^ This guy really knows how to monologue, but I value that he doesn't just breezily say 'Oh; future tech advances will work everything out, period' like other do. Watched 5:30 mins, can't argue with that part of it.3 points

There's been a bunch of custom & I believe aftermarket alternatives. Would love to see GMC come out with something along this line- with the CabonPro & MultiPro bed features, perhaps.3 points

One aspect of the above video that needs to be analyzed (and maybe he did in the rest I didn't watch) is that there's not necessarily a limitless amount of grid increase 'out there'. ALSO, it's a lot easier and cheaper to go from -say- 1 million to 1.33 million (a gain of 330,000) than it is to go from 4 million to 5.32 million (a gain of 1,320,000). That same percentage in both cases (33%) is 4 times larger in the second scenario.2 points

Recent pics of the furkids, with their winter long coats. Raine (age 7): She's an Australian Terrier mix, about 14 lbs. Both were Yorkies, he was rather large for the breed.2 points

This is just so much sexier....GM...appeals to Baltazar...Pontiac...appeals to everyone...TA...appeals to Oldshurst...automotive content and keeping it real...appeals to Drew...people who are sane like YKX and CCAP will find nothing to like at all...USA-1 Will find a way to make this positive....Dave87Rs will compare this to his Cobalt...what a win! Sweet. they can't build ICE Vettes, let's add Electric vettes that they won't be able to build due to aprts shortages also. Side by side....enjoy both till you are a grouchy old man. Then they can collect dust in your garage while you find existential meaning upvoting and downvoting posts on C and G. There even was a guy named red green....how appropriate... Speaking of old...2 points

Most are unbuilt. I’m pretty slow at finishing. I’ve built quite a few over the years, but seem to take forever to finish.2 points

I wake up every February 9 and realize that's an important day in the history of the city if a person is an Angeleno. Today marks the 50th anniversary of the big 1971 Sylmar quake. The original movie "Earthquake" with Charlton Heston and Genevieve Bujold was based on this event. The Northridge quake of 1994, aka the MLK quake of January 17, also had its epicenter nearby in the San Fernando Valley, but was stronger. One thing these quakes had in common is that the especially high and long span ramp from the California 14 freeway to I-5 collapsed. They are bizarre events. There's a muted rumble like a distant freight train in addition to the shaking, and you instinctively run to put yourself under a door frame or something structural. They're definitely working on it, but we really need some think tanks like Stanford, Caltech, and Berkeley to come up with more reliable seismic prediction technology.2 points

OK. here's the update since last post. Cylinders were filled with Marvel Mystery Oil end of August but the motor never responded to turning any further. OK, it may have moved about 1/16th of a revolution. It's stuck. It has to come out. Using a borescope, most of the cylinders are fine, 2 look less so. Don't have any idea why it won't turn- it's something else. I decided to have the Tri-P rebuilt and run that, it needs to get done so the motor can use it when being built. 2 months turnaround on the carbs, supposedly 3 months before the engine builder has a slot for my mill. Cam is spec'd, going to do some transmission recon as I may swap it for a THM400 unit. It's either get this car moving again, or sell it off.1 point

I'm a much calmer driver here in Pittsburgh. They're overly polite in this city to the point of being annoying. When I'm back in NJ or NY, I turn into Mr. Hyde. But the more severe accidents are on the high speed highways. My experience driving a SuperCruise Cadillac to NJ was that it was much less tiring than doing the driving myself. In day to day commuting I'd want to drive myself, but after about 30 minutes on the PA Turnpike that I've driven hundreds of times, I'm fine letting the car do most of the driving.1 point

Exciting news on the EV front. Effenco is offering their Heavy Duty EV Powertrain at the same price as the Diesel version. The truck technology is used in over 400 different trucks in 10 countries and has over 3 million miles driven now. Their Supercapacitor battery system allows a much faster recharge time over traditional Li-Ion battery packs and will allow companies especially in the shipping container yards to change over to EV faster since the cost is the same with better performance from higher torque and power. Charged EVs | Effenco offers its heavy-duty EV powertrain at the same purchase price as diesel alternatives - Charged EVs TOYOTA has announced today that they will introduce two electric auto's and a new plug-in Hybrid in 2021 to their portfolio. Haven't customized my background yet, but got my new job tools via Fed Ex on Friday--16 inch Mac Book Pro and 20 inch Dell monitor. May add a 2nd monitor. Set them up in my home office, got the usual tools so far...Slack, Gmail, Zoom...working on installing a bunch of dev tools and learning the company's products...haven't been able to get the wireless keyboard they sent working, so using one of my keyboards for now.1 point

I would be down for a Zoom meeting....think that could be a lot of fun! ? For me, I would have to be a road trip for sure. Seems most of the members here are on the east coast. We did have some folks in MI (Cory was here for a time too), but does not seem like too many left. I do have @William Maley not too far away..... I think my next closest would be @A Horse With No Name1 point

Yeah, they'll find those solar jobs right next to the oil fields they're currently working in. They won't have to pack up and hopefully find these solar jobs elsewhere in the country. Interviewer: What relevant work experience do you have? Person looking for work: I worked in the oil fields. Interviewer: How is that relevant? Person looking for work: I was told we still have jobs. A guy on the internet told me.1 point

NHTSA 1, Tesla 0, in the battle over recalls with Musk saying nothing is wrong, well Tesla has given in and has their first recall of 135,000 Tesla S and X over the on going failure of their NVIDIA Tegra 3 Processor based 17" infotainment screens. These 2012 to 2018 models will get the newest screens that go into the Tesla 3 / Y autos. Weird part in reading the story is that NHTSA is saying it is 158,000 to be recalled, so wondering if The Drive fat fingered this? Seems more Tesla Semi Trucks are showing up from the Nevada Giga Factory where they will be produced in California for testing. Seems Tesla has finally ditched the last item tied to ICE auto's, the 12V Lead Acid battery. They now use in the new revamped Tesla S and X auto's a 12V Li-Ion battery pack. This battery is what runs the lights, media unit, windows and locking doors. Tesla's new Model S and Model X get rid of lead-acid 12v battery, move to Li-ion - Electrek Musk has posted Drone footage showing how fast the Germany Giga factory is being built. Very cool EV Super Soco motorcycle. 123 mile range on current battery pack.1 point

The shitty Tesla Model S interior looks worse before you even get to the stat sheet. You'll never get me into a Model S with those interiors even if it had a 1,000 mile range. A Cadillac interior, 300 would be sufficient.1 point

I just spotted these. What a hoot. As for the latter, students at Notre Dame could hold that opinion, much like students at Chico State in CA could and probably do. Voila ... where you can "theoretically" get a Bachelor of Arts in Party Attendance (a BAPA).1 point
