  1. >>"not to give Balthazar Ammo"<< These cars ('60s-70s BMWs) supply all the ammo themselves. Unrefined (cubed) & lacking attention to detail are their hallmarks. It's like BMW was a 3rd world carmaker in their first decade of building cars- the exposed rockers, the horrendous federalization body hardware, good God, man- how is this stuff overlooked... yet we go back-n-forth over the infetessimal grades of "plastic quality" like we're scientists talking on a molecular level. Not an ounce of stylistic effort in these uber-bland euro-generics, either. Right up to the Banglized BMWs... the entire 'design vocabulary' remained exactly the same for decades; is BMW the originator of retro thru self-parody, then? This is just commentary on the exterior styling- interiors & drivability are other, thorny issues... One pic/car that is interesting to me is the euro-spec 2-dr up top- but there it's merely the row of louvers behind (??) the bumper- something different (even if doubtfully functional). But drooling and heart palpitations ???? Ooooooo-kkkkkkkkkkk........
  2. If it was 1958, we'd be talking "Magic-Mirror Acrylic Laquer".
  3. I may be booked for the entire year at this point; still with zero advertising. Couple really good clients w/ big projects for this year, which is good since my wife expects to be unemployeed around this time next year. Wonder if I could stand working with her day after day... wonder if she could stand me ordering her around....
  4. How awesome your family saved the 2x4s AND the AC ! Have had lots of experience with AFBs- they take some flak & they're not all that big, but I love 'em. A '64 Wildcat would be my #2 Buick choice after my '59... closely followed by a '66 Riv.
  5. I just looked at a '71 Merc Cyclone this weekend... but she's on a Cougar. Missed it it by that much. -- -- -- -- -- No to both guesses. In that mine wasn't really a trivia question.... here's the answer : 1964 GP.
  6. I hope to hell it's all true- there's enough social conformity & judgement going on anymore, what with people unable to let others live their lives. BTW- it's a '64 300. Guess it was a fortunate thing it wasn't a 300-K, or Betsy may have been carrying around twin Carter 4bbls in her purse.
  7. '64 Buick coupes built with the 425/ 2x4s ... inculding the Riviera .... was 366 cars. Cool Packard, was looking at a '55 CCC last summer, all white with red leather interior & full power, real solid but needed work. The detailing on these cars is fantastic- and I just love that engine-turned dash. The driveway service call is a great story from another time. We'll never see the likes of service like that again.
  8. >>"I like my SUV, my widescreen HDTV, my TiVo, my DVDs, my wireless broadband internet, laptops, iPod Classic, cellphone, CDs, 7.1 surround sound, etc...having lots of choice is a good thing. Not to mention huge selections at the grocery, and a huge selection of groceries to choose from....and a huge selection of restaurants with a vast array of cuisines to sample...I would much rather be in the here and now than the 1950s.. "<< Suddenly, the searing beam of a signal beacon pierces the heavens, stabbing a wayward cloud against the black velvet fabric of the night sky. There, in the sky... a symbol of some sort.... beckoning... the Emblem of the Future.... w-what is it?...; the silhouette of a bat?? A large 'S' in a shield ?? No... it's.... it's a..... A cheese curl reclining on a sofa. The New Millenium - Feel the Bloating, Embrace the Atrophy
  9. >>"Black '64 Grand Prix coupe "<< STAY OUT OF MY GARAGE !! Seen today~ 1934 Plymouth 5-window coupe, street rod 1948 Plymouth Super DeLuxe 2-dr sedan, mild custom 1952 Chevy 1500 pick-up, stone stock w/ stake sides 1958 Cadillac Eldorado Seville 2-dr hardtop (1 of 855), custom 1960 Ford Thunderbird 2-dr hardtop, factory 1971 Merc Cyclone 2-dr hardtop, factory
  10. >>"McDonald's & Food Stamps, Gatorde & Coke Zero, High-Defn. TV, broadband internet, NFL/NBA/MLB, Reality Shows, Blue-Ray/DVDs SUVs with brush guards, bluetooth & NAVi, Designer Jeans designer sunglasses designer purse & countless other useless fashion-driven items... iPod nanos, Cell Phones with touch screen & wireless internet, up-to-the-minute sports scores..."<< Only single one of these I have/partake in/ pay any attention to is broadband internet. The rest (and actually; the internet too) is no more than 'manufactured need'.
  11. Once I pulled up to a junkyard in a circa 8-yr old MoPar sedan- steel roof, great shape, blackwalls & 'cop caps'. Walking in- the office was deserted... took about 5 minutes for one of the regulars to pop his head out & say 'Oh, it's you guys! We thought it was the IRS!'. Guess that said it all about the operations there...
  12. The first car I owned (year, make, model) is coincidentally shown on the cover of the first album I owned (both obtained used- if that makes any difference). I've mentioned the car a few times... but how many album covers feature cars to begin with? Any guesses ?
  13. The interior is no good on this car either ???
  14. >>"Not that a properly functioning one exists."<< >>"not much anymore...."<< Excellent- just seeing who's asleep or awake.
  15. As I slung 9-foot 2x6s around all week, I pumped them overhead, to the right side, then the left. A workout on top of a workout.
  16. I wonder how many congressional salaries and PAC contributions it would take to build a filling station. You know- the people who passed the laws to allow & then rubber stamped the mess we're in, then lied about being part of it.
  17. Flow numbers ??
  18. >>"...even less receptive to the needs of its citizens than current governments..."<< You... don't... actually think governments exist to serve the needs of their citizens, do you ?
  19. Seen 'em, but don't think so. I already have a 20-foot long truck... hanging another non-articulated 9.5' out the rear brings it up to 30 feet. Far too congested here in Jersey for that, plus you can't see it while driving ! I once carried a 14' long steel frame in the 6.5' bed of my HD- tailgate up, 6.5' hanging over the bumper, front end weighted down, no problems. What exactly do you like about it, BP? I assume you use it very infrequently ? I'd prefer to have really long stuff up in the air above the roof- no damage risk, no decreased mobility.
  20. Buick- finish it. Too many things to list. 2500HD - replace the front bumper (have one), put bed rail covers on, replace tailgate edging, fabricate a 'long things' rack for one side of the bed, so I can carry circa 16' trim/lumber, etc.
  21. 1972~ LeMans, series 2D Luxury LeMans, series 2G LeMans Sport was a sub-series under the base Lemans (both series 2D). GTO did return to option status for '72, available on the series 2D 2-dr sedan & 2-dr hardtop. This was also a return for the GTO: to offer a 2-dr sedan- last seen in '67. There was a GT option package for the LeMans in '72 : same base equipment as on the previous year GT-37, of course with "GT" badging only vs. "GT-37".
  22. 72,000 ?? "Not a success" ?? For a crude 2-seat roadster, that's pretty damned decent, IMO. Only ones I'm remotely familiar with (and that's to say- not at all), are the Nash-Healeys: 254 built from '52-53.
  23. If PA is requiring a notarized signature of the seller, then the seller needs to go to the notary & get his signature stamped. I doubt a PA notary is going to stamp a NYS title you hand him. Wouldn't some NY State gov DMV website have the answer, or at least the contact info to get that answer?
  24. >>"1970 came in at 1419 units"<< This is GT-37s only, correct ? Cool info- will have to make note of it. My source (Standard Catalog of American Cars) is already speckled with penned-in corrections, so the incorrect attribution of '5802' for both years doesn't surprise me.
  25. Shell Rotella-T in the DuraMax. Pennzoil or NAPA (non-synthetics) in the wife's GP... tho usually the dealer changes it as opposed to me.
