  1. No, this was directed at the creator of this thread. Simply saying it is from Reuters is not enough.
  2. QUIT STEALING ARTICLES WITHOUT CITING THE SOURCE VIA A LINK! http://today.reuters.com/business/newsarti...7&imageid=&cap=

BV, you shouldn't post your number on a public forum. That isn't safe.

You don't know the whole story and you should withold judgment. You have no idea what they'd been through. Why do you think they looted the electronics? Obviously they weren't intending to set them in their living rooms and turn on CNN like the rest of America...chances are they looted to SELL IT and get money, most of which they either never had, or what little they had had was lost in the storm. Did you not see the incredible police brutality in NOLA? Obviously not...if you heard the cops were coming around and beating innocent people to death, you'd prolly shoot at them too if you saw one approaching you.You seem to have a disturbing lack of compassion for these people...and I really don't know why. I guess they're just fine as long as they are flashing you and giving you beads at Mardi Gras, but heaven forbid they ever suffer any hardship of their own...

I wouldn't worry about it too much...there really isn't anything to do at this point. It's good you said your mom took it better than you expected; women generally accept it more easily than men/fathers. At this point, just lay low for a little bit, and try talking to them. The one thing you MUST MUST MUST remember is that if they are insensitive, it isn't because they don't love you anymore...but that they just don't understand. Direct them to http://pflag.org . There's a lot of information on that site for them. Just play it by ear; you can do it!

The biggest problem with NOLA was the lack of maintenance of the flood control measures. If DONE RIGHT, as in the levees built REALLY well, and an annual maintenance fund is established so it is less of a financial shock when the levees need rehabilitation...I don't see why NOLA cannot be rebuilt for the most part. Again, it wasn't the hurricane that destroyed it, but the apathy toward the levees. I bet you the Dutch maintain their levees...
  8. I've only seen parts of the first season, but I love it. The "Eating Disorder" episode was great.
  9. I couldn't see it; I was at the Lingerie Bowl watching those sexy girls get viscious.
  10. Did they blast the interior? The dash plastic is gross. And it is short on some key features.
  11. i like it...I think...
  12. The iPod only hurts your ears if you have the volume cranked up. I don't, so it doesn't bother them. If you stop listening to music and have a ringing in your ears, then you just messed em up.

Mmmmmmmmm that sounds tasty right about now...
  14. ...because this "uppity outsider" was just being facetious Seriously, dispense with the namecalling. STAT! I don't appreciate it and find it quite immature.
  15. Heh, I was being facetious. American English is such a hodge-podge it bears little resemblence to British English...and that just gives it more character.
  16. Like yes way!
  17. Nope...I agree if America didn't have these regional verbal idiosyncrasies it would be VERY boring. And we wouldn't be able to laugh at that one woman..."EVERYTHING'S DORKSIDED!!"
  18. HAHA the "like" thing. I do that sometimes, mainly when I'm hyper. I think it's funny when people use "all" in the same context, like: "So she's all I have raging herpes and I'm all you need to go put some ointment on it, STAT!"
  19. No, but it does guarantee that you are not butchering the English language. :AH-HA_wink:
  20. Uhhhhhh...I wouldn't base what you think you know about me on a star sign...Most people tell me I act like an Aquarius, since my birthday is near the end of Capricorn...but...ocn's right on the whole thing. It's so universal that it's almost always true. And when it isn't directly true, it's metaphorically true, or whatever...If you really want to find something that works, something with real psychology behind it, check out some books on the Enneagram. That might actually give you some real insight into the breakup as it deals with internal motivations and how these motivations are expressed through the various personality types. Russ Hudson and Don Riso have several on this subject, and I find them to be very good.
  21. Haha I didn't pick up on the joking in the post. Oops
  22. Look, everyone, it's ocn's namecalling again! Ocn's a meathead.
  23. NOS, you are now forbidden to talk anything but "valley girl" I can do a nice Texas drawl, though I need to go to the South a little more to perfect my Southern accent. I can do Canadian, Minnesotan, California Coastal (sometimes), I'm decent at Irish, New Englander? Piece of cake.

Back on topic..."Wedding Crashers" is my favorite of the bunch, though I must have missed "Slutty Summer" as I've never heard of it until now. Apparently the "Uncorked" DVD release has a bit more character development in it that was cut from the original release, though I haven't seen it yet. Let me know how you enjoy it. Easily one of the best movies of last summer IMO.
