  1. There has to be a better way.
  2. Exactly. They utterly, utterly have the product. It is an insult to the engineers and production people that brought us these vehicles to let them rot on the vine.
  3. Depends, some of us like the ultra sweet handling of a Miata, Corvette, BRZ, Boxster, Z4, et al. Key word in the above post though is real world driving. If it is not a sports car, then the really low center of gravity is pretty much a moot point. Again, VW of America is showing that it really does not understand American customers. Many drivers, particularly female, like to sit up higher. i know my wife does.
  4. Neat looking truck. I love how aggressive Dodge trucks are.
  5. Why GM is not selling this in large numbers is a mystery.
  6. ...or how many can they afford with so many good jobs lost elsewhere?
  7. CTS is indeed a better upscale family car. However, the ATS nails it as well.
  8. But other than the quality of the interior materials and decent diesels, they have nothing to offer, really. And they are bone crushingly expensive to repair. An SCCA buddy of mine runs an indie shop that often services Benzes. A recent A/C repair on a fairly new Benz cost more than my car is worth, due mostly to the cost of OEM parts.
  9. The Germans do own the luxury market. But they do some dumb things, things so stupid they make me question the future of the human gene pool. VW for one is planning on bringing back the Phaeton, after selling something like 3000 over three years the first time it flopped. Nothing says dumber than a box of rocks like failing to learn from your mistakes, and no one fails to learn with more certainty than the Germans. The Cubs will win a world series before the Germans get the slightest effing clue. Maybach will be a laughingstock.
  10. This pretty much wants to make me root for the avian flu an Ebola. Dumb, dumb, dumb on the part of VW...why are we in America the last to get everything, and then we get the crumbs...and then the geniuses at VW wonder why Americans don't want to buy An offblackgreydarkwhite German Camry with power windows that quit in the rain. Announcing a new Golf before the current one is even fully released here is an insult... Sorry for the rant. Maybe the MK 8 will have a USB port or a decent navagation screen, two things missing on the mk7. Then again, maybe VW will be happy selling 1400 Golfs a month long term in the US.
  11. And BTW, my old Mustang fastback was built on or about November 17 1965 in Metuchen N.J. The Mustang guys say that the best cars came from there, vs. Michigan or San Jose.
  12. Not to get political, but here in Ohio during my electric career I disconnected the electric for a number of nice industrial buildings so they could be torn down. We have become a nation that prizes Burger King, Justin Bieber and American Idol. We no longer for the most part give a flying eff about making things here. Other than GM, I honestly cannot think of a single American company that builds any kind of durable good I would want to buy. Astonishing to say the least. Given the potential we had in the forties, the sixties, or even in the Reagan era...we should pretty much hang our heads in shame. End of rant, and incredibly sad photographs.
  13. It is a decent car, but the GM lineup in 2014 is orders of magnitude better than the 2008 lineup. With the exception of the crappy Malibu, I like the whole current lineup as well as or better than the stuff from the late sixties/early seventies golden age.
  14. Interesting idea. Meanwhile, I lust over the idea of a fifties truck with a real hardwood floor in the bed!
  15. Again, that with a small diesel would be the cats ass!
  16. IMHO keep the Beetle and buy either an S10 4wd for the weekends or actually if I were you I would buy an older full sized truck.
  17. I agree with Blu, time to move on. I know you would enjoy the Pontiac, however you will deeply, deeply regret not getting the new GMC. I actually like the GMC better, and I am the C And G sports car guy fwiw. Were it to be me, I would buy the truck and never look back. Also, remember how quickly you tired of your Cadillac.
  18. Blue really needs two cars. The new Colorado is sweet beyond measure. Here's hoping we see one in the C and G fleet.
  19. The Volvo C30 was orders of magnitude a better car, however it came out right as the economy tanked and as such never caught on. ...and the C30 could also fit two adults in back in comfort.
  20. Not sure I agree on the long term quality of Ram Trucks. I actually think they are fantastic, at least the newer ones. And this is coming from me, the C and G resident Mopar H8er. Agree with Balthy also that they are sweet in some colors or trims.
  21. ATS is an Amazing car. Of all GM's issues right now, product is not one of them!
  22. Brownies for the win, glad your car will be all right. Now if you could only find. Body shop to repair it....
  23. Insurance rocks,. usually your rates do not go up for "an act of God"....although in the old testament I do not think VW beetles were what was getting stoned.
