Chevrolet News:2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV To Start At $37,495
surreal1272 replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
Sorry but I save money every time I change my own oil (and I do) and having an EV would be a huge plus towards me not having to worry about it ever again. No changing the oil or taking time out of my day to have someone else do it (because time is money and more important to me). -

And even mentioning little things like a cord being left out is beyond reaching. Gosh! What if I forget to hang the fuel pump hose? -

No they sure don't because you made this about yourself from the get go. I stand by my statement. The topic is still being discussed btw but you must be running out of ammunition to make a comment like that. One last thing. You tried to make it about me the other day with your "you're wrong and I think just afraid to admit it" post but let's just ignore that little double standard and get back to the topic. The Bolt is a great first step for GM in the true EV realm and hopefully it can gain some traction in the market. -

Makes a post about eighty people dying mining for that EV power (to prove whatever point he is trying to make) yet says others are talking in extremes. He then says he will not blow smoke up any automakers rear like others do. Hmmmmm I see some things never change. Volumes? Let's see. Ten thousand batteries for cars a month versus the millions of batteries made for phones sold a month. That's a hard one figure out there (obvious sarcasm). -

It's like he conventionally forgets the wars started for oil and the number of people killed for it. Simply baffling the cherry picking going on here. You are also right on the money where brand is concerned. This is all about who is releasing said car because if it had a blue oval on it, the story would be completely different. -

So you agree that you were spreading FUD about rates and volatility vs gas and that the only problem is the upfront cost of an EV. Thanks for confirming that because the evidence was becoming pretty damning against you. This and then some! -

Actually I don't have to admit anything because there's nothing to admit. I'm right because that was what I pointed out to you the other day. Fact. For on peak hours, the rate goes up but does not fluctuate. The same goes for off peak which reiterates my earlier point. It is much easier to control your electrical usage than it is for gas. Let me put it another way. Plain and simple for you, I can charge up a Bolt cheaper than I can put 250 miles worth of gas in my car, even during peak hours. Here's the other scenario that you continually ignore because you are hyper focused on a singular point. Let me lay it out for you. When a pipeline bursts in Texas, prices immediately go up in NC. If the entire state of Texas loses electricity, it does not make the electrical rates go up in NC (or even Texas for that matter). Electrical rates are far more regulated in most states and are less volitale to environmental factors than gas and that is a simple fact passed on to me by a father with over forty years in the power industry (Duke Energy). Knowing all this, it is not debatable which is cheaper to run. It is you that needs to admit that you are making the wrong argument because of your failure to see ALL the points to this. -

Yeah. What do I know. I've just been reading electric bills for years and know exactly how and what I'm being charged by three different power companies in two states. In other words, you are wrong. -
Cadillac News: Cadillac Offers Buyouts To Their Smallest Dealers
surreal1272 replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
This because its sales 101. This is a long overdue move by GM. If the small dealers can't keep up with the changes then it is better to just buy them off and put those resources into the larger dealerships. -
I agree. This is just another example of the useless one up. Would your average customer not buy this type of truck if none of them got above 600ft/lbs of torque? I don't think you but constantly upping these numbers make for great marketing hype.

Stop with the dramatics because you know exactly what I was talking about and me bringing it up is simply an acknowledgment, not a double standard as you are implying here. I only pointed out what you used as an example of "over priced" and if you know they are all overpriced, why bring up the example of one car not once but twice. Good grief. And negative vote all you want because you made a false assumption about my post. That's the perfectly mature thing to do when you are wrong This is why i hat I stopped talking to some of the children around here.

This is not news though. All of them are jacked up these days. Why only one was singled out (not once but twice) I haven't the foggiest.

Easy to do when you load it up with $12K in options (just as equally easy to do with any Mustang that's not the V6 since it apparently doesn't deserve any real options).

They don't swing more often for reasons already stated but see it however you want to see it. Doesn't bother me one bit. -

I am seriously looking into it because the lease rates aren't too bad and I have a south facing roof with plenty of room to power everything in my home and then some. Just clearing money room for such things. -

I wish Arizona had that but these Phoenix summers keep that from ever happening. My bill is brutal during the summer but I manage it pretty well. Most folks have a much higher bill than me for the same size house. -

So just worry about today and don't worry about the counter evidence and the obvious future. Got it. Agree to disagree. -

You conveniently ignore the fact that gas will not always be this low. In fact, not so long ago, it was over $4 a gallon and stayed over $3 gallon for a number of years. These are the things I am referring to. Volatility. Gas is much worse than electric. Oh and if you don't charge during peak hours, the rates are the same here in Arizona and in North Carolina regardless of the season. The ones that do have a consistent fluctuation (on and off peak hours for example) while gas is much more unpredictable, as well as the fact that gas prices are dependent on a number of worldwide factors that cause the very fluctuation I'm speaking of. It really isn't a debatable point when you look at all the factors and not just part of it. Oh and last week in much of the south, after the Colonial pipeline spill, gas prices literally went up more than 20 cents a gallon region wide. This went up immediately too. Fact is that while you have to manage your peak and non-peak electrical usage when charging an EV, you have much more control with that usage than you do when fuel prices change on a whim. Point being, I'll take a consistent pattern of electric use over the unpredictable and volatile nature of ever changing and much more unpredictable gas prices. -

I would like to point out one huge factor that no one seems to be considering here and it's regarding the fuel itself. Which "fuel" is more price stable? Gas or electric? Electric rates go up maybe every year (depending on which state you live in of course but I am going by Duke Energy rates back east and SRP/APS in Arizona. Full disclaimer: my father was thirty year employee of Duke Energy). You at least know the long range price of electricity while gas can literally change prices within hours, depending on the crisis of the day. Fuel stability has to be considered here when trying to weigh out the pros and cons of electric vs. ICE. -

@Wings4Life-It's called a simple opinion through observation over the last few months and continuing to see it on this thread. Knowing that, then it is clear that it is not just about what you are saying. Don't overdramatize it. -

Except that they are comparing these numbers against a $100K Tesla when you have a 250 mile range/$37K Bolt to consider with Forbes numbers. Again, a lot of that data is severely cherry picked. -

The Forbes article is also riddled with cherry picked data. Why would I compare a Tesla S against the average light duty truck, as Forbes is doing? Proper comparison would be to compare it against other cars in its class like the A8, 7 Series, and even the S Class. Just saying that data is horribly flawed. -

People who ignore new technology are destined to get left behind by that same technology when it becomes the defacto choice for the majority of folks.
