  1. Good on them then... We feel the same way... Keep the 'german bosses' over there to run those companies and brands. Send Saab packing (out of NA) and kill Saturn. (Even though I don't really want that to happen)
  2. I'm a little worried about that too... Unless GM can show that it is committed to truly changing, I'm not sure that the business can be saved (especially since the media is working overtime to 'inform' the public that GM will not change)
  3. Tread water until 2010 when they can start making a profit again. They don't HAVE to say they'll do anything. They're (Detroit and it's suppliers) already employing 3.5 million americans. That's plenty.
  4. Chapter 11... Unfortunately, I think that the only way the UAW will go away permanently is for GM to do the same.
  5. No way! This is good in theory, but Japan Inc. would immediately step in to fill the void. Which would promote good will amongst the journalist and prompt heaps of praise and "Japan slays Detroit 3 in their own city" articles. I'm surprised we haven't been reading "Japan successfully runs Detroit out of California" articles over the L.A. Show as it is.
  6. Bin Laden won... Hands down. I hate to say it, but judging by what has happened to this country since 09/11/01, Bin Laden is a military genius... (I'm not glorifying the guy, he's a real piece of trash and I'd love to see an american soldier put a bullet in his head. But 'facts is facts')
  7. Perhaps because they don't really DO anything and feel inadequate about that? A big part of being 'american' is having the independence and ingenuity to "make your own way" Most of these yuppies on the street couldn't survive the NYC subways at night, much less be able to ever CREATE or BUILD anything with their own hands in order to "make their own way" I think they might feel inadequate about that. But that's just my humble opinion.
  8. So, Let me get this straight... GME is lobbying the German government to help them abandon GMNA?!?! Isn't that impossible? Doesn't GMNA OWN GME? I say we allow GME to go their separate way with Opel, Vauxhall & Saab (Since that really is all the company works with anyway) Then GMNA has shed a huge cost burden (GME will begin losing money AGAIN soon, they already barely make a profit) and eliminated brands. Then GM can leverage Chevrolet (It's global brand) and GMDAT to put GME out of business. Chevrolet and either Saturn or Pontiac could target Opel and Cadillac could target Saab... 'nuff said. (I could be way off though)
  9. Oh, there is... It's a stigma. Yet these yuppies can't see the forrest for the trees. Without blue collar work and workers, their JOBS will dry up. We're beginning to see that happen. america is too heavy on the people that don't really create anything, they just shuffle the existing (like this guy and most service jobs). That leads to a decrease in spending power (what we're seeing now... Credit has finally surpassed spending power) and ultimately less jobs for the shufflers. You can't service anything if people don't have the money to spend on the services or what needs serviced. I wouldn't exactly call the 90s, the truck boom, "29%" pins and billions in profit "limping along for years"
  10. Hmmm.... That says a lot. The definition of sheep? I think so... Wonder who cut him the check? But no where near the 3.5 million that would be lost... But then again, since americans (especially american business men) cannot see past their own noses, that DOESN'T MATTER. Yeah... And they did that to try and shut people like you the hell up, by MAKING A PROFIT!
  11. Remember what I said??? Wall Street will ooze with this kind of logic in order to try and sway the government and citizens. All because Wall Street can make a buck on the back of the little man and at the hands of 300 years of history.
  12. I LOVE watching a good train wreck. I hope people like this suffer really bad if this country ALLOWS our auto industry to fail. maybe I'll throw them a bone or 2 when they're starving in the gutter... Oh wait! Nevermind, I think my dog deserves the bone more.
  13. Chevy Volt Chevy Cobalt Chevy Aveo Chevy HHR The most fuel efficient trucks and SUVs in the market via Chevy and GMC The Lambdas The new Chevy Equinox and Cruze Saturn Astra Pontiac G3 Pontiac G5 Pontiac Vibe Pontiac G6 Malibu hybrid Aura Greenline Vue Greenline Silverado hybrid Sierra hybrid Yukon hybrid Tahoe hybrid All the Saabs!!! Solstice Sky What more do you want?!?!?!? Okay, so that's why the "gas conscious" trend has already begun to reverse. When gas was $2.00/gallon?!?!? Nah... the lack of financing had NOTHING to do with it. We TRIED that in the 80s and you pieces of $h! in the press never let us live it down. Bankruptcy is not an option you f*cking idiot. The companies will disappear if they go bankrupt. Do you have the money to fund that? Shows what a yuppie, condescending son-of-a-b*tch this guy is... But then again, he is in academia, so go figure. Not to mention, Detroit's loss is his gain. You know what they say; those that can't do, TEACH. I have 2 degrees and I'm still a student and I sure AS HELL am having a hard time doing just that... Explain why... Since you seem to have all the right answers (Like most 'college people' seem to think they do) The fact that we as a society have been conditioned to BELIEVE that we should GIVE UP FREEDOMS such as this shows just how ignorant you are and that you're willing to support the divide between rich and poor through the global economy (That america apparently isn't allowed to contribute to) So THAT'S it?!?! You're on painkillers and your judgement is flawed. I'm so tired of this "america will get over it and prevail" mindset. america is in the sh**ter and it will remain there until people like you are silenced or EDUCATED about the reality of the global economy and the reality of LIFE for most people in this country.
  14. Which tech industry?!?!?! The one that is downsizing? Or the one that got outsourced? Maybe this guy should climb out from under that rock. It amazes me how f*cking stupid americans are. Hmmm.... Me thinks that your "have no idea" mantra sums up your knowledge of the entire industry. Wrong-o.. To say that the credit crisis, over all financial crisis and the tanking auto market had nothing to do with this is beyond ignorant. And they STILL ARE. LMFAO... So ALL 16 million units sold last year were hybrids?
  15. Too bad that the jaded media has given this ZERO coverage.
  16. I never said I would vote Democrat either The devil's in the details.
  17. Isn't the new Hyundai plant in Alabama? I guess that, and his mouth watering at the idea of import companies building a lot of plants there once the big 3 collapse to "capture the market" (Yeah, I know he's an idiot... But cut him some slack, he is a politician after all) is why this piece of $h! is so vocal against the big 3. So we'll GIVE wall street and all it's paper shuffling institutions that have destroyed the american consumer 700 billion, yet we cannot LOAN the auto industry 25 billion? I hope all the jobs and workers that depend on the auto industry join me is SWEARING to NEVER vote Republican again. You all KNOW my stance... If that's the way they want to be, then lets DO THIS $h!! Lets allow all 3 of the automakers to simultaneously file chapter 11 and then lets watch this country fall to the ground. I think it'll be a good show! This is the attitude that GM & Co. need to take. they need to go to Washington and say "Look, either we get some f*cking much needed, MUCH DESERVED help or we'll level this f*cking place so fast you won't even know what hit you... YOU THINK THE FINANCIAL MARKET CRASHING WAS BAD, WAIT TILL YOU HAVE 10+% UNEMPLOYMENT ON TOP OF THAT.
  18. I work in a tavern and every drunk a-hole thinks it's a good idea to play that BARTENDER song by Rehab. So a lot of times, that sh*t is stuck in my head. It's no wonder I'm so damn moody all of the time, LOL.
  19. Great to see that you're back!
  20. You all know my personality... If we're gonna burn this thing, then give me some liquor. some heavy metal and some kerosene. No challenge should ever be met by reluctance, so head first, guns blazing we go into the fire IMO. What happens, happens; at least we gave 'em hell in the process.
  21. You know, if GM and Ford we're smart, they'd use the negativity against them to start a social movement the likes of which has not been seen since the "Green" movement. Just as it is patriotic to go "Green" it should be patriotic to buy domestics. They could do it to... All they need is a good sociologist. (FOG raises hand)
  22. There needs to be a fundamental shift in consumerism for anything to be long term. Obama and Detroit need to work together to PROMOTE Detroit as a source of power, pride and heritage so that Joe Q Know-nothing Public has a clue as to what he is pissing on when he says negative things about Detroit. The media needs to be shut up. (I don't think regulation is the answer, but if a media outlet spreads lies, then it ought to be subject to lawsuits from the big 3 IMO) And the consumer needs to be informed... Product is not the answer now. The big 3 HAVE the product. It's an IMAGE GAME and that's why Japan Inc, in conjunction with the media has worked SO hard to change and instill the perception of the domestics to NEGATIVITY. I mean seriously, I remember not 3 years ago when the media was attacking GM for building vehicles for Nazi Germany... Seriously?!?! Give me a break! When the domestics started recovering about 5 years ago, the media started piling on the negativity through editorials and opinion pieces because the product was no longer faulty. THERE GOAL was to completely remove Detroit from the equation (i.e. It wasn't enough for the american citizen to not buy american based on merit... No, the american citizen had to be conditioned to HATE and LOATHE american autos for the 'corporate policies' or 'notoriously bad products' or 'what their executives opinions of global warming is') So now, a lot of american not only WONT CONSIDER american cars, they flat out WONT buy them "just because". And that "just because" is usually just that, because they can't provide any concrete reasons. It's the same mentality of people who voted for Obama "because of hope and change" or McCain "because he's got more experience" There is no specific reason, just a general line that has been conditioned into the psych by the media.
  23. Lache is as big of a wall street piece of $h! as they come. These "ANALysts" that LITERALLY pull out of thin air and spread it through the doomsday machine that is the american media, have WAY TOO MUCH POWER!!!! This guy has singlehandedly dictated the price of GM now for what 2-3 years. EFF THAT! These greedy people on Wall Street HAVE to be stopped.
  24. There are so many things wrong with this statement that I won't even bother wasting my breath. That very mindset is IMO, what will destroy what's left of america.
  25. +1 I doubt very seriously that Obama would turn on a majority class in the voters that just won him the presidency. (Although he is a politician and they usually do stuff like that) If DC was going to allow that, they would've funded the DCX and GM merger, because that's exactly what would've happened. What will happen is the automakers will be given aid and will be expected to employ the same amount of people they have and maintain the same share. Now, that's not a bad thing... But it's not really a good or easy thing either.
