  1. I don't think the hatch would sell in the USA, the sedan probably will. The GLB spawned off this platform is what is going to light up the sales chart I think. People love crossovers, and they love G-wagens but they can't afford G-wagens to they will buy the GLB. This car will give us a look at the interior and powertrains of all A/B-class, looks promising, I imagine the 2.0 will be the base engine here in the US.
  2. No, the V12 is rumored to be dead at the end of the current S-class/SL life cycle. The 73's are a 603 hp V8 plus a 204 hp electric motor.
  3. They don't actually still make the Azera do they? The Ionic should sell better than that, it is actually pretty nice and roomy inside for the price point. I think the Kona could be a hit for them and be a good boost. The Sonata seems to be falling apart even since the bland redesign they did on it a couple years ago.
  4. Lincoln sales: Ouch! But with that product line, that is what you get. Ford SUVs were down, clearly they lack crossover coupes.
  5. They trademarked other names so there is some rumor that they may change the C300 to C30, E300 to E30, etc so that regular models end with a 0 and AMG models end with a 3. Although that could be just for certain markets or maybe they won't do it at all. I think it dumb to change it, they already have Mercedes-Benz, Mercedes-Maybach, Mercedes-AMG to separate the model designations and people are already used to it.
  6. The S63 and S73 both have a 4 liter engine, so they can't use liters as a way to identify a car. Similarly, the E400, E43, E53, would all be 3 liters. When you add electric power it muddies those waters, so this is the easiest way to do it, they made an E43 and C43 in the past with a 4.3 V8, so really they just brought back an old name with different displacement. The important thing is they are pushing the engineering limits on the higher tier cars, we could get a GLS that does 0-60 in under 3 seconds, that gets better gas mileage than a V6 Traverse, and that seems crazy and pointless, but the fact that it is possible is exciting.
  7. I think it pretty obvious, if you have a G63 and a G73, that the G73 is the more powerful engine. That probably makes more sense than Camaro SS, Z28, ZL1, in which those model designations could be used in any order. The number designation though is less important to what is under the hood, when you talk about an 800 hp GLS compared to a 420 hp Escalade or 450 hp Navigator or 600 hp Urus.
  8. It makes total sense, S73 is faster than S63. They did make an SL73 limited edition in the 90s with the 7.3 liter V12 that became the Pagani Zonda engine. The 73 series is going to have an 800 hp hybrid system, I’d say that makes them the standard.

  10. Kia sells about 35,000 cars a month in Europe versus a big fat zero for Dodge, so no, Kia should not be shut down. FCA's problem is they have regional brands in a global world.
  11. Ok, outside of Ram and Jeep, time to shut it down. And I imagine 90% of Ram sales are in the USA. This is why Sergio needs to sell this company in pieces or just start closing brands.

  13. The Camry was up strong in a crossover market, so it proved good cars still sell. Conversely, bad cars, like the Lexus sedans are dead in the water and look like they are all ripe for the graveyard.
  14. Low month for the C-class, but Mercedes was #1 selling luxury brand. I feel like they don't even advertise AMG that much not to the masses anyway, but the car people know what they are, so I guess they just rely on the people reading car magazines to buy them.
  15. Just doing quick math in my head, it looks like the Equinox outsold the Spark, Sonic, Cruze, Malibu and Impala combined. This is probably why Ford wants to drop down to 2 or 3 car models. You could argue Chevy could replace those 5 cars with 2, and it will probably happen.

  17. I hate the current Lexus design theme, I think it looks bad on everything they make. The inside of this car seems dated, and I don't think it was that good of an interior 5 years ago, and the V6 in the GS350 has had the same hp since 2006. The lack of money they have put in this car makes me think it isn't going to be around much longer.

  19. Lexus has about 400 dealers I believe. Maybe Cadillac can sell some of their buildings to Genesis.
  20. They need crossovers in a bad way, crossovers are really the bulk of $30-60k vehicle sales whether they be from a luxury or non luxury brand. Getting that product mix right is step one, step two is the product. Their powertrains are dated, the G90's interior is at best on par with a C-class, and they lack any performance vehicles. I am not saying they can't do it, but they have to elevate their game and spend more money on product development. And that is where all these wanna-be luxury brands fall down. They don't have the volume or profit margins to justify spending $2 billion on developing one car, so they cut corners all over the place and it shows.
  21. Cutting from 350 dealers to 100 doesn't sound like a growth model. I get that they want their own dealership to make them seem like a stand alone brand and have the separate experience. But they need more models and better models if they want this to work at all. They could spend $50 million on a dealership building with a $100k a year salary chef providing gourmet lunches to service customers, but if the G80 is what they are selling it isn't going to make a difference.
  22. The Camaro and Mustang have a back seat though, not offering a back seat in the Z has been a sales killer. Pricing a base model Z 4 or 5 thousand dollars above a Mustang is a sales killer also.
  23. The problem with the 370Z is the price. And it always has been. The convertible has no back seat, the coupe I can't even remember if there was a back seat some years, if there was it was probably too small to use. So it is too small also. And it isn't cheap like a BRZ or Miata, they want V8 Mustang money for a smaller, less powerful less equipped car. The Z could work with a base 4 cylinder for $24,900 with a V6 model at $28,900
  24. Right, everyone craps on the CLA, which the CLA45 can dominate any Acura outside of the NSX. Acura's so called "precision performance" can't even beat the bottom feeder Mercedes. I am not buying FWD performance is on par with RWD.
  25. I got it! The RS1 , which will undoubtedly be a VW Polo GTI with 4 rings on the front.
