@Robert Hall @trinacriabob @A Horse With No Name OK peeps, where is the story, wait I found it! More pics at the story link. https://fighterjetsworld.com/2018/11/07/boeing-747-400f-suffered-a-runway-excursion-after-landing/ GOOD NEWS: No lobsters were lost, all will make it to China for Dinner. QUOTE: Airport spokesperson Theresa Rath Spicer said the Sky Lease Cargo plane coming from Chicago was making a scheduled landing to pick up live lobster and then fly to China, with a stop in Alaska along the way. Rath Spicer said the lobster was instead picked up by Gateway Aviation to be transported to its destination. This cargo jet was to be loaded with live lobster and head for China, but it went off the runway upon landing. (Steve Lawrence/CBC)

GM who I believe invented and clearly one of the first to use day time running lights has made it standard that you have an off, but the switch moves back to marker. So if you wanted, you can switch the headlights to off but not the marker lights and then turn it one more place to auto. I agree with @balthazar I see no reason for anyone to take them out of auto mode. I suspect as I have learned this weekend that many english as a second language drivers here do not understand that the lights auto turn off after a set time. Driving is a privilege earned and so many around me think it is a right and folks that cannot speak English get a license and a car and never read the owners manual as they do not understand how to read and as such they get in a habit of turning everything off even auto lights. Helped my wife with some Koreans who were shocked to learn you do leave the light switch in the auto mode on. She translated and they were happy to finally understand. After this, I now feel strongly that all those dark auto's truly are people that are ignorant of how the lights work.

Facebook = hell, they have some of the worst virus prone posts ever. I have never had and never will have a facebook account. I would try using one of the free antivirus scanners on your system if you do not have antivirus software. Microsoft posted this: Hi Tammy McIntosh, a) What is the message you get when you log in? b) Is it just the facebook that you are not able to log into? You might want to use Add-on Manager to disable some add-ons and then turn on add-ons only as you need them. This will let you determine which add-on is causing the problem. 1. Click Start Start button , and then click Internet Explorer . 2. Click Tools , and then click Internet Options . 3. Click the Programs tab, and then click Manage add-ons . 4. Click an add-on in the Name list, and then click Disable . 5. Try to view the Web page again to see whether it works correctly. 6. If the Web page works correctly, you know that the add-on caused the problem. If you still cannot view the Web page, the add-on did not cause the problem, and you can enable it again. Also you may Optimize Internet Explorer and check if the issue persists. Follow the steps in the given link to optimize IE. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936213 Azeez Nadeem - Microsoft Support I did find this on Facebook support post: If you find yourself unable to stay logged in to Facebook, the problem may lie with your Internet browser or with Facebook itself. To be sure, troubleshoot your computer and see if it fixes the problem. If the problem is on the Facebook side, though, you may simply need to wait until problems with the site itself are repaired before you can stayed signed in at length. Internet Settings You might experience problems when using Facebook in Internet Explorer if the browser is configured incorrectly, repeatedly signing you out of the site. To change the settings, click "Tools," then click "Internet Options." Click "Security," then click "Custom Level" and look for User Authentication. Select "Automatic Login With Username and Password" and then save your settings and sign in to Facebook again. Troubleshooting Browsers Clearing your saved settings and cookies on your browser may fix the problem with Facebook logging out. Open your browser settings and clear your private data. In Chrome, you can do this from the Settings menu; in Firefox, you can do it from the Options menu. In Internet Explorer, swipe in from the right side of the screen and select "Settings." Click "Options | History | Select | Cookies | Done" to clear the cookies. Sign back into Facebook to see whether the problem is resolved. Remote Logout If someone else has your Facebook password, that person can kick you out of Facebook from a remote computer. If you suspect that another person is logging you out of your account, sign in to Facebook again and end all other active sessions. Click "Settings," then "Account Settings." Click "Security," then "Active Sessions." Close any sessions other than your primary and then reset your password. Site Errors It's possible that you're being logged out of Facebook because the site is experiencing problems. Sign out of your account and wait for awhile before logging back in. If you're still having problems, contact Facebook to alert them to the error with the Consistent Logout Problems form (https://www.facebook.com/help/contact/268228883256323). Choose how often the problem occurs from the drop-down menu and then describe what else is happening when the disconnection occurs in the text box. Submit the form to Facebook when you're done.

My first auto rental was a Lincoln Town car when I lived for a year of hell in Texas. My parents came to visit and I needed an easier auto to get into than my lifted wrangler.

Autoblog story In an effort to save automobile production jobs from the shift away from ICE auto's, Germany has earmarked a $1 billion Euros or about $1.2 Billion US dollars in a push to protect local jobs and reduce alliance on outside country battery production. Many in the industry say it is too late as they are too far behind in the current battery technology. Germany says it will focus on Solid State batteries as LG Chem with battery production in Poland and Samsung with battery production in Hungary are the main suppliers to the big German 3 auto suppliers. Boston Consulting Group believes that battery cell production capacity will exceed demand by 40 percent in 2021, due to massive new production coming online in Japan, China and Korea as well as around the world. The flip side of the BCG excessive supply is McKinsey & Company that says as all automakers ramp up EV production, it should outstrip supply by 2022. The battery R&D plus production is a big push by the German government that says building electric auto's take less time and less positions due to a reduction in complexity. This will lead to reduced jobs on the assembly line as automation continue to expand. Germany's VDA auto industry association says that Germans ban on ICE auto's by 2030 threatens 436,000 jobs in Germany that will just disappear from car companies and their suppliers. Germany is pushing to expand the battery alliance to protect European jobs from Asian battery companies. Just changing EV sales to 10 to 20 percent of production in the coming years will require over 100 gigawatt hours of battery production that is currently not available yet above the planned capacity by Asian producers especially in China. Europe also says as they push R&D to develop solid state batteries, this will remove the need for rare earth elements making the process cleaner and safer for all. The uphill battle is is underlined by the world's biggest automotive suppliers, Bosch which has made it clear they are focusing on everything else in an EV except lithium-ion cells as it will be too costly to try and compete with the asian and american companies already developing them.

Autoblog Ural Review Story Lets get the details out of the way first for the Bike riders. 60 Horsepower 81 pound-feet of torque weight 822 lbs top speed 88 mph Range 103 miles per charge on the 19.5 kWh battery pack Recharge time 13 hours on a 110 wall outlet Now Ural sells bikes here in America and while some here might say what a wimpy electric motor, the electric bike is very fast as the ICE bikes only have 41 HP and 42 lb-ft of torque. So the EV is a big gain over traditional ICE bikes. To quote the CEO, this bike accelerates very quickly from a hard launch for a Ural. Currently these bikes are being developed here in Washington.

During the Summer tour of the LiveWire concept that looked different than the production bike, they had a 110 mile distance and could accept DC fast charging. There have been comments that the battery density will increase in the production bike due to the latest battery technology. If so, then I could see 150 mile range on these bikes which I think will be enough for many riders initially.

Trade wars can be good if approached in a professional way. Sadly the bully on the playground approach is Hurting US consumers, Hurting US Jobs and the wages of US citizens. Long term, less money in your pocket to buy stuff.

Welcome Tyler, Great to have you join Cheers and Gears. Awesome truck you have, look forward to seeing pictures when you get a chance. Wide diverse group of truck, car, SUV/CUV fans here with great debates on the auto industry. Look forward to your participation on the forum. Again, Welcome

I think Toyota could cut half their car models and still do very well here. Today, at the tail end of dusk when it is almost solid black, I saw so many toyota cars, cuvs and trucks with no lights on. I honestly do not understand how someone can drive with no lights on when it is almost pitch black. Toyota drivers are the 2nd worst right behind BMW drivers. MB drivers are a solid 3rd.

@Robert Hall @ykX @Drew Dowdell Finally HD released a current video of the production Livewire and you can hear their patented sound. I have to say that baby boomers wanting their loud ear hurting sound will probably not like this, but I can see a ton of 20 to 50 year olds who would like it. I truly think this will bring in a new generation of riders to the HD family.

VW News: Rumorpile: Volkswagen's Sub-20,000 Euro Electric Car
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Volkswagen
Moving EV production to Emden would also help to lower cost. The German Unions are killing profitable auto building in Germany as the cost of labor is crazy high. I just hope we see these EVs in the US too and not just Europe and China.- 4 replies

@ykX @Robert Hall I am excited by the HD Livewire bike. Very cool for them and I truly hope it does pull in the younger crowd as like Robert stated, the pool of baby boomers is getting smaller and smaller and people are not wanting the open pipe loud noise bike. I do love the actual working bike on the home page of the EICMA trade show that has clear connection to the light bike in Tron. That would be fun to ride and see how it handles. I am also amazed at how many electric bikes are coming out. GM getting into the electric pedestrian bike is cool I think. https://media.gm.com/media/us/en/gm/home.detail.html/content/Pages/news/us/en/2018/nov/1102-ebike.html

I have seen that too at Evergreen Speedway here that the bulk of the auto's hauling the race cars are Escalades, Navigators, Yukon XL or Suburbans. I doubt anyone driving a Mercedes benz would be seen at these venues.
