Jeep News: Jeep Finds Itself With A Lot of Wranglers
daves87rs replied to William Maley's topic in Jeep
I don’t have an issue with some being priced to the moon, but they should have a wide range of price to appeal to as many folks as possible. It’s pretty much priced to the image/yuppie person now. It’s no longer geared to the entry level/ younger consumer, which are/will be their biggest fans... Yes, they will keep selling them, and make a buck or too. But folks at some point are simply going to look for other products, which will hurt it in the long run.......- 10 replies

GM News: Unifor Drops Some Print Ads on GM's Doorstep
daves87rs replied to William Maley's topic in General Motors
I love this.....this is what happens when you try to go cheap...and it will burn. GM seems to forget who makes the quality product. Coming from a UAW family-this hits home with me. IF they try to make this about the money, it will cost them more than sales... This is not rocket science folks. Cruze sales down? How about sending the Cruze to Mexico and bring the hot selling Equinox here? Bolt would do just fine in D Ham. Couldn’t hurt to build some trucks at Oshawa..... I know how automotive works-and what can and should be done. Would be nice to keep those loyal GM buying workers/family buying....don’t play us dumb, GM. I am but maybe a week or two from getting a GM product. I want to see how this plays out....could be a mind changer. I want to have passion in my product-or it is simply not worth it. If I just want another CUV, heck, I cold just buy a Kia. It just seems GM wants to play stupid at least once a decade.......- 63 replies

Minus the very last part (they will be part of it) Ocn is pretty much right on. GM is pulling a bonehead move dumping the Cruze when the Sonic and the Spark make more sense to dump. Offer different level of the Cruze base model to make up for the loss of the tiny cars-ans cover a larger range of customers. Then, only after they grow with you-they can jump into other products. Kia is already gaining ground-and the Chinese are not far behind ......

Yeah, I am going to miss the Impy...It has hands down my favorite designs-simple and classy. And nice to ride in too.... Sad because this will be the last time we will see the impy or the Taurus and cars slowly fade.... That being said-do I risk getting my first new car in 14 years before the $h! hits the fan? I have been preparing, But I am still not sure just how bad the damage will be this time. While my job is steady, still makes me wonder......

GM News: The Upcoming Fight Between General Motors and the UAW
daves87rs replied to William Maley's topic in General Motors
D-Ham actually did pretty good with the Volt. So I doubt it is about the EVs.... It’s simply about one thing-money. GM has had plans to more robots in the plants to build these new cars/trucks. A new Sonata Is built with a quarter of line workers GM uses. Also with EVs, for example, less stuff is assembled as whole pieces or units are brought in from the outside. Simply based on what I have seen from the Volt- you need like half the workers... Father time has finally caught up with the assemby process-even the CHinese can build stuff with way less people.....
