to let EVs survive on their own? The oil industry did not do it on their own. I really dont get the push back for one industry to get help while the other STILL gets help...1 point

Just for laughs ... Bond meets Irma Bunt for the first time before the helicopter ride up to Piz Gloria. It goes without saying: I always get a chuckle out of flying on Lufthansa or walking through FRA airport.1 point

Always liked OHMSS....George Lazenby was a bit wooden as Bond, but I loved the scenery and Diana Rigg and her '69 Cougar. Corgi back in the day did 1/64th diecast of several cars from that movie. I recently watched a documentary about George Lazenby, was pretty entertaining...he was a used car salesman from Australia turned model, and OHMSS was his first acting role.1 point

The last photo (color pic) looks like a villain from 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service'..the 1969 George Lazenby Bond film. Her name was something like Rosa Klebb (sp?), IIRC. Edit: the character's name was 'Irma Bunt'. Not sure who Rosa Klebb was. The actor was Ilse Steppat, died in 1969 at age 52. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0064757/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0 Edit: Rosa Klebb was a female villain in 1963's 'From Russia With Love', Sean Connery's 2nd outing as 007.1 point
