VW News: No Volkswagen Plug-In Hybrids Are Coming to the U.S.
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Volkswagen
Very cool, I know some would like to have the plug-in hybrids but honestly with battery tech moving forward so fast, might as well just go full EV for future product lines.- 10 replies

Thanks for the info, for some reason I thought that most posi lock diffs out there were a manual centrifugal force kind, not the electric switch where you can lock up the diff any time you wanted.

Rumorpile: GM May Sell Distribution Rights of Holden
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Heritage Marques
Is it a retreat or a focus on profit markets with a potential relaunch under specific names only in the future with a focused ICE / EV product line. I have been thinking about some of the things Mary has stated and I wonder if she is not long term looking at a global launch of either Buick or Chevrolet with that focused ICE / EV portfolio.- 14 replies

I was thinking both, Electric locking Diff on trucks as well as AWD CUV / SUVs. It would be really nice and beneficial to folks that due use it allot especially in snow states or off road to have them as part of an off-road package.

I wonder if any OEM will ever install electric lockers by default. I know electric hubs have become standard, but it seems having a beefy electric locker which has proven itself by the masses would be awesome so you can just flick a switch and lock up. I would love that.

Rumorpile: GM May Sell Distribution Rights of Holden
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Heritage Marques
Wish them the best, I am sure many hardcore Holden fans want them to return to the history of years past with big V8 powered RWD auto's, sadly the market for that is going away. Future desires by the public change everything.- 14 replies

Had no Idea that these were fully loaded $52K Canadian dollars and they used to have a $14K rebate but that is over now to the North. WOW. Price is a big issue for the car in 2019 to this reviewer and due to the Polar Vortex, it took longer to charge, but over all not a bad auto to the guy.

Saw this Chevy sonic LT in Green and it had a Bolt nose on it, but was sharp looking for a subcompact. Also at the gym was the last generation Buick station wagon in white, very clean and sharp.

Traitor, I thought I had a friend in Hate of Ford! Yea, Ford EV F150 is gonna be da bomb! I can try to love that too!

Agreed, this one is actually nice looking which is rare for Toyota and me. I wish GM would plan stuff like this where they bring out a Z71 or SS set of all models at a show. GM needs to get their planning together to better maximize long term loyalty and sales by offering speed across the whole product line and then offer off road performance across their whole product line. The one here, one there is just so tiring and not well planned. What ever happened to GM Performance? ? Toyota TRD is Killing them!

Saw a New Sienna Mini Van not even with plates on yet that clearly was T-Boned in our current Frozen Snow mess we have here. Totally sucks.

Seems to be a move to counter the Z71 package on the Tahoe. -

I agree, almost as if they are just trying to mimic what GM has already done for their various off road tweaks and give an impression of new but not really new, just a polish job on the existing pig or as they say putting new lipstick on a pig. I feel this is just a response to GM off road packages more than anything to do with the Ranger. Just a different shade of color / LipStick on a pig. ?♂️- 26 replies

Some cool reads I found today: Lowrider culture in Japan: https://jalopnik.com/welcome-to-the-wild-world-of-tokyos-underground-lowride-1826096379 Check out the amazing amount of Land Yachts, mostly GM but some very cool stuff that shows up in the Shibuya district. Very Cool read with plenty of pictures of Snowmobile Model T's. https://jalopnik.com/nothing-says-comfortable-winter-driving-like-snowmobile-1832370924

So far that whole BS argument of Turbo engines are more fuel efficient is just that BS. Once you put your foot into it to create the power they have proven to be thirstier than naturally aspirated motors. I would expect Ford to use this new Beast of a motor in their medium duty line of commercial trucks where it will out last a smaller sized turbo'd gas motor.

True, but the ones on the dealer lots around here like the two I posted above are RWD only. Very weird.

As has been the norm for the last few years in F1 racing with electric assist and an Ultracapacitor for boost of performance, I think we will see this companies products be used in more than just storage, but also in a boost mode feature.

Around here with all the steep hills and mountains and snow, AWD is becoming a standard requirement for many here in the Tech industry. I suspect it was traded in for an AWD or 4x4 ICE auto.

Electrify America buying Tesla Storage for 800V charging systems. This will go into 100 installations this year to support the 800V rapid charging systems. https://www.foxnews.com/auto/volkswagen-backed-electrify-america-buying-tesla-tech-for-charging-stations Seems to get ready for the new Porsche Taycan EV, Electrify America has chosen Tesla power storage systems to help keep costs low by stockpiling off-peak electricity allowing to keep recharge rates low. The 100 re-charging stations with Tesla storage will go into key Porsche markets where the 800V system will charge 60 miles of range in 4 min. This will allow Porsche a key competitor to Tesla P100D or what is now their platinum car to fully recharge in less than 20 min.
