  1. oldsmoboi... i'd completely agree with you if insurance wasnt an issue... but it kinda is... 19 year old + Camaro + already totalled one car = raped on insurance rates
  2. thats what i told my parents... im starting to make headway tho... they're finally realizing i have a point... haha if it all works out then on monday i should be making a post about my new 2004 3.6L Red CTS... complete with pictures... but we'll see where it goes from here
  3. well if i did the lease i wouldnt be putting 15,000 down... thats only if im gunna buy the car and then finance the rest of the price
  4. okay so most of you know about my monte's sad death... if not then dont worry about the details... its totalled anyway... so after looking around and checking out cars... im pretty much in love with the CTS... ive found a bunch of 04-05 models within my price range with reasonable to really good mileage and even have a hold deposit on one particular 2004 Red 3.6L with a black interior... now heres the problem... my parents have decided that maybe 20,000 isnt good enough... and maybe i should think about financing 10-12k with a 15k down payment... therby expanding my price-range to 27k... they also brought up the possibility of me leasing a car... which is over the top tempting due to the multiple gorgeous 2008 CTSs that ive seen while looking at 04s and 05s... but anyway... if i did go this route i would in fact be able to pay all of the bills... but the issue is that im not sure im comfortable putting myself out there like that because if worst comes to worst i may wind up having to dip into college savings a bit... but... theres an absolutely beautiful 2007 model not far from me thats a program car... which if given an opportunity to i would take in a second... so i dont know what to do... advice?
  5. ive seen a couple chargers around here... the scariest police fleet in my area has got to be the one in a town about 5 miles from me... all they have is chargers and mustangs
  6. this one was spawned out of curiosity and boredom... basically a mini-wrangler type vehicle for hummer with a pickup truck-like bed, the circles with crosses in them represent where the center of the wheels would be and the random black bar in the middle of it is a roll-bar
  7. im sure this will surprise noone... especially those who saw the sig i had a while ago... 1969 corvette L88... mmmmm
  8. funny story... i go to ohio state... which is why this made my weekend haha
  9. the strange urge the seems to exist in every segment to produce a wagon variant of every single vehicle ever... why all the decklid hate? retro done wrong... aka lazy... tracing a 1970s car and making it a bit smoother doesnt count for a whole new design... the recent trend of trying to make every car look 'sporty'/'angry' sometimes it works (charger/lancer) sometimes hilarity ensues (camry)
  10. hahahaha i loved watching that game... and yes... if they start 0-4... it will make my life
  11. 2010 Cadillac ALR (Allante Luxury Roadster) lots of influence from the sixteen... i thought it would look good on a tiny car... it turned out pretty good for my first drawing in 5 months haha
  12. brand new computer... i can actually see the smilies now... and the skins... there are no dreaded red xs!!!!! its glorious!!!!!
  13. alright after a bit of digging aorund and getting general quotes from insurance companies... i have decided to open the possibility of a V8... mainly due to the fact that i could be insured for a 2005 GTO for about 3,700 a year... which is surprisingly less than the insurance i payed for my monte... haha as far as people carrying and cargo... i need a lot of room in my car since i frequently drive whenever people want to go someplace because im the only one among my friends who actually enjoys driving... not to mention needing to be able to squeeze a school years worth of luggage in my car when i head up to ohio
  14. yeah im buying a brand new CTS for 20 grand... of course im considering used... haha
  15. on top of the 20k i can rummage up another 5-6k... 7 if i want to start dipping into bonds and such and if i really wanted to expend all my money outside of college funds... i could get about 10... but im really only willing to spend an extra 3-4 above the 20... unless the car is entirely worth spending that much money on
  16. im going back and forth on the charger... i love the front end... a lot... but from a-pillar back the car does nothing for me, not to mention my experience driving an R/T model left me less than impressed... but im not leaving it out of the question all together... who knows, i may be one test drive away from buying one of the big bastards haha
  17. alright so im sure everyone remembers the 2004 monte carlo intimidator i loved regardless of the bad taste it left in most enthusiasts mouths... well she has since departed the world of road-going cars upon getting into a fight with a tree... basically what happened was i was driving along a winding road in pennsylvania where i work at a summer camp... it had rained recently and the roads were slick... i came up on one nasty corner that could almost qualify as a hairpin which has next to no bank and a hill in the middle... long story short the rear end slid out on me, i fishtailed for about 50 feet then ran into a tree... everyone in the car was fine and walked away a little shaken up but in no worse health... the car however suffered irreparable underbody damage when the tree snapped the driver's side engine mountings and shoved most of said structure backwards into the firewall the brightside of the story is... after being declared totalled... the insurance company is giving me 20 grand for the car so here is my dilemma... what do i buy? i want something with road presence... something that will scare little children and old grannies alike... im leaning towards a rear-driver on this one but will take pretty much anything... only limitations are no V8 as i dont feel like selling my soul to an insurance company while im only 18... and id rather not drive non-american but if you can find something that fits then ill give it a look... i've already considered the 06 monte, Caddy CTS, Chrysler 300, Jeep Wrangler, Chevy Avalanche (bit of a stretch... not so sure i want a truck but im willing to look at anything), etc one other question is... would a base model G8 be worth saving up my money and waiting for? because i swear to god i'd buy that car without blinking if i could
  18. you may hate the raccoons... but the raccoons love you...
  19. found a monte... looks like it got underneath a truck or something... poor thing
  20. i looked for montes... but there werent any good ones... just a couple of fender benders etc... so why i decided to do this i dont know but... well... Z my friend... and any other C3 lover really... i would advise you not look... my good god... those poor cars
  21. Led Zeppelin anyone? since the days of my youth i was told what it means to be a man now ever since i reached that age i've tried to do all those things the best i can no matter how i try i find my way back into the same old jam good times bad times you know i've had my share when my woman left town with a brown eyed man and i still dont seem to care sixteen i fell in love with a girl as sweet as could be only took a couple of days until she was rid of me she swore that she would be all mine and love me to the end but when i whispered in her ear i lost another friend good times bad times you know ive had my share when my woman left town with a brown eyed man and i still dont seem to care i know what it means to be alone i sure do wish that i was home i dont care what the neighbors say im gunna love you each and every day you can feel the beat within my heart realize, sweet babe, we aint never gunna part
  22. Lesson #2: Anything that says VTEC on it adds horsepower as well. If you can find a large collection of yellow VTEC stickers, you my friend, have hit the jackpot. Put all 50 of them on your car, the placement does not matter, its +7 horsepower for each sticker you have.
  23. eh... not my style but if you like it and it works for you than thats all that matters, congradulations and good luck with the new car hows the dash by the way? i've seen them and they look kinda confusing, any issues getting used to it or is it easier to figure out than it seems?
  24. Pontiac Fiero I'm a little rusty, havent drawn in at least 3 months... thankfully this contest gave me a bit of inspiration, so i hope you guys like it
  25. hmm... well it definitely all started when i was around 3, my grandpa would take me out for drives in his Datsun that i posted up here a few months ago, that car sparked my interest in cars. For a while i kind of ignored it, noticing the good looking ones here and there but i was young so there wasnt really much interest, then when i was 12 i walked into my barber shop and saw a book about the history of corvettes, i started flipping through those pages and i turned to one page and stopped dead. In front of me was a picture of a 1969 Corvette L88, the car which i still lust after today, that moment right there is what began it all. This site actually wound up developing a mild interest into a full blown enthusiasm. As far as the question why am i still an enthusiast, I guess its because the Corvette still exists, its constantly getting better and more exciting. Also, everyday i discover some new classic car that i love the appearance of, so there is always something new for me to look and and find things out about. Its got to be one of the most interesting things to read about, there is so much that has happened in the automotive industry, and so much that will soon happen, that it is never boring, its constantly changing... and i guess thats what keeps me interested along with this site, which i have finally been able to get back onafter 3 months of struggling with a strange problem getting access, so thank you guys for being here and for continuing the enthusiasm of myself, as well as countless others
