That's pretty much my recollection of Toyota's lineup, other than the trucks.

  4. Congrats, BV. Keep it up.
  5. If the V6 model also gets good suspension bits, this may now be my favorite GM vehicle.
  6. They are all aesthetically challenged. The xD gets the underwhelming 128-hp engine from the Corolla. The Highlander gains 500 pounds, but the interior appears to be a big upgrade.

If you're there for only a few days, I'd concentrate in the L.A. area and maybe head to San Diego. If you have a few more days, head north along the coast and pass through Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, and Monterey, and end up in the San Francisco Bay Area. I wouldn't stay in the Bay Area for more than a couple of days unless you want to take some nature diversions or are into museums and shopping. If you like the National Parks, take Highway 99 and stop by Sequoia National Park, Kings Canyon National Park, and then Yosemite. There's no bad time of year to visit California, though rain can spoil things, though it's pretty sporadic. Spring would be the best time of year. Summer can get hot in Southern California and the Central Valley, but it's a tolerable, dry heat. Fog can be really bad in the Central Valley in the winter and spring after it rains in the early mornings and late nights.
  8. The 4.3 liter diesel V6 was a good engine. The earlier 4.3 liter diesel V8 was junk, like the 5.7 liter engine.

  10. Two of my three current vehicles don't have front plates, and it hasn't gotten me into trouble yet. Years ago when I got a speeding ticket in my Integra, the CHP guy went to check the front of the car specifically to see if there was a plate, and since there wasn't, I got a fix-it ticket for it. Some municipalities are really aggressive in ticketing vehicles for this in downtown areas. As for enforcement agencies, some have license plate scanners than continuously read license plates. Obviously, the lack of front license plates will hurt the effectiveness of this technology.

FOG, I'm sorry things didn't work out. You have strong viewpoints, and not necessarily to everybody's liking, but you've always been pure, unvarnished FOG. Hope you decide not to take off for good.
  15. GM used to have the best mid-size sedans, but GM let the old FWD A-bodies wither. The W-bodies were supposed to put GM back into the game and give Ford competition to the then-new Taurus, but then GM lost the mid-size market for good. They weren't bad cars at all, just a step behind the competition. Of the dozen or so W-bodies I've driven over the years, I found the last Regals to be the most agreeable. They had understated style, drove well, and were comfortable. I never had the chance to drive the Intrigue, but I imagine I would have liked it. On the other hand, I feel the G-bodies are much more substantial cars for just a little bit more money.

Al definitely has a chance. There are plenty of personalities who have gone into politics, but Al has some credibility based on his political talk show. Though not everybody will share his views, he does not come across as an empty blowhard.
  20. I was hoping to do The Drive, but I never made it to Vegas. If there's any time that GM should be reviving Autoshow in Motion, it is this fall, with the GMT900 trucks, Outlook, Acadia, and Aura still pretty fresh, and the new Enclave, Malibu, CTS, G8, and Vibe out.
