1. My bro-in-law has owned a '69 350 'bird for many years. Once, it breathed fire thru short duals and Tri-P, but I have not seen it in a lo-oong time and all that while it's been outside. Must be close to death. Med blue with a black interior. My brother has a '68 'bird race car, 406, PowerGlide, 4.56s, roll cage. Another med blue with a black interior- real nice shape. Car ran a best of 11.4 with a bum motor, currently that motor is apart. I never cared for the '69's grille & headlight bezels and that thick black gasket that shows; to the point if I was in the market for a 1st gen 'bird it's a deal breaker. I do like the '67-69 overall, a lot, but they are too small for my tastes.
2. Back when I got braces, I had to have my FIRST molars (the ones farthest forward) pulled- all 4. Braces closed the gap. I had 68 teeth and more room had to be made. I have all 4 wisdoms and they're fine & dandy back there.
3. >>"That is CR's way of saying "Pushrods suck". "<< It; in a nutshell. Go check on what they said about your '99, that was undoubtedly "coarse" also. Northstar has the best advice IMO; contact the regional service manager. And for your 'final' service visit, take your car to another dealership- obviously a Cadillac store is also a possibility. Sometimes a different set of eyes finds the problem right off.
4. Ford offered a 2.2L flathead V-8 (136 CI) in the late '30s- I've seen one on a stand- it looked more like a model than a 'real' motor.
5. My father has a Lucerne CX and I've driven it a few times: it's so quiet I couldn't tell it was running from inside. Quiet Tuning is not 'hype'. Understand your frustration, but it sounds like an assembly error or defective part- the former something a TSB would not be addressing. It's not something anyone who hasn't had the problem & resolved it is going to be able to make a suggestion about.
6. I've heard that most gas brands often have 'cleaner' fuels on the top octane rating only: the opening post states the 'cleanliness' is on all octane ratings.
7. It's just sad how much 'nothing new' it brings to the segment. There's simply no reason to consider such an underwhelming rookie.
8. >>"Honda Ridgeline... driveline issues "<< Do tell. 3.42 behind a 5.3 to pull a mere 3000 lbs? No problem- don't even worry about it. Only thing I would add if it doesn't have one factory is a trans cooler.
9. That's one awesome interstate hauler. People with the (assumedly) kind of money are going to put in these types of upgrades- seems there'd be a market for one already done. 11 forward speeds, 610 TRQ, must be able to pull a house off it's foundation. I dunno; I like it.
10. "icon" of what, exactly? You mean gamers, right? It's a subaru- they've yet to design even a mildly attractive car- so this lives up fully to that expectation.

That's IT!

I vote prefabbed bathroom, because it always looks like $h! to me.
12. Maybe you have dummy brake lights... If: yes turn signal, no brake light, no taillight- probably a fuse.
13. I like the Safety Buzzer concept; like I said, my '59 has a tiny window with a drum that shows speeds by 10 from 20 to 110. How cool that this car was made when a manufacturer could openly acknowledge their buyers would be taking their cars to over 110 MPH?

As one who values fact over all, I've jumped into the trenches and slugged it out over at Wiki. There was no 'fact checking' performed on those articles I had to fight tooth and nail with the self-appointed, ego-stroking 'experts' over there just to get a laughable mess of innuendo & opinion striken and some black & white put in. For an online 'information' source, it is fraught with erroneous entries... it's NOT an assumption. Sure, perhaps the majority of entries are reliable, but in that I've cleaned up a dozen or more automotive entries myself, I wouldn't ever blindly rely on it at random.
15. Fly- By all accounts the '56 Impala was destroyed. The '54 Strato-Streak and the '55 Strato-Star's whereabouts are unknown, no whispers as to survival, strongly believed that both these Pontiacs were destroyed. The '55 Biscayne DOES have a hideous headlight treatment and a strange toothy mug, but from the side & rear it has a lot of the same funky clunky charm the 1st gen Corvairs have. If that happens to butter your biscuit... Hey- absolutely ANY domestic dream car that survived, I bow to and appreciate. Even the {gulp!} Biscayne.
16. Damn you Raven, do you know what you put me thru on this?? j/k Sheesh. Again- you have no cruise componentry underhood, I am back to thinking --esp with your low/no option 225-- that this is the Safety Buzzer, which was standard on '65 Electras (can't find detailed enough info for '66).

Short-term economists agree: take the money & run. >>"We are a free market capitalist society that has allowed us to become the largest, most powerful economy in the world"<< Pretty sure that occurred before we became an open free market to the world, not since.
18. A f'ing gorgeous black ('62?) Studebaker GT Hawk (Walt- you know this one) Corvair 95 panel van- white with a red insert: US Route 1 '69-70 Nova coupe with Front Runners/slicks and a parachute (NHRA requirement for over 150MPH in the quarter)- on the street & haulin ass. '29 Ford Model AA 1-Ton truck project Spring is in the air; time to blow the cobwebs out of the vintage iron. Picked up 2 extra 20" Budds for my '40 COE, hope like hell to get it on the road this summer- should be fun to pull up reee-eal close to brand new 7-series' and S-classes at the light... in the mirror: nutin' but grille. BEATINU
19. Thank God you spoke up, Cananopie. The general tone up to your post has been most inexplicable & most distressing. The Enclave is the best of breed in this segment in my book.
20. It should go without saying that finding a concept car 'in the wild' or in someone's garage after decades of slumber, is my all-time favorite daydream. The (full-size) Club deMer & the '56 Olds Golden Rocket have been rumored to be in Jersey.... I keep my eyes open all the time.
21. I really like it, and this as a lifelong Pontiac fan (I've owned 7 so far, wife has owned 2). The 2nd Arrowhead features fine upward-angled lines in the background- hopefully they show up well in the pic. Looks very sharp, and for what is in reality quite minor in revision; very fresh. I'd green-light it first thing Monday morning. Sorry for the moire' in the scan- my software has no provision for counter-acting this. The pic is from an G8 article in Smoke Signals, the monthly magazine of the Pontiac-Oakland Club International. Enjoy.
22. 'Lopping one bank off' a V-10 would give you an I-5. 420 HP for the future M3 when the outgoing CTS-V has 400?? Umm, OK...
23. Damn: a dummy knob. Like I said- I'm surprised Buick did this even once this far back. It would be freaky-weird to have cruise on relatively 'stripper' Electra anyway. Sorry- RF!
24. Don't get all caught up in "new!!". If the frame is competitive with others on the market, it does not matter in the least how many model years old it is. Did you ever have any defects or problems or weaknesses with your HD frames? No? Then what's the problem? My brother ran a straight axle 1-ton GMC for years, he recently bought an '07 GMT-800 3500 Duramax and says it rides so much better. This is a dually utility body with a diesel carrier- it goes offroad daily to service machines, it plows snow, it hauls equipment & trailers. He has no desire to go back to a straight axle. Did you have any IS axle problems on your trucks, or do you know anyone who's broken them? Or is this just a perception issue ('Straight axles are tough, IS is for pansies' sort of thing?) Duramax with 3.73s will spin the tires on dry payment, with a 6-speed you don't need 4.10s. It's not a deficiency unless you are in a bench-hauling ('bench-racing') competition... in other words; a brochure pissing contest, which sounds like your scenario from here ("GM probably won't be making it to the finish line first in the pulling compotitions.") Are you staging towing races with your Chevy and some Fords & Dodges?? I currently drive an '04 2500 HD Duramax, tho I have not yet towed with it. I have zero complaints and I could care less what Joe Blow on the jobsite has under his rig; mine suits my needs fantastically.
