There's nothing 'bad' about front-wheel drive. Alot of the people who bitch about it simply like to bitch and complain because cars they'd never consider buying have a FWD layout. Don't let anyone shame you for having a FWD Monte. A supercharged SS will likely kick their ass anyway.

Let it never be said that Pontiac owners lack passion for their cars. Honestly, IMO, alot of it can be justified. We've all talked about how the interior can be improved and a car carrying the GTP designation should have more oomph to it. As for the review itself, again, it picks at some things that are traits shared by all coupes (big, heavy doors, cramped rear) and I don't see any credibility in the 'complicated stereo' comment as they do a poor job at explaining why this is. Seems like an 'uncomfortable seat'-style copout that is more of a jab than a legitimized complaint. Why are they uncomfortable? Why is it complicated? As for the Lienerts, this isn't their worst review. Remember the DTS one? I swear Paul was molested by a DeVille when he was five the way it was written...

The Durango is a pretty big mess of a design to begin with, so the Aspen does manage to cover a bit of that up.

Once again, I must point out the question they aren't asking: if this is so humiliating for domestic manufacturers as these analysts love to highlight, then is there even an adjective to describe the sentiment for European manufacturers who not only have more problems than US cars and nearly twice as many as the Japanese, but whose ratings also "haven’t changed substantially in the last four years" despite everyone else improving? After all, US cars have always been cheap, low-quality garbage. Weren't Volkswagens, Mercedes, et al once regarded as the best in their class? World-beaters? Standard-bearers? Or is spending time in the shop a part of the kitsch of owning a European car, a time to gather with owners of other glitchy, overpriced imports and discuss how much better they are than plebian American crap?

Sketch Competition #3 General Motors People Mover Though I loathe the term, its in vogue, so I'll use it. So far, General Motors has been at best 'fair' in the minivan segement. With the car-based family utility segement entering a second rennaisance, now is the time for our GM to shine. Its your task to come up with a vehicle to not just compete in but perhaps redefine the segment. There are no design requirements, but use some common sense - a swoopy coupe won't cut it here. Keep in mind what makes minivans popular (utility) and why crossovers are desirable (design) and draw up something great with as many/few doors, as tall/low, long/short as you think is right. Also, brand it any division you want - Saturn to SAAB. Competition minimums are to include at least two of the following: Exterior shot- frontal from any angle or elevation Exterior shot- rear from any angle or elevation Interior shot- any perspective (dash, seating area, etc) Remember that your entry may be judged on overall presentation, so the more things you draw, the better; you can never draw too much of your concept. Get your pencils ready and let's show those designers a thing or two! Deadline: Monday, April 2nd Prize: Something GM-related. Something good. Good luck!

The interior gripes can be legitimized, though I don't get the headline "fails the luxury test"...what? However, alot of the bitches like unspacious rear seating and long, awkward doors are traits of pretty much every modern sportcoupe and could also be said about the Tiburon, tC, Eclipse, etc.

There are some really irritated by its presence; I'm not. I'm just irritated that its a styling and slight equipment upgrade from an Equinox instead of also having a more powerful drivetrain combo as befitting a Pontiac. But the person you know is a good example of why there is a need.

Even by CR's own admission did US makes score better - way better - than their European counterparts. Where's the humilation factor there? CR claims to be unbiased and wholly scientific in their writing, yet the facts prove otherwise. As Balthazar stated, their sample pool is extrodinarily limited, based mainly on the responses of their own subscribers. How many times have you read "Although unknown at this time, we predict reliability to be above average given this model's history" even though the car may be 100% new? CR reviews talk about seat comfort, ease of entry, and and other subjective 'feelings' without revealing the physical characteristics of the tester himself, which is wholly unscientific. I remember distinctly how a past comparo involving a LeSabre Custom, Avalon XLS, Bonneville SE, and Grand Marquis placed the Avalon heads and shoulder above the rest, owing to its "higher level of standard equipment" and "more controlled ride" while failing to recognize they chose base models of the other cars against a thousands-more uplevel trim of the Avalon. CR is living off the clout it had earned in the past, and not off any achievement or contribution its making today.

I don't understand why people continue to throw money away on Sentras. They're such junk its unbelievable. QX56 is down again. Surprise, surprise.

I don't know what's worse - the continuted plummet of RL sales or the fact that it still outsells the $22,000 Kia Amanti.
