In this whole process the gf and I are looking at an old building that is way larger than what we need and I'm worried our gas/electric bills will make it more unaffordable than the building/house itself. We'd be buying it dirt cheap for the size and completely remodeling everything but it's freakin 5000sqft. Is there any way to estimate what that would cost to heat/cool that bastard?

I have to believe they respond like the stupid button I have in my Escape.. and it's dog$h!, IMO. It's nice to have..i guess.. But if those paddles respond anything like my Escape then they are just a waste.

Where??? I know a couple hours past stl heading south you can run into some mountains and that would be fun but my side of the river.. flat.

I think we knew from the get go that it would be in no-man's land. It's the only "performance" oriented mainstream mid size sedan so that alone puts it in company of 1. I do see what you mean in compromised in both sport and "lux" and not the greatest at either. I think that attribute would make it a very enjoyable daily driver(especially when somebody offers a nice tune for it.) . At least here where the roads all suck anyway...

Nice, good to hear. I too am about the de-chroming. The buddy I have with the mk6 GTI put a tune on his a few months back and love it. He said from a roll he was side by side with a 370Z up till about 100mph. I don't know much about the Z's but I would have to believe stock for stock they're fairly different.

Sounds easy enough.. I'll have to put the ole thinkin' cap on.

Bump so I actually see it... I don't know how/why these get shuffled so far down so quickly on my screen.

Chevrolet News:2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV To Start At $37,495

I mean I can see his point but does regenerative braking make the batteries last longer? Like the life of the batteries.. But you are right in the sense that a lot of people buying hybrids/EVs are living in closer quarters and that's one reason the bought them in the first place. -
@dfelt Hey I wasn't sure where to post this so I figured this will be a decent place for now at least.. I'm looking at houses and considering electricity prices/costs and my local city(town, really) for "residential service" charges 0.0744 per kwh. How is that..? And I mean like.. is that good, bad, average? This is all of the information I see. I was hoping to find a breakdown by peak, off peak hours. http://www.highlandil.gov/Public_Documents/HighlandIL_LightPower/Electric_Rates I'll add @Drew Dowdell as well because..well.. you work in the industry! lol Thanks, guys! Ps. I can also start a thread if this becomes a "hot" topic.

Chevrolet News:Chevrolet Surprises Everyone With 2018 Equinox

While I am genuinely glad that it has worked out for you I would think the option of folding flat and if you need it angled up some you can throw blankets or something under there would be better as a whole. I've folded mine flat only a couple of times but I think flat would be more beneficial in most cases. I guess it also depends on how close to flat they are. I know the older vehicles that had folding rear seats really just leaned up against the front two seats. So even if they don't fold perfectly flat they're all pretty close now, I'd assume.- 45 replies

There was something I read a couple weeks ago that GM just placed an order for 1000 more of these to their plant in Australia. Maybe there is a wicked shortage right now. supposedly it was their largest single order placed.

Yeah that 10spd really helps it put more power down.. *rolls eyes* A car with this broad of a torque curve and power band it could be a 3 spd and not have problems. Maybe you aren't but there is never enough V8 horsepower! 3525lbs w/ 650hp/650tq or 3625lbs w/ 503hp. Which one sounds 'better'? The AMG GT S might be a beautiful car but the Vette has it's number. I'd wager the Grand Sport would run circles around the AMG GT S let alone the Z06 or upcoming ZR1. I know it isn't a fair comparison but the Grand Sport beat the McLaren 570 around a lap at Lightning Lap and the AMG GT S was slower than the 570 at Best Driver's Car.

Chevrolet News:Chevrolet's Colorado ZH2 Isn't Like Any Colorado Before
ccap41 replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
Do you honestly think they haven't/aren't looking at other options? Do you think they made a phone call to GM and said, "Build us a Colorado to run off of hydrogen." Or the more likely scenario where they said what they needed out of a vehicle, and all of the supporting characteristics, and GM went hydrogen thinking it was the best for the given requirements. I think it's a little oblivious to think the government isn't looking into EV's for themselves. I don't know if hydrogen powered vehicles require the computers quite like an EV does but maybe they're trying to keep them from being hacked? If there's a computer, it can get hacked. That's why I said I don't know as much about hydrogen powered vehicles but it's just an idea. -

I didn't realize the Volt was shared with anything. I thought it was just it's own purpose built EV/Hybrid. It's definitely been more beneficial that my seats fold flat than if they didn't fold flat. It might help in some rare situations but it's hard to believe somebody would want them to be angled more often than flat. It's easier to throw a blanket under the seat to keep it angled than to want it flat and you just can't.- 45 replies

Chevrolet News:2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV To Start At $37,495
ccap41 replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
There also hasn't been much need for them to advance and be produced at such a high rate until very recently. Even if they stayed the same exact price that would be a reduced price with inflation. I don't think they will "plummet" but if they dropped at all comparing to inflation that's a good amount of cost to owner difference. I just read on the Prius Prime that they cut the price $3,000 from the outgoing plug-in Prius. If you don't think a fair amount of that came from reduced battery costs then you're nuts. The Chevy Volt's msrp in 2013 was $33,500 and the new one for 2017 is CHEAPER at $33,220. The 2013 battery is a 16.5 kWh and the 2017 is 18.4 kWh battery. Lower msrp, larger battery. I know there are a million and one other factors that go into an entire car's msrp but I think it is fairly safe to say that they are being produced at a lower cost to the manufacturers. -
That's kind of how I see it. I would(and will when I have a home of my own) seriously consider a Volt and I guarantee you I'd be one of those people getting 200+mpg because I don't do a ton of driving so a 50 mile daily range and nightly charge would suit me perfectly. At my yearly average of right around 12,000 miles that's only about 33 miles driven a day. I'd say on average there's only one day a week that I really drive over 50 miles anyway. And exactly like you said, no care in the world because of the gasoline engine/generator for when I do travel long distances to visit my sister or vacationing.

I'll be honest, I've never heard a single person complain about the smell of gasoline when pumping gas. I'm not saying it isn't a thing, I've just never heard of it other than you Mr. Felt. -
What's the difference? It might be a brand but all that it is, a high end trim level like a Lincoln Black Label. Except it will probably be executed better lol.
-
Very good point. They might be stealing some of their own customers. Whatever brings in the dollars!
-
It seems odd to call it a brand when it's a trim level. Regardless it seems like it has the ability to possibly take Buick to the next level and that's exciting. "Buick Avenir will be made...as a trim level instead of a car" AutoBlog

I never really thought about using the Power Wall for use like this. I knew the intentions were to use stored energy for the peak hours but I didn't even think of charging on the down time and not strictly a solar setup for the charging. I love the ideas of all of this stuff it just seems like you better be living in the home for 20 years to really get a payoff. I also never realized that washer/drier/dishwasher timers could and are used like that. Ignorant me... -

This is cool! Do you know if those schedules are done from the charger or from the car then? Like, do I set the car up to only accept charge from X:00 - XX:00? That is very cool, indeed.
