In Praise of the Pontiac Aztek
04monteintimidator replied to regfootball's topic in Heritage Marques
i really think the Aztek couldve looked alot better with just a few minor changes the grill setup... with the way the hood scoop things related to the grill... if they had just removed the seperation and made that all one big grill assembly... or...changed the hood scoop things...moved them further back towards the windsheild and out of alignment with the grill.. that wouldve immediatley gotten rid of the confusion that that area creates the headlights..if it was just all one assembly instead of being split like it is... it would look awhole lot better the rear... if they had gone with a slightly more conventional rear-roofline... with a less drastic angle from roof to rear end... and then rounded off the very square bottom... it wouldlook alot better those three things... as well as lowering it a bit... would've made this car much more attractive and it probably wouldve been a larger success and for the record... while i dont consider the aztek to be a beautiful car... i also dont really think its as ugly as most people do... i kind of like it... its got a weird sense of self about it... and ilike cars with an original personality...however controversial they may be... i do after all drive a FWD 6th gen Monte Carlo... -
and to be fair...

are those... i cant believe it... it has pink walls... :rotflmao:

well i was originally going to post about how the term "best rice ever" should be included in this years oxymoron hall of fame class along with "hot hatch" and "sport wagon" but... this... surpasses any expectations i possibly couldve had when i clicked on this thread... i wonder how much horsepower he got by spray-painting the name "skyline" on his car? i bet it could beat a porsche at the nurburgring now! EDIT: i just noticed...this isnt just an ordinary skyline... oh no... its a sentra skyline S GTR type-R... with NOS!! oh man... this thing could take a corvette :rotflmao:

so you came in here... and pretty much acted like a complete jerk... just to find out who knows about stuff and who doesnt... when you couldve just read around the forum for a bit... and found the same thing out... and not pissed anyone off... thats... lovely

consumer reports... is not based on fact... it is based on what the people surveyed decided to write on the peice of paper that was mailed to them... and alot of times they willalter the data just because they think one car should be better than another... we had a thread a while ago about it... where someones friend had an experience while his wife was filling out the consumer reports thing... and asked how much they had spent on his chevy truck which was decently old...and it was something like $150 to replace something minor... an then asked what they had spent on their daughters celica... when the wife heard that the celica had taken over $600 in repairs... she exclamed "no way did her toyota need mroe money than your chevy!!" and then altered the numbers to reflect her personal opinion the thing is...with consumer reports...you just dont know... there is nothing really scientific about the way they go about gathering data for their surveys... JD Power is much better in that respect...hence why its results are held in much higher regard... i dont think ive ever seen a car commercial advertising "consumer reports best initial quality" but ive seen countless ones citing JD Power awards... look...noone is saying that every toyota ever built is going to fallapart the minute you touch it... we are simply saying that toyota... as it grows... is finding it more and more difficult to keep up the outstanding quality they were able to produce when they were a much smaller company... its reality...it happens... toyota is slipping in quality...thats what we are saying... not that it is awful or the worst ever... just that it is slipping... they arent perfect... they have problems too... they are just able to cover them up better
-
yeah thats literally the point of everyone elses post... toyotas quality issues get hidden by their PR department... so most people never hear of them... and thats a problem... because i know i would like to know whether or not i will randomly lose control of my steering wheel or all of a sudden not have enough power to accelerate into the passing lane... and those are two things an extended warranty arent going to help with once your car is totalled and you are in the hospital you seem to have issues understanding what everyone is saying... i havent seen one person on here say that GM is not responsible for GMs problems...we alladmit they are but we also see that they are starting to turn it around... but you refuse to accept it... all you can think about is how pretty toyota looks after its PR department hangs pretty posters over all the blemishes on its image you stated that GM lost 10.5 billion dollars last year...and you're right... they did... but lets think for a second shall we... ill actually use your words here... "If you don't think losing 10.5 billion last year a bad financial situation then you are either very rich or don't have a clue" GM... is the largest automaker in the world...and yes... it is because they have 9 brands...but guess what... it also means that... they are very rich! imagine that! yes... GM has financial troubles... yes they have had quality issues in the past... an yes they are responsible for all of it... however...they are starting to turn that around... they are producing better quality, more appealing cars for every segment... toyota on the other hand... is starting to realize just how hard it is to maintain supreme quality and be such a big company... they are slipping... and the media is starting to take notice... and im sorry that you had to find out about it this way... but its the truth... its just how it is...

04monteintimidator replied to Flybrian's topic in Choppin' Competitions
alright i will say this one more time... and it will shock you because it has nothing to do with how ugly hatchbacks inherently are and how they should not be made anymore... PONTIACS HAVE TWO HOOD SCOOPS!!!!!!!!! NO EXCEPTIONS! EVER!!!!! thank you -
everything... they are nothing more than the more brick-like even more awful looking bigger siblings of hatchbacks... and we all know that hatchbacks are in fact the work of satan himself... no vehicle with less than 6 inches of ground clearance should ever lack a decklid... crossovers were invented for a reason... smaller, more fuel-efficient SUVs that have a legitimate reason to have a d pillar... i vote... that all hatchback production stops immediately... and all remaining running hatchbacks... especially those riced out and made "faster" with the addition of fun things like 40 pound wings and 20 pound body kits... be donated to the monster truck people... so they will have an large supply of hideous... pointless car to crush i also vote... that the terms "hot hatch" and "sport wagon" be included in the always growing list of oxymorons... as nothing that short and fat can be sporty... when was the last time you looked at a man like chris farley and said "damn... i bet he can move pretty fast" ?

this is my final entry... made from boredom and curiosity... what if Cadillac made a production version of the Sixteen... as a coupe... with A&S all over the place? this is what it might look like... so here it is... the Cadillac Sixteen coupe hi-po versions could carry the V designation and be known as the "V Sixteen" -
help me save my familys garage!

to answer most of the questions... she actually had expressed interest in the Milan and MKZ... i forgot about those two... ive told my parents to take her to a dealership and show her the cars... hopefully that will help... as far as what happened to being happy about getting a car... i dunno... my sister is kinda spoiled... like... i insisted i pay for as much of my car as i could... and i was really excited when my parents offered to pay as much as they did for my monte (we went about half and half... and i do plan on paying them back for it once i get a steady job after college)... but my sister has kinda always gotten what she wants... who knows really... -
alright right now... my family's garage is under seige... my moms Caddy and my Monte are fine... my dad who unfortunately was forced into a purchase before the GMT-900s came out... drives a toyota sequoia (the front wheel of his 98 astro fell off in summer 05... and he needed a new truck asap for his job) so right now its 2 to 1... not so bad however... my sister is getting her license soon... and so she has been looking at cars (both my parents cars are insured by my dad's company... noone under 18 can drive them with coverage... thats why i got my own car) she doesnt want a coupe... she started out really wanting a toyota avalon... but my parents said it was too expensive... right now... shes in love with the acura TL... ive tried to show her american cars she might like... but she looks at pictures and says no without even seeing the actual car... she said no to the Aura!!!! i dont know what to do... any of you guys know of any cars she might be interested in? preferably american... because while im at college... my Monte is being stored in a seperate garage... so the odds may become 2 to 1 the wrong way... and i just dont want that to happen
-
hmm... some sort of gently-used RWD coupe with manual trans... i wont be looking until 2011ish... so ideally... a 2006 GTO... but i wouldnt complain about something else like a WS6 or sumthin... who knows

eh... alright i guess... alot of the stuff is really radical... if they make a production version itll get toned down and lose some of its attitude... i think id like it better if it had a decklid and the c pillar didnt blend into the rear end... to me... its just yet another hatchback on the road... which is something i dont want to see... so i cant get excited about it... however if they can properly translate this to a 4 door coupe ala RX-8 and keep the aggression and radical design language... i will be very very proud of GM -
BV... just because you're gay doesnt mean you can force your millenia to go through as many look changes as madonna... its just not right...

Is the Chrysler Group in an Identity Krise?
04monteintimidator replied to Variance's topic in Opinion
i think the Chrysler Group is in an Identity Crisis for two reasons... one: The confusion between nationality of the brand which was pointed out very well in the article two: almost all of their cars think that they are part of the LX line -
:rotflmao: :rotflmao: sleek? are you serious? i bet a solid steel cube has a better drag coefficient than this pile as ive said many time before... its a pretty decent looking jeep
