Ever go to the Rod Run? (Grand Run) Geez... This is a hard question. I tend to gravitate toward 1959, 1969 or 1970. But my favorite year really depends on the car itself more than anything. Last fall I went to Rod Run and found something amazing. First of all, I saw an all original Plymouth Super Bird (Only the 4th one I had ever seen) Even the paint was immaculate. The guy was trying to sell it for right around $100,000 and MUCH to my bewilderment, he had "a barn full of about 10 more" at his house that he was also trying to sell. At first I called until he showed me the pictures. I guess maybe his dad had collected them or something because he seemed to be pretty young. He probably had well over a million dollars worth of cars. Hell, I'd just like to own one Super Bird, much less 10 or 11. FWIW, I've always been a fan of this El Camino:

If I wanted to see the marvels of electricity, I'd go to a computer show. And FWIW, NO this will not stop Al and the enviro idiots. It's not about the environment, the debate is about politics and control. As soon as we "make the switch" that I hope we never make, someone will raise new concerns to panic about and they will then use those concerns to limit your freedom a little bit more. MY TOP 3 PREDICTIONS FOR "PANIC" AMONG THE ELECTRIC CAR AGE (If, god forbid, it ever gets here) 1) How will the batteries affect the environment? It'll be BAD and once the enviro losers realize this (They're too dumb to realize the impact at this time) they'll wage another war on the automobile with the solution being "Mandatory mass transit" and "Driving less" 2) How the coal burning power plants will KILL the ozone as bad or worse than cars. (Again, they're too stupid to realize this now) See above for the solution. 3) Safety... Safety is always an issue with cars and the solution will be the same as above or smaller cars.

Need I remind you of our influence and marketing? Basic cars might sell to americans, as long as they're marketed under the asian brands. Let's face it, asian car buyers make the purchase on name alone most of the time. But GM does not enjoy that kind of goodwill. Just look at their current line up for proof; it caters mostly to enthusiasts because GM knows that it needs more than "the basics" to sell cars. Go ahead and make GM bland, then I'll be sure to track you down in a few years for the face to face "I told you so"
-
LOL. Shouldn't you be fearing what you do not understand? Because if GME does not understand american buyers then your job will be on the line. We enthusiasts have plenty of options.

The split bumper cars were 70-73 and the split bumper was exclusive to RS cars. They could be optioned as RS/SS and Z28/RS through 1972. In 1973 the Type LT model took the place of the SS and I don't *think* it could be optioned with the RS. 1974 saw a new front end. My '73 was originally a Type LT without the RS package. However, it is now restored as a Z28/RS

Maybe they're taking the same approach that they had with the Enclave.

C&G @ NYIAS: Saab

Well, We always knew the Germans were easily convinced to follow. Looks as if the Germans involved in GME are no different. :AH-HA_wink: -
Umm, yeah... <--- Definitely worked at a major investment firm. I know all about the predictions. But it's a different thing entirely to rampantly spread pure speculation and cause panic (Often for the sake of making $$$) The automakers, people who actually know what they're talking about, have made predictions. However the "turmoil on Wall Street" that the article discusses is nothing more than some loud mouthed fat cat who may or may not have been taken out of context.

The entire Pantera CD by the name of "Far Beyond Driven"... I finally bought it to round out my Pantera collection and boy I did not know what I was missing. Stand out tracks for me = "Strength Beyond Strength", "5 Minutes Alone", "Slaughtered", "25 Years" and "Use My Third Arm" BY FAR Anselmo's BEST work behind the mic. The distortion is perfect, his voice is excellent and there is a lot of angst.

Not bad at all... But not my cup-o-tea.

That CTC is probably the best looking car I've seen in a LOOONG time.... It's beautiful, I'm in love. -

I have never really been an SUV guy, but I could certainly see myself in an HX if the production version is a lot like the show vehicle. Hate those new wheels on the Saab Turbo. The concepts are conservative but attractive, if a little bland. The H3T looks A LOT better in actual pix. -
Why must Wall Street talk out of it's ass and screw with everything and everyone at all times? Seriously, our society would be much better off without it being reported as "fact" or "prediction" every time some two bit hack analyst farts.

Those 'proponents' need to be shown the door IMO. (And by that I mean hire a big guy like me to throw them through the door onto their asses) It's nothing personal, just business. I don't like politics and would treat Holden the same way were thy trying to eff with another part of GM. -
Looks like GM may have put some $$ in for
FUTURE_OF_GM replied to avant1963's topic in General Motors
This one is supposed to be BIG since Vin Diesel is coming back to play a major role. I pretty much wrote it off until a friend of mine said that it might surprise me. Granted, that friend is a movie buff and not a car guy, but still. I love the first movie, hated the second one (except for the classics) and never saw the third one. -
Camaro Engines? 4 Cylinder Turbo considered by Lutz
FUTURE_OF_GM replied to hyperv6's topic in Chevrolet
I think Lutz made a mistake there. If we have a Turbo 4 cylinder that puts out 260, what would be the point of having a DI V6 rated the same. I'm not sure anyone can compete with the Mustang on price... The GTO couldn't and it performed better, the F4 couldn't and it was MUCH more performance for the $$$. -
Camaro Engines? 4 Cylinder Turbo considered by Lutz
FUTURE_OF_GM replied to hyperv6's topic in Chevrolet
I'm not really opposed to having the OPTION of a 4 cylinder in the F5; especially given the export potential. If it's executed correctly, it could be a fun car. That is; if the car isn't fat as hell. Here's a whole new can of worms that I'll open up: If the Camaro, a zeta sports car, can get by with a 4 cylinder as the base motor; why can't the rest of the zeta line? Why has the line up been narrowed and models been cancelled, unless for the sake of politics? -
Not to mention the jobs created by other alternative fuels... I don't think the ethanol and oil industries would support a mass electric car changeover, especially the ethanol industry since they're investing tons of money and will need quite a few years to see a major return. I never want to drive an electric car. HOWEVER, I am a proponent of having that choice. I want to have more choices in what consumers can drive. Because as electric cars become more prominent ALL over the world, (Any Volt like program is sure to be a global one from any manufacturer) we'll begin to see the demand on oil go down. It might take a while, but it'll happen. As far as gas staions go... The answer is simple; they'll diversify. Some will begin selling Ethanol, some will implement charging stations, some might sell hydrogen or CNG (Depending on how widespread those technologies get) If you think big oil, with their deepening pockets, will sit around and let another industry phase them out without buying into and even controlling that industry, then I have some ocean front property in Tennessee for sale as well.

Europe is an entirely different culture than America. Just let a lawmaker try to introduce something like this here and listen to what folks have to say. It won't be pretty As far as gas at $10/gallon... It'll never happen before we find an alternative. And the reasson I say that is because it CAN'T. Imagine what would happen to our economy if something like that occured. SOMEONE would have to step in and do something or else there would be widespread war, hunger and pillaging. When people get desperate, they'll start doing desperate things and it won't be pretty. I've got my guns... Do you?

*GASP!!* And we all know that "cheap people" are losers with no ambition, mullets and a high school education at best? I cannot believe the amount of arrogance in some of these posts. This isn't directed as a personal insult but I'd rather be a "cheap" "ignorant" individual than a poser yuppie anyday. -

Just ignore those two.. They are the typical import buyer and they are EXACTLY what is wrong with our culture. It's all about bull$h! and "putting on an act" instead of individuality and buying what you need or desire. Sheep #1: GASP! You didn't buy a Toyota?!?!?! Is there any other car on earth worth owning? I mean, it's not like I've ever actually driven anything else but according to my friends, they're great! I'll stick with what's "safe" Sheep #2: No, I couldn't buy a Toyota so I had to buy a Hyundai... I'm embarassed to even show up and the [iNSERT TRENDY COFFEE HOUSE HERE] with it. -
