oh man... i love the ram air 6 design sooooo much... it manages to still look the same as the current GTO without looking like it at all... if that makes any sense... its also retro... without being retro... its just so... amazing... have you ever seen the numbers for it tho? the performance is absurd... it had like 575 horse and upwards of 500 lb/ft of torque i think that alone was the reason GM said no to it... it wouldve been much more powerful than the 'vette... because the entire car looks like it wouldve been able to be produced... but then again... this was just a design competition within GM and a group of interns... yes i said interns... drew this up

i realize im gunna get tons of crap for this... but i just wanna know... is there any real reason why FWD is so bad? my monte is FWD and whenever i tell people that they always become disgusted... is there any actual performance benefit to RWD or is it just more of a tradition thing? because if its just tradition... then its really nothing to whine about now is it?

i actually really like the idea of the G8 with the GTO as a coupe model along with a RWD/AWD firebird... its bringing the GTO back to its origins as a performance model of a base sedan... altho im getting bored with this G(#) naming thing... they should come up with new names... but then again if they're gunna do the GTO as a coupe version of a sedan... im sure alot of people wouldn't mind if that sedan was called Tempest

i really want to put a fully functional ram air system on my 04 monte... i was just wondering if anyone knew what kind of horsepower gain i should expect... i plan to get an SLP cold air box with ram air option and a single scoop ram air hood... also does anyone know any other thing i can do to get lots of horse for relatively cheap? i know the ram air stuff will run me about 700 for the hood and 120 for the cold air box... so any other mods for under 1500 would be good thanks alot

as soon as it came out i saw the new GTO as an M3 fighter... its just in a different class than the mustang... styling wise... honestly its not as bad as everyone says it is... its not great but its not ugly either... im just glad they didnt do what ford did with the mustang which in my opinion is way too retro... the new challenger too is just far too retro for me... its nice to have retro cues... but to make the car look almost exactly the same as a 1967 model of the car... thats just lazy... im definitely sad to see the GTO go... although hopefully it will be back soon... and hopefully the new version keeps up the high quality overall car of this one...

everything ive heard about the blue devil shows the LS7 getting either supercharged or turbocharged... recently its been looking alot like turbocharged because i read somewhere about intercoolers and that sort of thing... horsepower numbers seem to waver between 600 and 700 but the weight always stays the same at 2900... which is ridiculous... this vette would destroy almost any supercar on the market right now... as far as the name is concerned... im partial to ZL1 because im a huge C3 fan... and the name ZL1 just makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside...

I've heard some nasty rumors about the GTO redesign due in the 08 model year... rumors like... 4 doors... not a blatant sedan like the charger... but a 4 door coupe like the mazda rx-8... this is a very scary rumor that i do not like... however i've been thinking about it recently and i realized something... if they did decide to go through with that, which i still hope they dont, wouldn't this make room for a firebird? if the GTO was a bigger roomier car (as it has traditionally been) that would open up the possibility of a pontiac 2 door pony car... firebird or otherwise... but to be honest... if they're just going to rebadge and slightly rearrange the camaro to make a firebird... id rather they just not bring it out and make the GTO a real 2 door coupe

i really... really hope you were kidding...that is the worst idea ever... cavalier has some good ideas... and there are some more good ideas to fix GM in another forum... i have some ideas too... but before i explain them let me say this... when i say to build a car on the same platform... in no way... does that mean a simple rebadging... im just talking about body mates that look nothing alike (think grand prix/monte carlo) also note that these ideas are only on performance cars... i never came up with good ideas for the rest of the fleet... and cavaliers ideas would work great in that respect anyway okay first... with the new GTO redesign... priority is to keep the great engineering of the current ones... i understand they dont look great but they get great reviews in handling drive-ability etc... there are rumors of making it a 4 door coupe... like the mazda rx-8... although i do not like this idea... it could open up huge possibilities... such as chevy could release a 4 door coupe chevelle on the same platform... give it a ram aired ls6 with 450ish horse and price it in the mid 30s... bye bye shelby gt500 second... camaro... make a firebird!!! because of the 4 door coupes... the camaro wouldnt compete with chevelle nor would the firebird compete with GTO... put an ls2 in the ss/trans am price in the mid 20s bye bye mustang GT and challenger third... im sure you've all heard the rumors of the corvette blue devil... supercharged (or turbocharged) ls7 reports put its horsepower anywhere between 600 and 700... it weighs only 2900 lbs... and is rumored to be priced at 100k... this will completely destroy any sales of the ford gt40 and dodge viper GTS-R, as well as hurt sales of many european supercars which are priced 100k higher and have less power... if they do all this... GM could take over the performance market again and if they follow the advice given by cavalier for the rest of the fleet... they could even establish their dominance of the american market once again

no you didnt get a different engine... i think early C2s and maybe late C3s were the only ones in that time span to not be called stingray... one or two words... but when you say stingray... most people eaither think of the 427 C2 or the L88 C3... both two of the most recognizable cars that have ever rolled out of detroit... what Stingray means... is corvette heritage... the most recognizable and loved corvettes of all time... and the name should not be disgraced with a V6 kappa... but also... im not going to say that you must love the C3s... bcuz that would be ignorant... but what dont you like about them?

NO no no no... bad idea terrible idea... blasphemous even first of all... the stingray nameplate should NEVER be on any car other than a corvette...no little kappa roadster... second... NEVER EVER do i EVER want to hear that something named "Stingray" is going to have a V6 in it... or even worse an I4 i swear i will be beyond angry if they do this to that classic nameplate.. when i think Stingray i think L88 or ZL1... big mean V8s that tore up the road... not a little roadster with a V6 that glides down them... i REFUSE this idea and it should never EVER be mentioned again... altho a chevy kappa wouldnt be too bad... just do NOT name it stingray dont even think of naming it stingray... dont even name it anything CLOSE to stingray and avro... for asking if the name Stingray ever meant anything... shame on you... go research the entire third generation of corvettes... right now... Stingray is one of the most meaningful names in american supercar history... right up there with Shelby... it means EVERYTHING for the true corvette enthusiast...
