  1. If they're built for off-roading, CVTs can actually do really well for low-speed crawling, but they have to be configured that way. Technically, you can get the equiv of 4LO that a proper 4WD would have if it's built for it. Will Toyota do that? I think it's unlikely.

  3. Well, on top of being a Wagon nut, I have always had a soft spot for vans overall. The first 13 years of my life were spent riding around in my dad's 71' Chevy Sport 10 van (with a 3 on the tree) and so that has always stuck with me. As far as for doing this now, the space and versatility were big needs. I sold the Flex a few years ago (when the market was insane lol) and have been driving a 2014 Kia Sorento since then. I still have it but needed something bigger and more comfy for some future road trips so I started stopping out minivans. This is the Touring L model so it doesn't have all the bells and whistles but I only needed a few of each lol. It is a 2018 with 101K miles and was well taken care of. It spent its first 50K miles as a corporate lease so maintenance was always done. I had some concerns about the 9 speed but those fears were alleviated once I put my foot through the floorboard a few times to test it. Best of all, NO PAYMENTS> I finally got some long overdue money owed to me and pst of that to get this for $13K. Needless to say, I am a happy camper right now. It does ride well and I like that it rides on 17s instead of 18s or 19s. Softer ride on those. My best bud has the same year Limited model with the largest wheels and while his rides well, it is a little firmer on the bumps than this one. Again, pretty happy camper here. I wasn't real keen on them when they first came out but the look has aged well and my tastes have clearly changed as well lol.

  4. So, just to be clear. This new RAV4 can actually charge at 11kw, same as the new Toyota BZ and Toyota CH-R. The previous RAV-4 Prime was 6.6kw, which was the same AC charge rate as the BZ4x. So yeah, they did use the same AC charger.

  5. @surreal1272 I'm guessing from the photos that the new vehicle is white, which is always a good choice for both heat and visibility. I've seen some in that enamel pale gray (they might have called it dove gray in the past) and they really caught my eye. (That color comes into style and goes, once being popular in Cadillac and Buick ... my dad had a Buick in that color with the tufted buttoned velour seats in the same color and long trips in it were a pleasure.) If I could have that, with a gray cloth interior, along with a 3.5 Pentastar V6, I would enjoy driving one. Not that I enjoy moving - I hate it - but the Chrysler vans can sure carry a lot of stuff with the seats down. On the GM side of things, I sort of miss the now long gone Silhouette minivan by Olds over those of the other GM divisions.

  6. Honestly, I like it. Am I wowed beyond belief? No, but I think it'll sell like crazy. I appreciate a lot of the upgrades to the interior. I wish the release came with more details. The interior tech upgrades got my attention. That's what is holding me out of a CX-50 (well, that, and one larger detail that I'd have to check out myself, and one really small thing that shouldn't bother me, but it does 😉). Just curious--not that I'd ever take something off-road, but how to CVTs fair with off-roading?

  7. Yeah, I wondered who was going to pick that up. It's faster than L2 charging, but that's probably a max of 50kw. That said, the RAV-4 isn't the first PHEV to get fast charging. The Outlander PHEV, the Volvo XC40 Recharge, and the Mini Cooper Countryman ALL4 can do it already.

  8. Dad sent me spy photos of the 2026 Ford F-150 SUB testing south of Miami last week.

  9. Indeed. I was caught in it within the last week. A beautiful flight on a Lufthansa jumbo, defying the jet stream headwind, was going to make Newark in 7.5 hours. Cruising at 600 mph if going west is almost amazing. However, we then circled over the Hudson River Valley for almost an hour. Cloudy outside, too. I will now avoid that hub and try to use IAH-Houston Bush if on United if possible. Big Texas skies. I have a lot of respect for ATC folks. They have so much on their plates.

  11. Nissan will be on the chopping block. The world automotive market will change dramatically in the next ten years. My kind of road trip.

  12. I'll have to give a listen. I would imagine. Two words say it all: Mary Richardson (Kennedy). I learned of this in the last 6 months or so. This is what I refer to when Americans, and others, should NOT forget and forgive easily.

  14. Good afternoon: Is this one ugly s.o.b. or what? (Not political.) It's all those years of "clean living " - - - - - I found this under RFK Jr. laser eyes ... like something out of the "Twilight Zone."

  15. A Deville Concours. These were rare when new and rarer now. These were the high end version that came with the more powerful northstar and magnaride. Concours got all the new suspension tech through this generation as it came out.

  16. I flew a couple weeks ago from CLE to DEN, since I have TSA Pre and Clear it was pretty easy. But I really don't enjoy flying very much these days. Flying again in August.. to DFW for work.
