Nice... I guess a quarter of a million vehicles isn't that much. Naturally... I mean, god forbid we ever want to associate ourselves with what makes america so great. In typical revisionist fasion, we'd rather be yuppies. ***drumroll*** And 25% of the remainder is males who actually think they're females. (Also known as Acura loyalists) Now where does that leave Pontiac? Maybe... Just maybe.... They can throw in a pair of organic pants, a diversity sticker and birkenstocks instead of cash incentives. (Becuase we all know how this demographic is; they'll waste tons of money on "image causes" instead of actually spending it to make an honest difference) Seriously though, this isn't rocket science... If Saturn is to succeed with a new mission, new look and new names, the consumer MUST be informed.

My god! It just keeps getting better! Looks amazing, GM!

Nice, but I see a lot of Mazda in that.

Funny you mention that... A few of the "Crazy preachers" came to campus the other day. It was a beautiful day, so I decided to sit outside and listen because I had nothing better to do. The preacher said something to this effect: "americans are never content with what they have. As americans, we never sit down to be thankful for the luxuries we enjoy that others can only dream of. This society is vulger, perverted and cynical just like the roman empire was when it fell. And just like with the roman empire, god will destroy and dispose of america." I'm not as huge fan of Christians (such as these guys) who appear to be extremists. But I agree 100% with what he said about this country. And I believe that we will see our empire fall in this life time, it has already begun.

Cars: * Getting the Camaros back on the road and back at shows after taking last year off. Although, so far this year has been $h!ty/rainy almost every weekend as opposed to the SEVERE drought of last year. Just my luck, eh? The one year the cars are locked up in the shed is the one year out of 10 that NC is dry. * Hit at least 1-2 shows per week. * Finally join AACA * Continue to build, promote and hopefully pull off my UNCC Relay For Life car show in the fall. I want it to be big, and so it shall be if everything goes well. Music: * Attend muchos metal shows this year. Took last year off. * Get better at guitar, pick up a bass and prepare to begin playing violin again (after 13 years of not) when school starts back. Personal: * Continue to establish myself in preparation for 'transition from college into the working world.' (Eventhough my ass has been hard at work pretty much fulltime for 10 years now) * Get in shape... again... * Get a better summer job. * Continue to develop social skills to balance my introverted personality. * Continue to perfect the image I try to convey (Ever hear of image management in the psychological sense? Look it up. You'll see why I do a lot of what I do) Other: * Prepare for grad school. * Landscaping (another hobby of mine) * Camping. (I'd camp 365 days per year if I could) * Most importantly, continue to appreciate the things in life that balance out all of my negativity. The company of friends and family. Nature. Never forgetting that life is a gift.

Good question. Seems like the place is going to hell now that you guys are involved. (re: GM verses VW)

Cavigirl used Photoshop.

Don't pay any attention to PCS. His belief is that GM should sell one or two FWD V6 cars across the globe with the same indistinct, heritage deprived, badge. Or basically; Saab But we all know how well that outfit is doing in the real world. As for the badge... I mean, I thought the previous version was awesome but since apparently everyone seems to think that colored logos = poor quality and monochromatic logos = quality (Thanks to the asians and their cheap, bland, appliance-like luxury cars) I guess this will have to do. It looks good, but so did the old one. Then again, neither logo has quite the appeal of the lion in the Holden logo

Opel Insignia unceremoniously revealed a week early
FUTURE_OF_GM replied to Intrepidation's topic in Opel/Vauxhall
I know... That's why I said the hood and fender designs were different. The cars are still too similar. (I should've been a bit more clear; I think my off the cuff rantings have only added confusion. Sorry.) -
Wait, isn't China controlled by GME? Fine job they're doing there.

Opel Insignia unceremoniously revealed a week early
FUTURE_OF_GM replied to Intrepidation's topic in Opel/Vauxhall
I beg to differ... The hood on the Opel looks to be a bit different and the front fender is a little different. But I'm willing to bet that the nose is the same. If not, Opel sure as hell must be out of ideas. My god man, these people are supposedly the future of GM, yet they suck this bad?!?! Doesn't really bother me that GM is "doubling up" since 1) it eliminates costs and 2) the Opel doesn't compete with the Chevy. What does bother me is that this appears to be the exact car we're getting as a Saturn. Not to mention, the Ep II Buick is said to be very similar as well. So, I guess yet again, for every 1 step forward GM will take 2 steps back. As far as the cars not getting confused, or being deliberately criticized... If the consumer isn't smart enough to tell what engine is in the car (Most aren't, I worked in parts for a LONG time) then what makes people think that they won't confuse cars that are this similar. It'll be a disaster for the hot selling Malibu and the media will make it that much worse with the "badge engineering" -
LMFAO! With what? A Camry-melted-Nissan wannabe division, a marketing name and a virtually nonexistant Swedish brand? LOL.

Opel Insignia unceremoniously revealed a week early
FUTURE_OF_GM replied to Intrepidation's topic in Opel/Vauxhall
The Saturn Ion wasn't Opel... Although, If it were, that could explain why it was a dismal failure. And am I seriously the only one that sees a HUGE similarity in these two noses? It's the same exact piece on both cars. And that's with a base Malibu, if it were the chromed out LTZ the resemblance would be even more striking. I certainly hope the Saturn version gets a nose job. If not, we're back to the Chevy Trucks/GMC days of sharing noses with different grilles -
WOW! A 'bling-bling' side vent! (Much sarcasm implied) It's doesn't have the new wheels, I guess. And I thought that god awful "Supercharged" badge was history. Least it's not a cluttered looking as the front fender of the STS. (With the vent, GM badge and marker light)

Opel Insignia unceremoniously revealed a week early
FUTURE_OF_GM replied to Intrepidation's topic in Opel/Vauxhall
It looks very pieced together, like one team designed the nose (Or just bolted it on from a Malibu) another team designed the awkward greenhouse and another team designed the rest of the body. They tried to make the car look smaller by "bolting down" the rear, but it just looks melted and poorly designed. Wow, they even ripped the wheel design off from Saturn... Is GME really this bankrupt of ideas? -
AFAIK, Sigma is a "dead man walking" after this CTS wears off.

Opel Insignia unceremoniously revealed a week early

Well, you know what I always say... The Devil is in the details and apparently not enough of the details transferred for the car to be attractive to 90% of the people here. As for putting Holden on the car, GO AHEAD, if you'll remember correctly I HATED the G8 when I first saw it too. -
The dealer here has (had) a red one and a black one. Beautiful cars that I'm sorry I ever doubted the significance of.
-
My comment was directed at the rumors that Zeta will die and Alpha will become the top RWD platform at GM. If that happens, then it should be engineered for a V8, even if it's for a very small number of cars.
-
Sexy, sexy... Too bad the lack of a V8 will keep me out of it.
-
LMFAO!!!! That's great!

Here's A Not So Bright Opinion Into Buick's Relevance
FUTURE_OF_GM replied to InvictaMan's topic in Buick
I know right?!?! Even the title of the site is an oxymoron.
