  1. its called elminating free trade... or limiting to countries that play be the same rules... it appears china has screwed themselves with a labor law, manditory wages... seems still a bit low, but a lower bidder will always do nicely
  2. do you honnestly think GM cares about the dealers? they want to reduce them, so why not take away their means for business, their profit... i got in the dealership in august, after the inventories were all blown out of 05... we still had the truck and suv market cournered with more vehicles then anyone.. let me give you the run down, when business is slow, i mean less then 100 cars per weekend... dealers will focus on per unit profit... making sure to make 'pounders' with every sale... when the ecconomy is bad, consumers need the products, and the manufactures, need the consumers to afford the product. you are bitching about this years GME being less incentive then previously... well thats because GM is still cutting back on incentives... GM must do what it takes to survive. and selling in volume, has been GM's cheif advantage for the last 70+ years... ignoring that would be foolish, as market share shrinks...
  3. just to let you knowm, if it doesnt have nav dvd... its expensive, at least our dealership always kept a tight lock and key on them due to their price tag... perhaps they have come down in the last year or two... there is also a get the dvd's to play while in drive, a lot of my customers ended up with the mod... not too expensive, forget what it involves...
  4. ive been hearing this rumor for over 6 years... until i see i wont beleive it... also people have been begging for it in the express van... speaking of express when will that be redesigned on the GMT900 frame?
  5. hrmm, im no expert, but this vehicle will be affordable to most within a few years. the development costs have been tremendous no doubt, the batteries cost have been uncontrollable, and as Toyota Honda Nissan all find their own suppliers of lithium the cost of the batteries will loose its exclusive, and its hefty pricetag. I beleive this will be a money maker for GM and GM underestimates its demand. at 40k a pop, this ecconobox will replace the essuvee for roads to profit. the volt will prove to be the GMT900 of cars, as they refined the industry, GM's volt will change every chevy within 5 years, to have the same sophistication as the volt, similar frame work, light weight, lower coefficenet of drag, and better aerodynamics... as the corvette was GM's bloodlines of the 'SS' trim, GM's research and development that bleed over to every segment, the volt can also hold that symbol for the XFE models... I see 'car salesmen' talk in the discussion of the estmated MSRP... telling nothing and revealing no information... I feel the volt will have options similar to the hybrid tahoe, basically a fully loaded model, and later XFE models will come when capacity is enhanced...
  6. well gm said there would be a pretty considerable price hike for 2009, so it wouldnt really matter.. and employee discount doesnt hurt GM's pocket, it hurts dealers pocket books... but in actuality the dealers like the promo because it brings a huge flux of customers, and it will fill showrooms and move used vehicles... employee discount removes all profit from the dealership and gives it to the customer, the philosophy is, if GM isnt making money, why should its dealers, because someday, GM cannot last through the losses... the employee discount this time around is more valueable because it will bring a large portion of customers that havent looked for a car for 3 years, and will notice a difference in GM's products... and besides, it is a good time frame since the last employee discount... I honnestly think this is good news, and a good deal for GM... although it hurts resale, i doubt resale will be affected, we are about to experiance massive inflation, and the price of used vehicles is about to climb rather then fall... so it really doesnt matter. I'm certain GM has only applied GME discount on vehicles with a certain surplus, days in inventory... this will help 3rd quarter reduction in inventory, as well as bolster consumer confidence, and increase factory production aka revenue. CTS is probably included to shuffle consumers to cadillacs door step... likely they have already sold out and are just delivering fresh faces to the dealership to flip onto another vehicle... pretty standard in the industry...
  7. its a marketing thing... Chevy gets 5 spoke GMC gets 6 Pontiac gets 6 i beleive... Cadillac 8 buick 7 spokes saturn, i forgot... saab i beleive is 6 soke each brand has their own spoke number, as if 6 spokes are better then 5... (some of these vehicles get 5 twin spokes like on the ltz malibu everyone enjoys)
  8. uplander is GM's queen... Crown Vic is Fords queen as always and magnum is Dodges queen
  9. lol didnt know that... well i was pretty certain it didnt sell the hybrd there...
  10. i know there will be no silver bullet, and there will be nothing to revive GM completely. I know if i had GM's parts bin, i could put together a working car within a week, might not look pretty, might not be reliable... but it could be done. any additional time just cements it's refinement. The biggest obstical for GM on the Flex concept, was not actually GM's obstical to overcome, it was the battery manufactures. I might make an ass of myself on this assumption but fuel cell development is not a propultion system, rather a generator for a vehicle similar to the volt or flex platform. meaning GM has been working this for over almost a decade, i'm sure the propultion is of working order and has been for some time. keep in mind, lutz just recently(6 months ago) did his test drive on the camaro, and that is due first quarter of 09, so the volt being test driven a few weeks ago shows its progress and development. the body pannels of a car are one of the last details to work out, while a pretty important detail, the guts of the car, are by far the most complex. I'd say it would be possible to see this car sooner then GM says, while im not going to hold my breath, because i've been let down time and time again by GM, lutz knows the importance of this vehicle, which could suggest it going slowly or quickly depending on which side of technology GM wants to be on.
  11. ive heard that been said about GM's products a time or two... SSR & aztec come to mind...
  12. I'm sure most people receive these email scams from time to time. from time to time i read these scams because they have an interesting title or seem like they could be from an aquantance or someone who wants me have certain knowledge about something. I read this one today, an email I received, I will share with you because not only does it involve a cash prize, but a Toyota... I believe it to be interesting to involve a global company in some sort of human resource finding scam... your thoughts? I edited the reference number just in case it is somehow linked to my email
  13. im in an agreement here, its really necessary for this as well as any product to offer the manual transmission. the public wants fuel efficency, they may enjoy the sporty feel of a manual to acheive better fuel ecconomy. obviously the percentage of buyers who want a luxuary car to offer an automatic is going to be smaller, but a performance vehicle, or a truck ought to never neglect that option... compact cars, ought to push the benifits of a standard transmission, as well as many midsize sedans that arent to classy, for example, chevy malibu ought to emphasize the manual, and make consumers pay for auto's, where as a buick lacross might emphasize the smoothness and luxuary of the epsilons II's 6 speed auto. hopefully that option is a no brainer to GM, but GM tries to invent value by taking away things consumers sometimes might prefer... "we used to make cars for everyone, now we specialize in making one car for you, which one would you enjoy most?"
  14. in 2003, i asked some friends who was the largest automaker in the world, and who sold the most vehicles in the united states. most said ford or toyota... perception is not reality...
  15. the original estimate was late 2009, as a 2010 model, and then they changed the timeline, but now they say its on track, or on time... which timeline are they refering?
  16. hrmm looking at the vehicles due to arrive, i can estimate 600-3/4 million extra annual vehicles for 2009-2010 time frame, should be a delight to the monthly sales figures.
  17. i beleive this vehicle will be availbe in show rooms before GM is saying it will be, they said all engeneering will be done next month, they just have to finnish up final tests on 50 preproduction models... sounds to me like this could be in showrooms in the next 6-9 months... hrmm, alluminum would be a costly mistake for GM, unless it dramatically reduces weight and aerodynamics... i guess, reducing say 500 lbs would contribute to a bit less energy required to get her up and moving, but likely she'll be heavy, with batterys, a motor, a generator, transmission, battery coolers, regular radiator, likely, she'll weigh in more then the malibu, with an all aluminum frame
  18. hrmm looks like a pt cruiser... i doubt a equinox would be a good canidate for such option, maybe hhr, but eitherway, would reduce overall fuel ecconomy, and probably make a black spot for any brand.
  19. they had one in the 90's everyone made fun of it... guess the public doesnt want fuel efficency... geo's was years ahead of its time, should have come right now...
  20. well i havent sold anything since 06... when it was still the 'in' thing to do to to buy a tahoe and what not... probably today i'd have a different client base
  21. this is an interesting approch... cant wait to see how this works out... I'd agree, that almost all the 'new' cobalts i sold were to people under 30, used was a different subject.
  22. gm already has the best fuel efficency for all fullsized vehicles, so what more merrit do you want? they are trying to fill capacity and fill consumers garages... complain if u want, but what else would you do... keep the product as it was, and assume the war on oil is over, might as well play chicken with iran...
  23. hummer desperately needs h4... malibu should have been stronger, im not sure if its not at full production, or certain options arent avalible yet, but it should still sell more, i think the camaro will bring more buyers for the malibu...
  24. me - "hey man what weighs more, a ounce of feathers or an ounce of gold?" coworker - "duhh they weigh the same..." coworker - "... wonder how much an ounce of gold weighs..." another instnace... coworker - "man have u tried these banana chips? its strange, they taste like banana's, but they crunch like a chip"
