  2. I used to listen to her religiously when she was on the air dispensing advice. As did many of my friends. - - - - - So, a younger person is on the line telling her they are beginning to experiment sexually. RW: "Do you use condoms?" Caller: "Yes." RW (rolling those r's like only a native speaker of German could): "Brrrrravo. I like to hear dat!" My friends and I would be doubling over laughing.

  3. For some reason I thought it would be Jagger that went first (Richards is immortal). Wonder if they'll retire the band now. They should.

  6. [I think I've tried this sleight-of-hand once before;] While not remotely the same in construction, my B-59 had a variable-ratio, shiftless automatic; if I can remember back that far I didn't have a problem with how it operated/drove... but obviously we're talking about Buick Engineering vs. whatever it is hyundai/kia does. ?

  7. I've wound up in several Rios as rentals over the past few years. They're competent little cars. However, the last one I had - a 2021 - had a CVT (IVT). The ones prior to that had 6 speed automatics and their shift quality was good for the price point.

  8. My son slops Nutella on his bread, a ton of it, and before he eats his Nutella soaked bread, he takes a spoonful of it and shoves it in his mouth. I, on the other hand, HATE Nutella...on bread. I just use the spoon directly in my mouth method with such gluttonous vigor. Its scary...

  10. I think like various transmissions with ICE, the BEVs will make CVT go to the grave. At least that is my hope.

  12. I will empty the jar by putting chocolate ice cream in it. My son too. In fact, we fight who will eat the Nutella first. Who will empty the jar first. My wife will fight both of us on why we go through soooo much Nutella... She once bought the Kirkland stuff. We whined to her to never buy such crap again. She hinted that she'd buy the Kraft stuff...we threatened bodily harm.... Nutella is a gift from the Roman Gods!

  13. Sounds like some versions of their subcompact and compact cars and CUVs use a CVT..(Accent, Elantra, Rio, Seltos, Soul, etc)...but the midsize and larger cars and CUVs have 7- and 8-spd autos and DCTs..

  16. @A Horse With No Name I thought it was fiction, but it's fact. All those places in the UK exist! I wonder if that's how they try to amp up some humor to combat the drizzle and the overcast skies. I'm not one for Northern Europe. A few trips told me that. I've constantly got the Mediterranean on the brain.

  17. Ever notice that in the search for intelligent life, all of the sensors are pointed away from earth? There was an aftermarket wood paneling kit that gives it a Jaguar feel. soo much richer looking. If I had one of these I would do it. I like the burled one better. I'd need to swap out that Cavalier shifter though.

  18. I think they look ungainly and awkward. If I'm spending $110k plus on a 3-row full size SUV, I'm getting something with pedigree, has night vision, and that can drive itself.
