Strangest car ad on Craigslist ever?
I hope to hell it's all true- there's enough social conformity & judgement going on anymore, what with people unable to let others live their lives. BTW- it's a '64 300. Guess it was a fortunate thing it wasn't a 300-K, or Betsy may have been carrying around twin Carter 4bbls in her purse.

1955 Packard Clipper Constellation
'64 Buick coupes built with the 425/ 2x4s ... inculding the Riviera .... was 366 cars. Cool Packard, was looking at a '55 CCC last summer, all white with red leather interior & full power, real solid but needed work. The detailing on these cars is fantastic- and I just love that engine-turned dash. The driveway service call is a great story from another time. We'll never see the likes of service like that again.

Police cars gain popularity.
Once I pulled up to a junkyard in a circa 8-yr old MoPar sedan- steel roof, great shape, blackwalls & 'cop caps'. Walking in- the office was deserted... took about 5 minutes for one of the regulars to pop his head out & say 'Oh, it's you guys! We thought it was the IRS!'. Guess that said it all about the operations there...

Album Cover Trivia
The first car I owned (year, make, model) is coincidentally shown on the cover of the first album I owned (both obtained used- if that makes any difference). I've mentioned the car a few times... but how many album covers feature cars to begin with? Any guesses ?

who hear works out and how much
As I slung 9-foot 2x6s around all week, I pumped them overhead, to the right side, then the left. A workout on top of a workout.

Jay Leno: "I think you'll find that the Volt will be a superior package to the Prius"
I wonder how many congressional salaries and PAC contributions it would take to build a filling station. You know- the people who passed the laws to allow & then rubber stamped the mess we're in, then lied about being part of it.

Your Dream List
Seen 'em, but don't think so. I already have a 20-foot long truck... hanging another non-articulated 9.5' out the rear brings it up to 30 feet. Far too congested here in Jersey for that, plus you can't see it while driving ! I once carried a 14' long steel frame in the 6.5' bed of my HD- tailgate up, 6.5' hanging over the bumper, front end weighted down, no problems. What exactly do you like about it, BP? I assume you use it very infrequently ? I'd prefer to have really long stuff up in the air above the roof- no damage risk, no decreased mobility.
-
Your Dream List
Buick- finish it. Too many things to list. 2500HD - replace the front bumper (have one), put bed rail covers on, replace tailgate edging, fabricate a 'long things' rack for one side of the bed, so I can carry circa 16' trim/lumber, etc.

A Rare Pontiac Indeed
1972~ LeMans, series 2D Luxury LeMans, series 2G LeMans Sport was a sub-series under the base Lemans (both series 2D). GTO did return to option status for '72, available on the series 2D 2-dr sedan & 2-dr hardtop. This was also a return for the GTO: to offer a 2-dr sedan- last seen in '67. There was a GT option package for the LeMans in '72 : same base equipment as on the previous year GT-37, of course with "GT" badging only vs. "GT-37".

72,000 ?? "Not a success" ?? For a crude 2-seat roadster, that's pretty damned decent, IMO. Only ones I'm remotely familiar with (and that's to say- not at all), are the Nash-Healeys: 254 built from '52-53.

Calling All New Yorkers.
If PA is requiring a notarized signature of the seller, then the seller needs to go to the notary & get his signature stamped. I doubt a PA notary is going to stamp a NYS title you hand him. Wouldn't some NY State gov DMV website have the answer, or at least the contact info to get that answer?

>>"1970 came in at 1419 units"<< This is GT-37s only, correct ? Cool info- will have to make note of it. My source (Standard Catalog of American Cars) is already speckled with penned-in corrections, so the incorrect attribution of '5802' for both years doesn't surprise me.

So, what will your car have?
Shell Rotella-T in the DuraMax. Pennzoil or NAPA (non-synthetics) in the wife's GP... tho usually the dealer changes it as opposed to me.

Attn Balthazar
Hmmm, I'm thinking that number above is '7200' and not '72000', because these have always been rare. Don't knock yourself out- the question was more a passing curiosity than a growing interest...

Gutted and Field-dressed
'80-81 is right- I have a print ad that's emblazened "This is the Last MG Ad You Will Ever See." EDIT- is that about the tail end of Healey production? - I really don't know much about them... and they all seem to be from the '50s. I see the dent in the frame rail- you could never dent the Buick's frame that way while keeping at least 2 tires on the road... must be right about 3/32" thick steel- fully boxed... but it also has rounded corners & bends for even more strength. I know- I shouldn't be comparing an American frame to an automotive 3rd-world unit like this....
-
Gutted and Field-dressed
King pins & lever shocks ?? I'm thinking I'd have to be in a '40s Buick for that... and a pre-'38 for leaf springs....
-
Gutted and Field-dressed
Another note: Healey race car = rear leaf springs. Buick road car = 4-wheel coils.

Gutted and Field-dressed
Okee-dokee. Guess I'm more used to my B-59's frame. That one, too, is extremely stiff, even if it's now missing it's 'K' member. Jack up one corner and the whole thing pivots up, and this as a hardtop with currently-latchless doors.
