GM News: Q3 2018 - GM Posts $2.5 Billion Profit
G. David Felt replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in General Motors
And as I have stated as have others, I have a spouse to satisfy and while I would have been happy to buy a Bolt, as more options come on the market, I will end up buying as to why I do not have a car payment or am buying any ICE auto. I am waiting for more EV options. Might look tight from that photo, but until your actually sitting inside, it is amazing how much room there is. 100% disagree since a single person he has no one to please other than himself. I have a spouse to keep happy as to why I have not bought anything new since 2008. 10 years and waiting for more EV options. -

GM News: Q3 2018 - GM Posts $2.5 Billion Profit
G. David Felt replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in General Motors
You seem to be ignoring just like Detroit did in the 70's to Asian auto building that China is now setting the standard and with China and Europe having followed that Hybrids / EV is the future, build at your own peril or death. GM knows where their future is and that is in China not the US. We get left overs and as has been stated, sales of BOLT are taking off around the world. Selling more than they can produce so that they are adding a shift and exporting the Bolt to markets that want to buy the auto. The US is now a follower of the world due to poor leadership and your wanting GM to die rather than innovate and provide what the world markets are dictating. Follow the Money Biff, otherwise you will be left far behind! Unlike the current idiots that suck up to the oil companies here in the US still Ignoring the people and giving out Billions in so called R&D tax dollars to these same billion dollar profit oil companies that should not be getting our tax dollars and should go to paying off the debt, stabilizing our SS / Medicaid benefits? -

Actually the door does close just fine and I am not crunched up or sardine tight. The interior is bigger than you realize. -
I doubt very much that this car drives like a Corolla or a Camry.

Not a fan of the Yaris look, makes it look even cheaper as a car. Thank you for the details on the back seat about headroom and legroom. Always good to know. Have to totally agree with you that for that price the cheap ass hard plastic interior and weird over all dash design I think is a loosing statement for this car. It almost tells me that Toyota WANTS this Hybrid to fail in sales so they can kill it off. Weird!

Are you talking about the BOLT? If so, I can tell you it has plenty of head, shoulder, hip and leg room in the back seat even when I set it for me sitting in front of my self. -
Jalopnik has this story that Acura has the only American Supercar factory. https://jalopnik.com/inside-the-only-supercar-factory-in-america-1830088702 If looking at North America, you have the Ford GT plant in Toronto, Corvette ZR1 supercar plant in the US, past plants were the Viper plant and what about all those super fast EV plants.

Mopar's New Hellephant 426 HEMI Makes the Demon Seem Quaint
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in S.E.M.A
This motor is pure profit I think for FCA at this point since the bulk of engineering went into it for other models already sold with the engine detuned. I know this crate motor is in this lovely carbon fiber ride I posted in the random section. SpeedKore did this engine proud with their modern update to this old charger. I am happy to see this kind of work going on as we move forward with the Hybrid / EV generation.- 3 replies

GM News: Q3 2018 - GM Posts $2.5 Billion Profit

That is awesome, clearly they are doing it right in the profit department. I am excited for this auto show season to see what new EVs GM brings to market. -
The purest will always want everything 100% OEM. Yet the modernist in me says bring the undercarriage of the auto to the 21st century and enjoy those lovely curves modern style. I agree with @Robert Hall that the modern under body they built with the drive train for this car would make it handle exceptionally well compared to the creaky horror of it's day. ?♂️

Totally agree, while being cool to see, I have never been a fan of the rusted look. Rather it be cleaned and painted in a lovely color. Though I suspect they wanted the rusted look to shock people as an ultimate sleeper to more modern cars. Yet even painted and looking sharp like what you posted would have still shocked anyone when the awesome electric power train left the modern car in the dust.

WOW, Honda has realized the lack of GOV investment in our roads requires something more rugged than the Honda accord can handle. Welcome to MAD MAX SEMA edition!

Sharp from the picture above, it should find sales with that info. Be interesting to see how many sales in a CUV market.

Imagine using the space between the wheels for that 800V battery pack, equal to Porsche and dropping in the 700HP / 600 lb-ft of torque motor in my Suburban. Muttangs eat your heart out! -

Have to say, this made me look at the Media Center and WOW, some awesome Camaro stories: Some great old cars with modern crate motors. https://media.chevrolet.com/media/us/en/chevrolet/home.detail.html/content/Pages/news/us/en/2018/oct/sema/1016-chevelle-crate.html The 2019 Camaro shock is very cool. https://media.chevrolet.com/media/us/en/chevrolet/home.detail.html/content/Pages/news/us/en/2018/oct/sema/1016-camaro-shock.html The new 2019 COPO Camaro is also cool, but WOW talk about hard to see out the glass on this. https://media.chevrolet.com/media/us/en/chevrolet/home.detail.html/content/Pages/news/us/en/2018/oct/sema/1029-copo.html Course the eCOPO Camaro is very cool and I see they do have a look at the engine bay. WOW, talk about throwing ICE hard cores for a loop. https://media.chevrolet.com/media/us/en/chevrolet/home.detail.html/content/Pages/news/us/en/2018/oct/sema/1029-e-copo.html I am sure @ocnblu will come in here and down vote everyone / everything and hate on all things EV. -

AWESOME eCOPO and Crate Electric Motors with an 800 Volt battery pack like what Porsche is doing will open up the doors wide to cleaner, less noisy racing. That would be awesome! Hopefully they will post pictures of the engine bay and battery pack. -
Have to say that Sema 2018 should be amazing this year. I love this story of this custom SpeedKore Charger that will be shown. https://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/sema/sema-2018-–-speedkore-evolution-charger-is-a-muscle-car-masterpiece/ar-BBP5O9t?li=BBnb7Kz&fullscreen=true#image=14 Has a 966HP SRT Demo Motor, as one can tell by the picture above, they faithfully built every body panel and the core body out of carbon fiber for a lightweight 3,200lbs total weight as you see it with 966 Rear Wheel HP. I have to agree, this is a Muscle Car Masterpiece. Wonder how much the body cost to build? ?

I liked this view of that engine. Very cool history on this monster engine. Thank you for posting it. https://airandspace.si.edu/collection-objects/packard-1a-2775-x-24-engine

Lately, I have noticed a ton of Honda's driving at late dusk with no lights on and you can barely see them. Last night a grey or near black Honda with no lights on around 7pm as the last wisps of light dropped from the sky almost hit me. I flashed the guy as did others and the moron just kept driving with no lights on period. Weird that it is mostly Asian auto's I see with no lights on late at dusk going into the evening. Why they think it is safe is mind boggling.

Kia News: Kia Reveals A New Subcompact Crossover is Coming to U.S.
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Kia
Kia should give Toyota, Chevrolet, etc. a run for some money once they have the right CUV mix as they clearly kill it on pricing and warranty.
