  1. hhr... yuck... i love my truck for thin pillars tho... i doubt it would do well in a rollover, but it takes a lot to roll a dually, expecially one thats never loaded...
  2. must not have had stabilitrac... seriously i've seen that system tested, and the only time i've ever seen it fail, is when the vehicle becomes airborne... via running over something(Big), or going off the road/bridge but if stablitrac cant save you, most likely 2.5 times vehicle weight isnt going to save you either...
  3. i know when they talked about 2.5 times weight, GM scoffed and said their standards were higher then that already... but with stabilitrac, how often does a GM vehicles actually roll over, only times i've ever seen em flip is when there is nothing to be done, they are just on a huge slope... drive off a cliff or something...
  4. okay, ive got a question... is the reason hardtop's arent appreciated in saftey standards because the b pillar provides middle support, or because a & c pillars are not strong enough to support the entire blast... okay let me rephrase, if your hardtop was to rollover, are we concerned the roof itself is going to collapse, or the (4, instead of 6) pillars wont hold under the weight... so... if the camaro were to be a hardtop, at a little under 4k lbs, it needs to supprt 2.5 times or 10,000 lbs... so if they used kevlar underneath the sheet metal, we'd be fine... sounds expensive
  5. that should be the profile of a vette... probably close to c7... driver is jsut about sitting on rear axel... quite close to it..
  6. hrmm it'll be interesting, yea these are 05 results... GM's quality took a big spike in late 06... so we'll see...
  7. i think ur mocking me...
  8. i'd be one to test the laws of physics, i hate people telling me its impossible... i wish to be an engeneer at many times of my life... i know that with enough metal in the right places, a hardtop would provide enough strength, but you might have a top heavy car lol... steel titanium and alluminum would probably all be needed for such a roof, as they all possess individual strength properties. likely the exotics and or the high class could afford to have such metals as a frame, although from my understanding racetracks require steel frame, so perhaps it would be self defeating... i wonder if customers would consider a vehicle if it had structural support in the passanger cabin to allow for a pillarless apperance.

thats not too far off from what they were when i was at the dealership, 07's... high would have been around 16,3 and they didnt include leatherette... 2 years later, with a little price inflation, and a bit better model... might be a modest increase in price... cars are going up in price... and if the general can sell them at whatever price, let the general work... lets see what the yaris can do for comparison sake... i remember when gm made the aveo the only new car under 10k... was kind of a big thing, but we were a truck dealership couldnt cater to people... well for a 08 yaris, with every option, (doesnt have letherette, or a sunroof)was 17,380 and thats a 2008 model. for the 08 aveo, with every option, (does come with sunroof, no letherette) 16,215... bout the same as they were when i left the dealership
  10. hey if we werent pissing it away, i'd have no a/c... and beleive you me, when i say it gets hot around here... with a 3 digit low... it never really cools off...
  11. hrmm being in the army, you think that i could never forget how rationally they think... ohh well... common sense is not so common
  12. if that were true, and the government knew of it... that would probably provide a much better stimulus on the price of power and other things... better long term advantage
  13. there is a winning stratagy, and im not going to say that chrysler didnt try with their cars, but somewhere along the way, the funds were wasted with poor perception and brand quality. all i ever heard was, i'd buy a dodge truck, but never a car, haha i heard you cant even get it all the way home.. or something stupid... GM got lazy, thinking instead of making cars for everyone, just make cars for those who are easy to please. instead of making desireable cars, they made them appliances, 4 wheels 4 doors an engine and a transmission. extra was optionable, but see your dealership...
  14. im not saying its not a good source of power, im saying if every american (300 million americans) had wind generators in their back yards the effects would be lessened... most likely to a point of pointlessness. just like if u put 300 million hydrogenerators in the missisippi or colorodo river, the water would cease to move, instead of provide electricity... just my thoughts on the subject, isnt law or anything... so get the f@#k over it wind is caused by gravity (sun moon and earths) effects on waters, and the daily temperature increase relitivity...
  15. to be completely honnest, people buy cars on emotion, and previous experiance, and i have not consistatanly heard good remarks on any American brand since the 60's... so, without style, and without quality... there was no reason to choose the american brands, and since no one offered style, reliablity was the only option, and that wasnt going to be consistant if u purchased a american made vehicle, you would have a lot of 'lemons'
  16. well one thing no one really talks about, is saddam used to give the U.S. discounted oil. in 2002 i remember filling up a tank or two of gasoline at about 1.29 in California... in my opinion, this is not supposed to be a political thread, but no one said it couldnt be a trade thread... realistically free trade is only a good thing for us, if we export more then we import, but that is simply not the case currently, and hasnt been for at least a decade or more... i think it was back in 86 that warren buffett started complaining about the trade deficit. thats all im going to add on that topic.. the reason for the oil being so expensive, is mostly because the value of the dollar has collapsed.
  17. this is what u mean? hrmm i guess your right, never paid any attention to that, i figured the hard top refered to the actual sheetmetal covering the rear hatch/window. hrmm that was a good autoshow... good concept
  18. in many states the prius had already been receiving a tax credit... and the japanese government has been subsidizing much of the costs according to Press...
  19. yes the government pays postage, the USPS is the worlds worst company, and has not seen profit, or breakeven point for decades... doesnt matter if the government pay postage, it finances the losses found at USPS...
  20. wind is not a renewable source of energy... there is only so much of it, and adding too much resistance in the air, would make each generator useless...
  21. its just that i havent ever figured out what is so special about it... i guess open air feeling is good? not my cup of tea, dont really like convertables... but i do like the uncluttered roof line. the major thing that confused me was when lutz said the camaro wouldnt be a hardtop, in that thread, you guys complained and complained... but i saw no difference from the concept to the production model... i was perplexed
  22. ... umm how my old boss did it almost killed a guy... this one employee would always come in with a big slurpy... and one of the other guys would always take a huge swig, like half the damn cup... one day he got tired of his drink getting drank, so he put some drainol in it... well, sure enough the guy took a big of a sip he could before the drainol collapsed his throat, said he couldnt breath or anything... rushed to the hospital... never drank the other guys drink again...
  23. couldnt an asset that has depreciated in value be considered a loss, even if no cash or mortagage was involved?
  24. dont sell cars currently, although wish i could again, damn i loved it... but im an enthisiast based on 4th gen f-bodys... not anything that has had a hard top like some of my friends classics
