    Guess the flood gates have started to open on recalls now that Honda, Mazda, Nizzan and Toyota have issued major recalls over airbags from Takata industry. http://www.nbcnews.com/business/autos/honda-mazda-nissan-recall-vehicles-over-takata-airbags-n138166 This will for sure take some pressure off GM as people focus on their autos that do not have a working airbag. Nothing like having 6 million autos that have exploding airbags that will not protect you. wow.

    WOW, Looking at the auto selling companies web site pictures, the attention to detail on this E. A. auto is amazing for the time. Too bad he could not get it down to being at least a break even project. I am sure the Big three at the time did all they could to snuff his auto dreams out. Much like they did for the Tucker Torpedo.

    I love the thought provoking discussion that is evolving on this thread. I felt strongly that this new product from Harley and their road show this summer will be one to watch and see how people respond. So the road show will start in NY this week and by the end of the week be in Milwaukee and then onto Boston next week and then Philly. Seems they are rolling out 4 stops at a time on the web site but be interested to see if this makes it to the west coast or to at least cities where C&G members could ride it and check it out.

    Here I have to disagree with you in regards to noise, the one thing I have come to HATE about Harley is their open loud exhaust that is not needed and OFFENDS more ears than it pleases. Just because the company was building junk they got the gov to give them an exception to emissions rules and required mufflers that everyone else has to have. Not only are they way too loud on normal suburban streets but in the cities their noise bounces off the tall buildings creating even more NOISE POLLUTION. While I have not heard these bikes, what Harley has released about them is that they do make a noticeable hum that I bet they have tuned to be a specific recognizable sound. With Harley always having saddle bags, I can easily see this bike all over cities being used for delivery duties of small packages, letters, etc. I can also see this being very popular with the High-Tech crowd that wants a 21st Century bike to ride to and from work. Yes the old Viatname / Korean war crowd will not like it, but then they can keep the old out of date shaking to pieces noisy Harleys and the rest of us will welcome the 21st century E bike.

A company known for its big loud touring bikes and iconic brand plans to become a leader worldwide in developing technology and standards for electric vehicles. At an invitation only event in New York, Harley will show off its handmade demonstration models. The company will then take the bikes on a 30-city tour to allow people to test drive the bikes and provide feedback. This tour will allow Harley to refine the bike so its engineers can plan to bring it to market over the next few years. Risky is an understatement since no market exists for full size electric bikes. The market is almost exclusively driven by scooters and low powered bikes in Asian countries like China. Yet these investments by a well-know icon could very well create demand. Regardless of immediate demand, the long term potential for Harley should be a win no matter what. The LiveWire bike is expected to sell on performance more than environmental awareness or what is called the green factor. The sporty bike can go from 0 to 60 in approximately 4 seconds with no need to shift gears. Like a jet airplane taking off, the engine is silent except for the meshing of gears which emits a hum. The lead engineer Jeff Richlen states, “People get on thinking Golf Cart and get off thinking Rocket Ship.” Hurdles for the company are the current battery pack lasts about 130 miles and takes up to 1hr to recharge. Hitting the highway will likely frustrate riders for road trips due to the short range and long recharge time. Harley does see this as an outstanding suburban and city commuter bike.     I totally agree with you on Audi, a coworker I work with daily has one and it seems to be in the shop 50% of the time. Drove in it and the CTS V is a superior ride and auto compared to the Audi performance line.

    I have test drove the ELR along with the VOLT and they are Night and Day different beast and I agree with you the inside is so nice you cannot compare the two. The ELR beats the CLA's hands down as a superior car and superior interior.

    You must live in a special market as Mercedes and BMW over 100K sell side by side with Chevy, Ford, Buicks. I have not seen them hold higher resell values like what you state. In regards to repairs, the average tune up on BMW and MB runs 1500 compared to 500 for a cadillac and others. The one thing I hear all the time from coworkers is how much they complain about the cost of maintenance and repairs. When you compare them to Cadillac or even Infiniti and Lexus, BMW and MB are at the top in regards to repairs and maintenance. I have to assume this is one reason they tend to cover all maintenance now for the first 50K miles but then so does cadillac and others.

    Would rather own a CTS V as the cost of maintenance, repairs, etc would still be considerably less than either the over priced and over rated M5 or E63. The M3 is superior in many ways to the M5.

    Your are right Balthazar, I did not say "Brand New", Still having my 2004 SRX with V6 and having spruced it up, it is going to my parents who need a solid roomy car for getting around in their old age. I have actually been look around for an AWD V8 SRX from the first generation as I love their boxy style, room inside and ease of working on them. Very Solid Reliable Luxury auto!

    New 2014 Police Chargers, all black with no markings other than the lights for Edmond's and Mountlake Terrace Washington. They must have just got them. They were at the local Country Donut place this afternoon, funny to see cops comparing rides. The cities but up against each other.

    I would take a good American auto with a V8 over any of the German turbo 4 bangers or 6 any day. I can expect a low cost maintenance and long life compared to the over priced imagined value of BMW or MB.

    Interesting that this is one of the few times you have a TDI that is priced below the rest of the gas lineup. With Audi's Generic Bland Jelly bean design language, I think they need an update as this will get them a few more sales but not the growth they are thinking. Pricing seems to be inline with this class of car. Better than MB or BMW, that is for sure.

    Awesome, so happy to see they are finally going with this standard and they have done a great job. I think this will only help GM.
