I thought both the Element and Ridgeline were dead products as you cannot find them on the Honda lots here in the Seattle area. Course they never were that popular here.

Two-Mode Hybrid system is $10,000+
G. David Felt replied to Flybrian's topic in Electric Vehicles and Alternative Fuels
Interesting observation, but the hybrids must be pretty damn good as you do NOT see them on the lots as used. I did a search for 500 miles around me and found only 2 hybrids available for sale and yet found dozens of their sister versions for sale. This is what I find strange, why are they not Marketing the Hybrid and bragging about the 22 miles per gallon. This KILLS anything Toyota has in a full size SUV or Pickup Truck! Even BMW and MB cannot touch what a Hybrid Escalade gets and you still have all the luxury and power of that hot V8. -
I think you may have misunderstood. The car is no longer "under recall" after the repair work has been done. If they want to rent or sell the car, no problem, just have the recall work done first. Yup, after rereading the Detroit news story they can rent or sell the auto once it has been fixed, but only Hertz is actually doing it and pledged to do it world wide. Enterprise and Avis are willing to do it for major safety issues but want an exemption for all others as it is a burden on them. What threw me in rereading it is that they only mention this in one place and the rest of the story as well as the legislation just mentions over and over they cannot rent or sell recalled auto's. After rereading the newspaper story and looking at the legislation online, they truly have brought this on themselves.

As much as I hate regulations like this, I agree with Olds, they brought this on themselves. There is way more than enough float on the lots that they should have ALL recalls done within 30 days. There is NO excuse for NOT getting a safety recall done. I feel this is a bit excessive in that they cannot rent or sell a recall vehicle as they should be able to do this once the recall issue is addressed. This law with this stipulation is going to create a grey market where the rental companies are going to either be demanding to return the car back to the OEM and then they will fix it and dump it or we will see shell companies pop up that will deal with unloading recalled auto's.

G. David Felt replied to A Horse With No Name's topic in The Lounge
Very cool, so is the 4 banger running the rear wheels and the v8 up front or the other way around. It is so hard to tell. Any more info on this crazy car? -

Quite true. Now if only he will do something about Opel and Vauxhall. Like toss them both into the bin. I agree that Opel and Vauxhall need major work. I do not agree that we need all the engineering and mgmt resources they have there. I think they need to scale back these groups and focus on getting euro versions of cars that the public wants sooner. I think GM needs to do some major revamping in house for the Euro division.

Look up 'The Shocker' in the urban dictionary (It's a rather NSFW gesture). Was used on a '70s Datsun race car, BTW...2nd time I've seen a refererence to this symbol in the last couple days. OK, Now I know, too funny, found a photo of the Bush family with his daughters and one of them is doing this hand sign. LOL -
You cannot fault a person who is willing to make changes when a person has not fulfilled their goals. I agree that they need to kill off some dead or dying products and get new models to market sooner rather than later. At least change is happening now which is better than the good ol boy network that was killing GM.

ATS Results are in and They are Good Very Good!
G. David Felt replied to hyperv6's topic in Cadillac
America has truly woke up to building driving machines. This allows all modern cars to benefit and even better yet is for those that like projects or has the cash to pay to have it done, it allows us to take our favorite older auto and put a quality suspension and power train under them. Rock on GM powertrain -

Also, why would you want some big ass horns on a beautiful Rolls Royce. I never have understood that mentality either. Course, then it is a Texas thing. Course I do find it funny all those computer fans being used for auto cooling. -

Clearly that guy is a fan of Saints Row 3. I actually like that fascia design. Out of all the cars here, this one is actually done well and is not that bad. Would like to understand the very first picture. What does the hand symbol mean? Never seen it before. Also the caprice, is just crazy. WHY WHY WHY I will never understand what people find to appealing about a car done that way. -
Industry News: Rumorpile: Want A Hummer? Build Your Own!
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
This totally Rocks!!! I know there are people out there that still want these bad boys and being able to buy one minus the engine and tranny is awesome. This allows one to truly have their diesel. -
Gee, what a wonderful assessment/indictment of NASCAR racing. You don't have to like it, but you could at least be a little tolerant and not make nasty (and I do mean nasty and uncalled for) comments about it. Clyde LOL, Sarcasm is hard to write!

Brand New Combustion System -- Future of the Pushrod V8
G. David Felt replied to dwightlooi's topic in Powertrain
Not cold fusion, just a 130 year old engine operating cycle. If you are wondering where the 20/32 mpg comes from, well it's an educated guess based on the following:- The Corvette (3250 lbs) already gets 16/26 mpg today with the 6.2 liter port injected LS3 engine. Direct Injection, Higher Compression and other improvements on the Gen V V8 should produce a 1 mpg improvement An expected 200 lbs reduction in vehicle weight, better aerodynamics and taller gearing is good for another 1 mpg increase We are already at a decent 18 / 28 mpg for a 6.2 liter Gen V V8 with the above changes Now, cylinder deactivation cuts the operating displacement in half, Atkinson cycle further reduces that by 30% and improve energy recovery from each fuel-air charge. The net result should be similar to using a (6.8 / 2 * 0.7) = 2.4 liter 4 cylinder engine on a Corvette, for which a 10~15% reduction in fuel consumption is a reasonable guess. 20/32 mpg is 11% and 14% better than 18/28 MPG respectively. No Cold Fusion required. If your right, you either have an inside line to info or the best damn crystal ball! Time to pull up the chair and wait and see. -
I want to see total recall just for the special affects and I hope the story is good, but so far only 73% on rotten tomatoes says it is ok or good and only 31% of pro reviewers said it was good. More people said the original was good or great and after seeing this remake/reboot they now think even more of the original. If it was not for the special affects and woman in the movie, most said it would have been a flop. Seeing it in a morning showing as it is cheaper that way.

These models should be fully loaded period, these are not option versions. Anyone that wants the best will just pay for a fully loaded performance model.
