Yeah, but the pound of chicken breast doesn't have to go to the sales manager to see if he can do anything on your trade, and he doesn't add two basis points to your loan's interest rate, and he doesn't try and sell you undercoating, and the price doesn't magically go up if you decide to pay cash.... and so on. I would like to go to the store, select the options I want, check the box (or not) for CadillacCare Warranty, opt for financing (or not) with no dealership overhead, and get an upfront amount on my trade if I have one. The process should be as simple as buying a phone.4 points

Jim Farley per the stories I posted above has said he sees the future where all Ford Dealers are Professional Customer Service Centers, not dealerships. He stated you would order the EV from Ford's web site and choose which service center to pick it up at.2 points

SEdan SEville SExy ... well, sort of Not having sedans around is going to make us crave for them even more. And, at this juncture, on this 3rd of June, I'm craving that free donut.2 points

It's a specific styling direction that BMW is taking.... oddly enough it was started by Volvo that started putting RWD proportions in FWD vehicles.2 points

The whole range of these segments is really weird.... like the RDX is CRV based so it should feel pretty roomy inside, but it doesn't because of the way the dash is packaged. There's a good bit of cargo space though so interior volume is fairly large... it just doesn't feel large. So as a driver, it feels no bigger than an X3 even though technically there is more room out back. The XT4 feels big for the class as it competes with the tiny GLA, but small at the same time. The low roof is a compromise for those who want "crossover coupes". The Corsair feels like a shortened version of a larger car, and it is FWD based so it gets those packaging efficiencies.... so even though it is roughly the same size as the GLC outside, it's got a lot more room inside.2 points

GLB is larger than X1... this is an area where there's not a lot of direct competition in size and because of the Germans' insane numbering system it gets confusing. In order of size, based on my opinion of interior roominess feel GLA / X2 (hatchbacks with lift kits... aka squished crossover coupes) X1 / Q3 (Similar legroom to Encore, but wider) XT4 Q4 e-Tron (This is about Encore GX in size) Q5 X3 / GLC / GV70 / RDX GLB Corsair (the Corsair is a good 3 inches wider, so it feels roomier. The GLB has the 3rd row, but slightly less cargo room.) ..... big gap XT5 ..... smaller gap X5 / GLE / XT6 / Aviator / GV80 / MDX Can't really go on exterior length. The GLB is FWD base and the GLC is RWD based... the GLC also has some legitimate off-road chops if you really wanted to. So while they may have similar exterior dimensions, the FWD packaging of the GLB gives more interior room.... enough so that you can get an optional 3rd row in it. The orientation of the engine really matters in packaging when talking about vehicles this small.2 points

Not much seen yet this month, but this pic popped up in my FB timeline--my Jeep in my carport in Phoenix, as I was packing up 5 years ago today. That was the day I left the desert void for good...starting a 2100 mile drive to Ohio that evening. All in all, I've enjoyed life in green, rainy NE Ohio way more than desert life.1 point

Prices do vary depending on who is selling, but they are still fixed at a specific point in time and vendor..i.e. I don't go in the Apple store and haggle, or go on Amazon and haggle. It's not a flea market...1 point

Oh I don't think it's a tech thing. I don't know anybody who looks forward to dealing with those people. Funny enough, the price haggling is probably the only part of the transaction that I don't hate. Them trying to upsell me on every little thing and then proceeding to try and convince me I need all of those upcharges, is what drives me the most nuts.1 point

I would rather pay a set price and have a professional customer service center than deal with the idiots that attempt to play manipulation games at the dealership of today. I know @Robert Hall would too, maybe this is a tech thing as I do not miss the haggling to get a price and have them attempt to manipulate people on their purchases.1 point

WOW, Lots of news from Ford over the last 24hrs. Ford CEO Forecasts $25,000 EV Price War, Brand's Future EVs Sold Online (insideevs.com) Ford CEO anticipates EV price war, shakeout to favor China, and industry consolidation (greencarreports.com) Electric car price war is coming, says Ford CEO - Electrek Ford CEO sees electric vehicle price war as EV costs decline | MarketBeat Ford CEO sees electric vehicle price war as EV costs decline - ABC News (go.com) Ford CEO Jim Farley Says Direct Sales, No Ads, Will Sell Future EVs (thedrive.com) So many more, but seems Ford sees the future to be online set price sales of EVs, price competition with auto companies selling EVs will end up costing some to close especially from China, but also in Japan, Europe and America. Not enough room for everyone, nor enough market for them all. Interesting times we live in.1 point

Thanks for proving my point about your status as the new resident troll who has a clear reading comprehension issue. And I quote (the WHOLE sentence, for CONTEXT), "Big difference there that you are clearly missing so whatever other excuses you want to make for not being informed here on this thread, knock yourself out. I’m done." Which was then followed by this (regarding the ACTUAL subject of the thread), "Given how trends come and go, there is an outside shot of sedans making some sort of comeback when EVs become standard fair. Fickle trends can be just that, fickle. As it is people, rationally or irrationally so, are just stuck on CUVs. Like vans and station wagons past though, that could always change over the next decade." Now notice, not a remark or reply to you until you felt compelled to interject with your "whimsical" brand of basic ignorance. To sum up, I AM DONE discussing the subject in bold with you. Anything else is fair game so stop acting like you have a "gotcha" moment when all you have is a total lack of reading comprehension moment(s).1 point

At 170k, the engine was running fine, but the transmission was slipping, the steering wheel clock spring was broken (the airbag light would come on and buzz on left turns), the power windows worked intermittently, etc...it was tired when I traded it on the '14. Didn't want to risk driving it cross country when I moved from AZ to OH. Which coincidentally, that 2100 mile road trip started 5 years ago today...1 point

^^^ I could sell the idea to the wife as: "Hey babe, its a hybrid!!!" Or "Hey babe, Im in the middle of a mid-life crisis over here. I NEED this car, capisce. At least Im not out here trying to seduce younger chicks, amirite???!!!" Either quote with a thick, New Jersey mafioso Italian accent. While I play this song as I say these things...1 point

I'm not on board here. I do not like Krisy Kreme donuts and their oil slick like glazing at all. I will readily stop by Dunkin and I'm okay with Tim Horton's donuts as well. I like the drier cake frosting of the latter two places. These Greek treats sound similar to but look different from loukoumades, which always seem to be available at Greek festivals. As much as I like Greek festivals, they can get pricey for their a la carte pricing. If I have room after the meat, potatoes/fries, and baklava, I might try these. And they are also good. This conversation is useful because it's reminding me not to miss out on National Donut Day!1 point

See? You misread what I said again. I said “dickbag”. Again, grow up. And talking to yourself online is a bit like talking to yourself in front of a bunch of strangers in the real world. Seek help for that condition of yours that has you speaking in the third person and talking to yourself. The nice folks, in the white jackets, from Bellevue will be speaking with you shortly.1 point

Someday you will stop referring to yourself in the 3rd person, grow up, and post like an actual adult who actually reads what someone says instead of what he is inferring from said words. Until then, save the constant need for internet validation for your grade school class. Sincerely, Everyone else who doesn’t post like a 13 year old1 point

Hi! My name is Oldshurst and I am an automotive bigot. All CUVs look the same to me...therefore I judge them to be all the same. I also HATE them all!!! I wish they could all burn to the ground. I am NOT for a more diverse automotive universe. I prefer the automotive world to be car based coupes, sedans and convertibles while REAL SUVs should be relegated to work shops and off-roading. Hauling stuff around should be done in pick-up trucks and fullsized vans and if we need to haul families around, sedan based wagons should be the ONLY way. We could stretch that to vans and minivans. Yup...all CUVs look the same and I am Oldshurst, an automotive bigot. PS: I am NOT lying when I say that CUVs all look the same. The rest is just humorous banter. Except the part that I wished ALL CUVs dead dead dead!!!1 point
