  1. No worries. I realized that I didn't clarify my remark which is why I followed up with a screenshot of the Denali in question. It's all good.
  2. And that is why Maybach has been a huge fail in this country. Everyone with that kind of cash saw for what they were, a stretched out S Class.
  3. I am referring to the Yukon only since he made the Tahoe reference. Guess I need to be more specific even though the reply was directly to SMK who made the Tahoe reference in the first place. Why the pick ups are different is beyond silly to me.
  4. It is more than just trim. It also comes with the 6.2L found in the Escalade. It is a similiar formula used by all Luxo makes including your Benz.
  5. Just the shape of the top of the dash reminds me of the shapes Buick used in the late 80s in to the early 90s. That just looks hideous to me.
  6. And? The production model is no better unless you prefer the 80s Buick dash look.
  7. Yes because this just screams high class from Mercedes. Who designed the dash and cluster for that? Ray Charles?
  8. Sorry but one top level trim car does not make it the car "world class". Yes, they are quick, and I glad you clarified that (regarding the performance) but that is about all they have going for them (especially the Cobalt). Fact is that the HHR lineup overall is anything but "world class" when it takes a top level trim car like the SS to even get rear disc brakes. Again, I'm not saying it's a bad car overall. My wife's has been a good little car but it hasn't been without its little issues (mostly electrical). These were all things that were pretty easy for me to fix but many of them should not have happened in the first place. For all of it's performance, the SS suffers from many of the same electrical issues. Again, just my opinion. And yes, the Europe situation is just a mess.
  9. As someone who's wife currently owns an HHR LT (the 2.4L), I have to disagree with your "world class cars" assessment. A decent car with a decent engine and cargo room? Yes. World class? Not even close (electrical gremlins abound). I do agree with your handling reference but Opel has been very useful (see Buick) for GM and does make them money in other areas, even though they struggle with actual European sales. Just my opinion though.
  10. $39K is cheap for a Benz, especially after your "if it isn't $70K, it isn't luxury" remark. And please, stop dismissing your own product. You made the claim, not even a year ago, about the success of the CLA and how it helps get people in the door who otherwise might not consider MB. You also do realize that their are many wealthy people other than ballers and rappers right (and no I am not talking about celebrities either)? This folks don't touch overpriced status symbols on a forty year old chassis and that is a simple fact. The fact is that the G is MBs Rube car and you'd have to be one to pay $500K for that mess.
  11. Who gives a crap about the price of that dressed up box? All it proves is that Mercedes is better at selling to ballers and rappers than Cadillac, because that's all I ever see in those acient boxes. BTW, you talk about cheap being the reason for the competitions success but you completely side step and avoid the fact that MBs success is also due to their cheap models like the CLA, GLA, and C Class. And as Drew pointed out, the average buyer (including Benz buyers) could care less about V8s and whether a CUV is FWD or RWD. Those five people that want a V8 in a tiny CUV/SUV with no real purpose other than show how quick they can run one into a concrete retainer wall can have them. Darwin Award winners.
  12. Thanks. I have it on there now but I need to find a trim bezel to cover my little cutting mistake, which was done with a reciprocating saw (really should have used a Drexel with a grinder disc but I do not have one of those at home). I also discovered I will have to replace the entire antenna due to Toyotas insistence on hardwiring theirs straight into the head unit instead of a simple plug like everyone else on the planet uses. The lessons learned.
  13. Yeah, just got done with the plastic trim and I'm going to plead the fifth on the cutting part . It is not my strongest suit and I did shank a corner. Hopefully with a little sanding and finding the right trim bezel, I can cover that mess up. Now I need to check eBay for a storage pocket to put in place of the original stereo.
  14. Phase one: installation complete Next up: Custom cut the plastic I had to take off, in order to install a double DIN, and hopefully have a nice new fit around it.
  15. I plan on it. I was looking for a single DIN with Bluetooth but we didn't have anything I like at the shop and then we pulled a nice double DIN pioneer and it had me curious. I pulled the factory CD player out (which is a detached unit from the main deck if you ever seen an old RAV4) and noticed that it had plenty of space behind it. I have to take the plastic trim off and cut it out to accommodate the radio but I have to figure out what to do with the cig lighter attached to it and relocate it somewhere else. Looking forward to seeing if I can do this without trashing it lol.
  16. Well, I get to see if I can do a little creative installation by putting in a double DIN stereo in my little RAV4 since the 21 year old factory radio finally took a dump on me.
  17. @dfelt--Very good information btw and glad to see that the gas has subsided lol.
  18. Not a problem on my end. He has now made this an issue on two unrelated threads so I offered a simple rebuttal. Someone needs therapy me thinks.
  19. As I said, MB CURRENTLY has as many as Cadillac. They also are planning on more as well. Guess you forgot that little fact. http://www.carscoops.com/2013/07/mercedes-benz-looking-to-expand-range.html So new leather and a few LED screens on a forty year old model is considered "luxurious"? Again, most people that are not wannabe ballers or pseudo rappers prefer a real luxury and MODERN SUV and the proof is in the sales numbers.
  20. Cadillac currently has only two FWD cars while Mercedes actually has as many if not more so what "logic" are you actually trying to prove here? Keep trying to move that bar to suit your purpose though. It's certainly gotten you this far lol.
  21. Yet they sell tons of them so obviously it is not pointless, but your assertion is. Also your first sentence is purely opinion, purely. This is why an honest discussion can't be had. You will slam anything from the domestics while praising Benz, even when the problems are essentially the same if not worse for Benz.
  22. But Lexus has far more models under $70K than over it. Your imaginary comparison just doesn't fly. And Buick gets compared to Lexus all the time. The LaCross has been spanking the ES in comparors for years now.
  23. That it would. What most of these fools don't realize is that a lot of parts and cars made there are bound for many other countries other than the US.
