  1. i like that quote.. never heard it before...
  2. well... no suprise here... keep it low, and i'll keep buying... if it raises... i'll start selling, its a beautiful plan... but if i sold now i'd be like 5k in the hole i started buying at 37.5... thought it wouldnt go below 35... started buying again at 23... thought it wouldnt go much lower, was able to sell a bit at 25, then started buying again at 20 then again at 17.60 (that 25 year low) then again at 11.30 (55 year low) if i had more money i'd buy more... but ive already got 18k betting on them to recover to mid 20's by this time next year at least
  3. the question should have been... what modifications would quickly allow chrysler to have a presents in other markets... if you have low efficency due to high capacity and low production, it would be a good idea, to increase proudction to capacity, and export the remainder, the USD encourages these actions now, that would allow Chrysler to compete better then Ford or GM because of local production vrs US production. perhaps Europe is not the answer, but latin america? middle east? who has the fewest regulations, that any vehicle would be easily trasferable? Chrysler has options, thier owner has pockets... well they might be dwindling quickly with the purchase of GMAC and Chrysler and a lot of other things that are in the auto sector, didnt cerbrus buy magnaflow, and/or slp? sorry i forget... and iirc that transaction was just as costly as chrysler lol... anywho, Cerbrus should not be afraid of its most difficult investment, they just need to keep working it, where is Pres anyway... where has that mouthpeice been?
  4. ohh yea, you guys blow things up, because you are proud of people like me who get blown up on a daily basis... ahh i understand the tradition now...
  5. well the camry only has about a 50% domestic part content, and only about half of them are actually assembled here... so basically this article is saying although the camry is the #1 sold vehicle in america, (yes it is beating the F-series) its not made here, by any measure...
  6. read the signature... he said it right...
  7. why do people use the 4.8 on the GMT900's to show fuel efficency, the 5.3 returns better results... yep (14/19 vrs 14/20) lol those are so much worse then 07 epa results lol... used to be 18/22 impala vrs avalon, not to fair seeing the avalon is bigger then the impala, not to grab toyota's ass... but ... i guess i havent compared the vehicles since the 08 epa changes...
  8. yea, i think ur wrong on a couple of those accounts...
  9. free trade is a bitch... its alright, there soon wont be any chocolate left in this world... good job crop diseases
  10. when i was at the dealership, every silverado had better fuel ecconomy except the 6.0 and every tahoe was better then any equivelent engine choice on the 4runner? (i forget what the comparrable model is) each suburban had better fuel ecconomy then the sequoia when the GMT900's came out, they were the best on fuel across every engine and all the competition. being in kuwait, i dont pay as much attention to what new developments of other automakers, we've got the GMT900 here and thats all i care about many of the Chevy's have a few points higher on the city milage then their competing toyota, this gives GM an advantage in average fuel ecconomy. my brother's tundra averages about 14-15 mpg city/highway... my average customer of GMT800 and GMT900 usually say an average of 17.5-18.6 on combined fuel ecconomy. one advantage toyota and honda still incorperate, is on all base level vehicles include a manual transmission option, which on a corolla and camry, you can squeeze another 2-4 mpg at highway speeds due to less drivetrain resistance. there was a time when the Colorodo came out it had the highest highway fuel ecconomy of any truck... but i really hate those atlas motors... torquy as they are, they will consume as much fuel as you let them. and if you push em hard, they lose their balance very quickly and give u a rough idle. equinox, is a sack of sh*t trailblazer is supposed to be one of the worst fuel gulping vehicles on the road for its size, many consumers even a magazine had noted consumers receiving and average fuel ecconomy of around 12... again i hate the atlas series... Impala, gets better fuel ecconomy then the avalon, but in some cases losses to the camry, i beleive v6 for v6 it is comparable. Cobalt, cant compete with the corolla, if GM's goal in life is to tune the v8 corvette motor, toyota's would have been to tune the 1.8 liter (i think it still is) my brother's 00 corolla, with a manual received average... average! fuel ecconomy of 38-41 mpg, didnt really matter how hard he would push it, he always got that... it was the same motor pulled out of the celica and detuned slightly... malibu, has a chance to compete with the camry, just needs a bigger budget on the engine, perhaps a high feature v6 engine that was tuned for milage instead of performance... but again losses the comparison to the camry's 4 cyl motor that has been redevelouped in the last couple decades aveo, again no comparason, looks better then the yaris, thats about all i can say there... but the milage goes in par with the feel of the whole car, and it really doesnt have any respect being on the same lineup as every other chevy. corvette, is the leader in fuel ecconomy per hp... did i miss anything? express vans... lol, im not going to go there... do they still sell the uplander? the astro would be better on fuel and selling... but whatever... hopefully the impala zeta, will be refined to make each
  11. a small terrif might backfire, but we have less to lose then other countries... the only way it would backfire is if somehow we lost our agriculture export... the major companies that actually export might include deree catapillar microsoft intel, GE, General Mills, Kellogg, Hersheys, etc... maybe 1 or two companies per industry and thats it excluding agriculture. almost every product sold in america is from foriegn soil. if america is to become debt free, it must pinch a little off the top of every other country. free trade is not something that is in the best intrest of america... never will never has been... America is best isolated on our own continent. and if people want to buy our foods & weapons, good for them, otherwise we'll be here...
  12. they dont need a bailout, but stop helping the foriegns... whats wrong with a small terrif to encourage american products? i dont think any leader from any country would concur that its healthy
  13. yea, it'll help me level out my buy in the high 30's... so far i've accumulated 1100 shares, hoping for another 2-300 next month if prices remain down, not sure if i'll keep buying if they reboud to mid-high teens... depends on how convincing lutz and wagooner are about 09 year... camaro is the only debut next year?
  14. from the view of a CEO, it is always terrible to be told how your product should perform or be built. General Motors spends billions per year in research, product development and design. While already acheiving class leading fuel ecconomy in multiple segments (with certain options for the cars), it becomes difficult to forsee an extreme increase in fuel ecconomy over the next 12 years. Some avenues that need to be researched, but one can always look to the history books, on how to make an ecconomy car. Things that are ways to fix the problem, that also reduce the cost of production. Smaller wheels (width, not diamater), also reduced friction tires (but these can might be not so cost effective) Less features per vehicle, aka less weight Lower the vehicles weight rating to allow reduced strength in structure(less metal, less weight). Things that may solve the problem, but will be a cost to the end consumer: more features to each engine, to reduce fuel consumpsion. i.e. active fuel management, direct injection. smaller engines with forced induction reduced strength powertrain, i.e. an engine that produces less torque and a transmission that has a lower torque rating. use of alternate fuels like deisel to produce similar fuel ecconomy. obviously GM's loop hole is ethonal, iirc vehicles that are able to use ethonal will have some exclusion to the ratings, so this will probably include GMT900's hybrid technology generally increases city fuel ecconomy by 50% but doesnt help highway milage, but its an option Things that may solve the problem, but will be at a cost to the manufacture. redesign platforms and incorperate (more) weight saving technologys such as hydroformed steel/alluminum, even in the ecconomy cars redesign aerodynamics of mainstream vehicles. but with all these thoughts in mind, none of them actually have any dollar value without thousands or millions of dollars worth of consideration, planning, and research.
  15. possibly, they say its going to be in the 'To GM' subform, there hasnt been anything in that forum for over a half a year... why isnt this in that forum pinned at the top discussing the rules of said topics. not saying its not been done already, but has anyone tried to contact lutz or wagooner to help provide topics, (if lutz is willing to post on the fastlane, he should be able to once every few weeks, throw us a bone, about something he is indecisive about.) his experiance does not exceed human perception. Any of the GM leaderships troubles are worthy of discussion, and are easily contrasted for pros and cons on this forum.
  16. whoever is facilitating this feature, ought to get on the ball... its not always a good idea to introduce something thats supposed to happen in a couple days and it be a couple weeks with no progress. if there will be a subform dedicated to CEO decisions, it should be created. If there will be topics that are consistant with those of Rick wagoner or Bob Lutz they should be stated. just as car enthusiast dont appreciate the automanufacture taking 3-4 years to convert a concept to a production model, internet junkies dont appreciate forums and topics to take longer then they ought to.
  17. okay, well before i yell endlessly at my wife, for being... stupid... how do others couples and married folks in here handle this sort of situation. recently married, 2 days away from first anaverisary. I came into the realtionship with 30k on credit card dept. she came in with about 10k. so obviously im the one who doenst have much room to talk, but due to my situation, i have leared a valueable lesson about money. but, before i left for kuwait, we had discussed our plans to both be dept free, by the end of 2008. and we both had the income and or the means, if spending was under control. well, spending has become out of control, at least for her, although her cards were maxed to begin with, she has done very little to pay them off, and on some accounts acrewed late fees. but the biggest thing, there about 4 large sums of money since the first, that we had talked about using to pay off eachothers dept (this is the worst part) some for me and some for her, well, without my control, she has squandered all of it (about 8k) without even letting me use some. now that i have realized all this, im furrious but shes asleep, and im trying to figure out a rational way to discuss the situation. anyone have any suggestions ohh durring this time, i have paid off 2 and a half of my cards. while still paying the mortgage
  18. during my year + at the dealership, i only made 1 cash deal that i can remember... guy wanted to put it on his credit card for some frequent flier miles, or something, but we didnt allow more then 3k on the card due to steep fees (4-5%) i think but he just wrote us a check... it was more common with used cars, but then with used cars your not talking about a 25k trail blazer...
  19. thats cause the malibu's sales records are 40 years old... not gonna happen and this is gm, not toyota
  20. yea since 96 its been leased... but... probably a good decision, the owner, probably wanted out, and GM saw an oppertunity to reduce fixed costs
  21. you'd be suprised... people dont usually think things out... also, gm already did this in 06 was it? i think it was just a trial program for a month or two... but it was on top of rebates, which made it good... but i think it was a little different i forget. kind of like hybrids, people really dont do the math before buying... and if it sounds good... kinda get gas rolled into the loan, stupid, but it works... its good for chrysler financial, if its financed through them.
  22. one of these days i ought to go, see what its like...
