Alternative Fuels & Propulsion RANDOM
surreal1272 replied to G. David Felt's topic in Electric Vehicles and Alternative Fuels
Well since that article was dated last month, I’m guessing there’s more up to date info. -
And this is just plain old nuts, dangerous, and all those other bad things and I also want to drive it.

Screw the dealership model, is all I have to say.

Alternative Fuels & Propulsion RANDOM

It’s okay though. According to one person here. Elon is rich beyond words so he can afford that “measly” little fine lol. That is also extremely dirty pool by Tesla. -

Just a sharp sharp ride @balthazar. Really dig that paint color scheme too. Keep us posted. -
The 90's version of a Suburban Coupe CUV and just as long lol.
-
I dig everything about that.

Nice! My dad actually took the third row seat out of his van and then put in a queen size sofa sleeper bed inside of it (just the metal framework, no couch), making it a pseudo conversion van. He then made a rare mistake by letting my brother drive it as his first car as a teenager. Doesn't take much to see where that could go horribly wrong for a parent lol. Once I find pictures of it, I'll post them here. Just a truly different time.
-
This is what I grew up in as a kid. And it was a Sportvan, not a sport ten. Lots of people hauling and camping trips. It was also a 3 on the tree, true old school.

Sometimes you just come across something on Craigslist that is exactly how it is described by every stereotype. It's also a little scary that I kind of like it but that's probably because I spent the first 13 years of my life practically being raised in a '71 Chevy Sport 10 van. Yes, I have a slight thing for vans as well as wagons lol. https://greensboro.craigslist.org/cto/d/greensboro-1991-chevrolet-g20-custom-van/7324811987.html

Looks like McIntosh. Another bucket list buy.

Don't know if I had one coming my way or not but either way, I apologize for any negative contribution to that exchange. I would love to be able to catch a shot like that with my DSLR! Nature is chaos and beauty at the same time.

As an avid sweet tea enthusiast southerner who makes his own brew, that is a felony where I come from. That is a whole other white trash tragedy right there. There are literally stainless containers for just such a purpose, where you go through 55 gallons of tea an hour lol.

Still sold directly by Buick and it handled through them from beginning to end (in some fashion or another) whereas the Hammer was basically an aftermarket tuner job by AMG. Not quite the same thing. https://www.caranddriver.com/features/a23739443/buick-regal-grand-national-gnx-history/
-
And for only 4 times the cost while still being slower. There was also never more than 30 of those because they were essentially one off conversions by AMG, and at a time when AMG was not fully under the Mercedes umbrella (ownership wise) so they are basically just another tuner company like Callaway and Hennessy. At least the Buick was all GM and all stock with no tuner help. Mercedes didn't have a real interest in hi-po sedans at that time anyway, which is why it took AMG to juice up that E-300.

Actually the dream cars from my childhood were the Lamborghini Countach and Porsche 959 but thanks again for assuming people’s intent here. Got any more?

Lotto winning/bucket list car. More style on that than should be allowed on a car,
-
You are correct and my response was for that exact reason. The defensive BS and lofty standards of one person should not diminish what was said in admiration of a classic ride. Seriously, follow your own advice. You're the one who had to $h! on David because he made a COMMON SENSE statement about a car that was (flaws and all) ahead of the curve back then. He also never said it was the greatest car of the 80s so that's you putting words into others mouths again. That, in and of itself, is an exaggeration. Again, follow your own advice and move on.
-
You didn’t fix anything. Common sense would tell you that by “performance auto”, he was referring to sedans. Name the sedans (in the same class and provide range as the GNX) from the companies HE mentioned that were so much better overall that it diminishes what he was saying about the GNX. I know you have lofty standards and love to point that out but it is ridiculous to take something he said (as a generalization) and just post some instant defensiveness that has nothing to do with anything.
-
And not one person who wants or has a GNX gives two s**** about the handling and not for nothing, but outside of true sports cars like the Vette and 911, there wasn’t another sedan (which is clearly what David was referring to) that could touch it. The Germans and Japanese didn’t have a damn thing that compared with the GNX. It was the rare bright spot in an otherwise horrible decade for cars, especially domestics.

Industry News: Rental Car Companies Are Buying Up Used Cars
surreal1272 replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
Because everyone had a crystal ball a year ago during one of the most unprecedented economic collapses of our time (please note heavy use of sarcasm here). Companies like Hertz going bankrupt have zero to do with the circumstances of the past year so maybe you beed to go back and read WHY they had to sell their inventory last year. If they want to stay afloat and pay their staff (or bot go bankrupt), that is what they have to do when the money stops flowing all of a sudden. Knowing things like that, what would you have done different? -

2 at the very least! That's jacked up and should never happen right off the hauler. -
No one will ever convince me that the current gen Durango is not just a taller Magnum. For the record, I got really bored at 1AM and decided to confirm for myself and import the top image into Photoshop have a little fun. Everything there is pure Durango except where I cropped off the top and angled the rear profile down to resemble the Magnum profile. Even the nose is all Durango, just pinched. Looks spot on like a Charger. It's not a perfect conversion overall but you get the idea. They screwed up not giving the Magnum at least one more generation IMO. Imagine a Hellcat Magnum AWD! I know I can (and yes, I am 10000% aware of my personal bias here).
